Video Marketing - is it a traffic gold mine!?

Anyone on Warrior Forum an expert with video marketing? If so, do you have any tips and suggestions on how to get great results!? Are the traffic benefits substantial if executed well?

Any specific strategies concerning YouTube, Animoto and Tube Mogul would be appreciated.

Use the search button at the top of the page with your search terms to find plenty of very informative articles and threads on the subject of Video Marketing.

YouTube CAN be a veritable 'goldmine' for traffic if you implement the knowledge you learn wisely and acquire the expertise to create videos with viral potential.

Thanks icoachu! I have to admit that I often disregard many of the promotional videos on YouTube and ignore most URL listings. Even when conducting a targeted search, I still find myself searching for the best quality listings and ignoring the rest. Lower quality clips must detract from a brand or a website, even when they are ranking well. Guess I'll just have to find some affordable video production software before tackling this area of marketing.

You don't have to go the software route if its too much hassle for you. You can try fiverr. Here's a whiteboard guy. You just get another fiverr guy to do a voiceover and you're in biz. See Hypnovid will create a 60sec whiteboard animation video for $5, only on fiverr.com

I'm really not into Fiverr but do you have a sample whiteboard video created for just $5?

Going back to the main question, video marketing like presentation marketing will give you quality targeted traffic and more exposure for your brand and will benefit you for the long run.

You are right that this guy makes animations, but you need to tell these are 5 second videos... Still, if you have him make a 60 second video you can sell it for a lot more, but I thought to mention it...

You don't need a lot. I use a flipcam, which has HD quality recording (Captures 120 minutes of stunning HD video on 8 GB of built-in memory) and camtasia for Mac to do all the editing. Flipcam is about £120 ($194) and Camtasia is roughly about £200. You could always use the free version to edit your videos. Other than that. Thats all you need to get started.

Video can have a major impact if you do it right.

Conversions, brand penetration and more. It`s not nearly as expensive to produce it any more either. It`s something every marketer should be using.

To be honest, the toughest part of video marketing is creating videos that are worth marketing.

Master how to make worthwhile videos quickly and efficiently and the "marketing" will be much easier. And there's a number of types of videos and different tools for each type.

Have dabbled in traffic generation on youtube several times but was unable to make my videos get any traction.

Another problem with youtube is that there is so much distraction trying to pull them away from clicking your link below.

I'm sure there is a way to make it work, but you would need some really good marketing and a very compelling call to action to get the clickthrough.

I'm going have to disagree here. There is no problem with YouTube or with marketing on the site. I haven't got a lot of videos on there but I'm getting decent conversions to my sites. Your either not doing enough on your off and on page SEO to gain traction.

      Are you backlinking your videos?
How competitive are the keywords you are targeting?
What is your channels page rank?
How regularly are you uploading to your channel?

The questions above are some of the things you need to stay on top of in order to get results.

If your going to get traffic from YouTube for free then you have to be in it for the long hall. It takes patience and persistence. If you want traffic fast from YouTube then invest in their ads network.

I'm going to respectfully disagree. The content of the video has to be compelling enough that it gets the viewer's attention and keeps it. Think about television advertising, for example. There are hundreds of thousands of ads on television but the ones you remember are very creative, compelling and interesting.

You can outsource that on Fiverr too. There are video scriptwriters who can bang out compelling scripts. Outsource to voice over guys. Then outsource to whiteboard animators.

End result? compelling instructional video tied to long tail keywords which you can then blast with outsourced links

Video Marketing works very well, especially if you do your keyword research.

If you would like to make a professional looking video for free using the tools you already have on your computer, here is a way to quickly make decent looking videos. 1.) Make a Powerpoint Presentation. Give the presentation a great border with your company logo. Adjust the "Page Setup" to 12 x 6.75 inches (this makes it take up the whole YouTube screen and look nice). Introduce yourself in the beginning of the presentation with a picture and then put your information in the slides to follow. Export all slide as .jpg files. 2.) Import .jpg files into Windows Movie Maker. 3.) Using the free voice recorder with Windows, record audio for each slide. 4.) Import this audio into Windows Movie Maker and match the audio file with the slide. 5.) Save movie file and upload to YouTube.

Voila! There is a quick way to make YouTube videos.

