Is This Against Clickbank Rules?

hey warriors,

I was just wondering. If I have a product in the clickbank market place, is it against their rules to create several accounts and promote my own product as an affiliate so that the gravity increases?

I was just wondering........

I think you have given some constant blackhatters a new idea! LOL! Not sure if CB has any rules against that though?

It's ok to do that infact it's been recommended in a number of affiliate books.

I don't think it's illegal. Nothing in their TOS about it.

I have several CB accounts for my products and also for selling as an affiliate.

You are allowed to do it.

Don't get too excited though...it will take a ton of affiliate accounts and most importantly SALES to get the gravity moving.

    Hello Yesacpow,

I am new here, but I do know the answer to your question because I heard Jim Edwards discuss that very tactic!

That is how he increased the sales to his '7 Day Ebook' he sold the book from his website using his own affiliate link so that his affiliate sales were huge. That is what allowed him to remain at the top of the charts at Clickbank for so long according to Jim.

    Sneaky eh?

    Smiles,

I know I've seen a lot of people advocate it and if they don't specifically say it's a "no go," anything that can give a boost is a good thing.

I think your efforts would be better spent doing something else (like recruiting affiliates) than creating lots of accounts for this purpose- even if you made 20 new accounts, it wouldn't do much for gravity if the competitor has 100s of affiliates making sales.

Gravity is a rather useless number, anyway. It does not tell you which products sell better.

      That is true.

But some affiliate have a mind set that if a product has no gravity they wont promote it. Even if the product is brand new they want statistics so satify their ego that the product will sell)

      Think about it!

Have you ever promoted a product with zero gravity?

I pay no attention to gravity, since like I said, it is pretty useless. I guess people don't really know what it is, or they wouldn't pay attention to it.

Zero gravity would mean you have no other affiliates to worry about competing with. The vendor could be selling tons of it, though. I'd rather promote something like that than a product with lots of affiliates.

There is an extra fee if you chose to sell more than 1 product. That is what I was told by clickbank and by others. Just thought I'd let you know, since I did not see anyone mention that fact. They also have a clickbank FAQ, but I think it's kinda hard to understand all of it. I'm new to this as well, and was thinking of signing up to clickbank as well. Good luck!!

      This is a different scenario.

I was referring to the same product but promoting it with different clickback accounts.

You are good. This is a common practice that people to use to kick start the promo frenzy on their product. I wouldn't worry about doing more than 4-5 accounts. Should be all you need.
