I have a couple charities that are near and dear to me for different reasons and I have been trying to find ways to use what I learn re: IM to benefit them. I don't want to make any profit...I want everything due me to go to them....truly not for profit.

Have any of you done this? How did you do it? How successful was it?

If you haven't done this before, how would you do this?

thanks.

A few months ago, Kevin Riley and Michael Brown ran a giveaway event called the IM Dream Team. If you're not familiar with giveaways, they're basically events where people, known as contributors, are able to submit a gift which others, the members, are able to download. In addition to being a list-building event, everyone is given the opportunity to upgrade for additional benefits. There were also OTO's, so apart from the commissions that were paid out to contributors and members, everything else was given to charity.

We're creating a simple 'promotional code' script that allows for percentage discounts as well as set dollar amount discounts.

Part of our plan is use this for charitable purposes...either paying them a percentage of the remaining amount, or all of it. They would be able to put this code in their promotional materials and use it to gain donations for themselves.

Good to hear that. You'll find it exciting, fascinating and VERY fulfilling.

I'm in year #14 of doing just that - and it works very well. You'll need some
patience and persistence, coz not everything you try will work or work the
way you expect. And it takes a certain amount of 'thick skin' - at least until
you've built up your reputation - because you might be accused of many bad
    things along the way!

    how would you do this?
    Options:

    1. Have specific promotions EXCLUSIVELY for charity, where 100% of what
you generate goes to the non-profit. These are the easiest to run because
there is NO confusion as to where the money goes. It is also the only kind
where you are fully justified in using the non-profit as an 'angle' for the
promotion - as you won't keep ANY of the money raised.

    2. Decide upon a percentage of your regular business profits to go to charity.
Whether you make that decision and amount public, or keep it private, is
a personal choice. Mine has been to NOT use it as part of the selling process,
but to mention it to buyers AFTER the sale, so they know they are part of a
bigger effort simply by having purchased something.

    3. Pick a fixed contribution every month to go to your favorite charity. This
*might* seem non-intuitive, but often when you make such a commitment,
you'll be so energized to meet that target that you'll get more creative with
your selling efforts, and your business grows. No time to slack off, because
you're working for something bigger than yourself! (Yeah, I know, some folks
will call this metaphysical mumbo-jumbo - but it works, and Mark Joyner
put that into a more logical/understandable form than I ever could with his
    report, "The Positive Promise"

Hope this helps. If you'd like to discuss it further, PM me

Oh, I forgot another 'model' that worked well when Ian del Carmen used it.

Create a product (Ian used a software) - and give it away free, with an
upgrade to a premium version being offered to anyone who makes a
donation to your chosen charity (give details of how to do it, and how to
prove to you they did it).

And many years ago, Jack Humphrey taught me another concept.... writing
an ebook (or even print booklet) on a niche topic relevant to your non-profit,
and then giving it to them to sell for fund-raising. If you want it to earn
you some cash, you could sell to the non-profit 'wholesale' and let them
sell it to donors at 'retail' - so they keep the difference as funds for their
      cause.

      Hope this helps.

I don't do IM to promote charities, I just use some of my IM earnings to go to compassion.com for children in Africa every month and have a KIVA ad on one of my sites.

If you want to actually promote the charities themselves, just follow Dr. Mani's advice.