    Hope this helps,
    TP

Video marketing generates good traffic if done well. Some guidelines that can help includes transparency and authenticity. You need to be as transparent and authentic as possible in your videos. Try to create very compelling contents to attract visitors. That is, show or demonstrate how to use your product or a tutorial. Then try to upload your videos on multiple sites.

It's actually one of the best marketing methods I've seen. You need to know how to do it though. Most people create 30-40 seconds vids with WMM with simple pictures and expect results. What you need to do is actually talk to viewers. Whatever your videos are about, make sure to make at least 6 min video explaining what you are exactly presenting and why is it necessary to listen to you and not to others. Showing your face isn't necessary, you can just record your desktop or something.

If you're not using videos in your marketing then you're missing a trick. I don't think you should either do 100% video marketing or 100% text content marketing, but a healthy mixture of both plus other marketing platforms will mean more traffic and less over reliance on one source, which can only be a good thing.

Video is definitely a great to get traffic but more specifically TARGETED traffic based on how you have optimized both your YouTube channel and specific videos for Keywords! This is Key! So for example: Including keywords in the Title; Description (make sure to place your url first); and the actual content in the video (because you should upload a transcript that is full of your specific keywords); Lastly, save the video file name as your Keyword as well!

Next is content: A great formula for your video content is this:

Psst”Teaser (2-6 seconds) ---> what the video is about

Animated Intro (4-7 seconds)----> using your logo

100% Beefy Content (1-5 minutes)---> be sure to deliver what your promised in the teaser. Be sure to include a Call to Action (CTA)

Recap Intro (4-7 seconds)---> review what you have covered in the content

CTA Index (4-7 seconds)---> create a video directory that encourages to watch your next video; a CTA to subscribe to your Channel; and Bloopers

    Hope this helps!

Very good information mojohnso! Right down to the part where you include the keyword in the filename of the video being uploaded. Good one for pointing that one out, I can tell you know your stuff.

As for your checklist of video content, it looks good. Basically the doctors informal method of, "tell them what you are going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them again."

Great information for those new to the game, thank you!

I really would not do this. You can produce a very professional video for less money than you would think to an artsy student with a good idea and Adobe. I have one of those guys on my team and I have to say A++.

Ranking videos and getting them any attention is not so hard to do. There are many ways to go about doing this. There are thousands of people who are using YouTube as their main source of traffic. Keyword research truly is important to ensure that your video gets higher chances of ranking on Google. Video creation has easily been explained above. hahaha

I started my online career recording videos for YouTube. There are different approaches to profiting.

You could establish yourself as a video celebrity. Go viral in that sense. It bothers me that I was in Denny's the other day and there was a toy vending machine with the "claw" and about 3 Annoying Orange dolls

YouTube personalities are rockin' it and it leads to greater things. Comedians, filmmakers, stupid people, etc....just look at Fred *shutter*

From an SEO standpoint, yes you can target keywords, optimize your videos to do better in YouTube AND Google. But those who create a fan base ON YouTube will do the best.

So those cruddy little robot videos that talk down to you like you're a child I don't think are cutting it. I think video marketing is about REALLY delivering value. That's why tutorials, entertainment videos, and ongoing video blogging has been very successful.

YouTube is like a complete business model in itself, and those who have dedicated all of their time and energy into just that outlet will probably reap the rewards.

Think about how many crossovers are done. How famous YouTubers are making parodies of other famous videos, songifying things, eating crazy stuff, playing instruments from around the globe and piecing them together to make symphonies.

But in terms of off site SEO for boosting a website, sure...a couple of links from video hosting sites is nice for your portfolio of back links. It's just that those are two different perspectives.

And you can't rely on video traffic to convert in the same way that it would from another outlet. It depends on the market, your message, if you were entertaining, if you had a strong call to action to go to your site, etc.

You have to add extra effort to get your videos seen by your target audience. Integrate it in your blog, make it as your anchor text URL, in short do some seo tactics. You must also consider the quality of your videos, is it really worth watching for?

            Hope it can help you.

I made a low rate video (for free)

It has 83 hits, 4 people joined the safelist and one person upgrade which gets me paid!

I know that this is a great source of traffic! Maybe not at the scale that you are looking at yet, but it is less than a month.

Inasmuch as it's great to make your own video for advertising, one thing that sticks out to me in these videos is sound quality. If you're going to have to face the camera, invest in a handheld audio recorder like the Tascam DR05 and keep that in your pocket. Do not use the sound from the mic that come with the video camera because that is what contributes the most to non-professional sounding video, too much room sound.

So what you do is, record the video using the Tascam and your video camera sound. Later with you video editing software you can drop in the audio from the Tascam, which you had in your pocket or had a small lapel mic attached to, and remove the audio from the video camera mic. Your video will sound 100% better.

You should also invest in a good script for your video. It has to be catchy enough for people to viralize it. Pack as much marketing strategy into your video as possible.

Youtube could be used in so many ways. I make money with product launches. Build my list and also sell affiliate products from Clickbank, Amazon etc.

You need to understand the basics on how it get ranked. Most importantly I concentrate on getting more views, comments, make it social and get few high quality backlinks.

One more thingm Youtube has great traffic too. Sometimes I don't even bother to rank it on Google. A tough keyword could be ranked in just 3-5 days in youtube if you do the things right. Where as it may take you months and ages to rank it on google.

Youtube is definitely a great source of free traffic.

Keep in mind that there are other video traffic sources as well. Don't forget vimeo and other smaller video sites. Every little bit helps. Also, once you have traffic to your video, remember that you can encrypt youtube URLs so you can embed them in pages without your competitors being able to find your youtube urls

Whoever said that Youtube is cracking down on promo vids is mistaken. It still works. Just make sure you tag your video right and you use exact match keywords that don't have much competition. Also you can boost the SEO of that page by buying Fiverr SEO gigs. Invest in $30 on your youtube video page and try to blow up the traffic.

This is a very good point icoachu, but I have to say, don't only go after Youtube. My question to you is, if youtube always ranks better for your chosen keywords with a video, should you forget the other video sites? Think carefully, because many answer "Yes! Why bother with the other sites if they always are outranked by Youtube!"

The answer is what I like to call the Video Blanket SEO. So what if youtube always ranks higher? Don't you want to grab spot 2, 3 , 4, 7, as well as spot 1 on page one?

And with your suggestion to send fiver seo traffic to the different sites, (I am talking dailymotion, guavaleaf, iipctube,) then the answer is, "MORE IS BETTER!"

I did SEO for an offline client where I took over all top 23 spots, (thats the first 2 pages plus the top 3 spots on the third page,) all with one video upload to multiple video sites.

Say hello to Video Blanket SEO, (and one crazy happy client!)

I agree there are a TON of video sites out there. Create tons of videos to hit low competition keywords and put them on those dozens of video sites. don't get lazy though- each should be slightly different. They must ADD value to the host site.

At one time David, yes, but now TubeMogul has changed so much. It does not cover as many platforms as it use to, and it is also very expensive. (Some of their clients are Toyota, AllState, etc...) For the type of videos IM'ers put out, TubeMogul is not a match, (even IM'ers who really try to produce quality videos to advertise!)

There are other options out there.

Video marketing can be a gold mine if you create a buzz worthy video. Then you do not have to market the video - it will market itself.

2 years ago i created a video for a top electronics company. The video went sort of viral within a week and traffic jumped 500% that month - mostly from the video page on youtube.

Since then i have got moderate success with some other interesting videos. I do create and submit videos regularly to youtube for my clients even now. But in absence of really noteworthy content I have not been able to recreate that level of success with other average videos.

The traffic does convert but only a small percentage. It's similar to paying for Google AdWords advertising but not as effective - yet it's free! Over the past few months I've really seen my daily income increase through video traffic.

Yes. Since 2005 and 4 million Youtube views in different niches. It is a full time business. However in regards to traffic, it is the same with any type of digital marketing as you still need to have content that is valuable, believable and relevant to your audience.

    1. Have a channel focus on your niche. (Don't use the same channel for different niches or even your family videos. Seen that one too.)

    2. Create free tutorials for your channel, Educate those interested in your niche.

    3. Always have a CTA. A re-direct to an email auto-responder has ALWAYS worked best for me.

    4. Brand your videos (and I don't mean watermark) and encourage embeds by other bloggers and auto-blogs.

    5. Encourage comments on your videos, and participate in comments on other related videos.

    6. Have a consistent output of videos to your channel and blog. if anyone ever asks you "Where have you been?" you'll know you are not on top of things.

Keywords and titling are important, but more importantly - don't be afraid to be controversial with your content and opinions. You will never be able to get everyone to agree anyway, so you might as well take a side and state your case. This hin turn encourages comments, debates and above all... higher rankings for your keyword focused titles.
