Add subscribers to multiple email lists?

Have you guys ever made two mailing lists for the same freebie? For example when a user subscribes you automatically add them to your freebie list, and your promotional emails list?

So if they unsubscribe to your promotions list, their still on your freebies list which contains almost 100% free content...

Has anybody done this with good results?

Not me and I don't think it is worth it because it will only increase your subscriber limit it
    services like Aweber.

Why would you want to force someone who doesn't want to be on your list t stick around?

If they unsubscribe its for a reason.

I'm with Aweber and I don't think you can do this simultaneously with one confirmation email. I think each confirmation email is for 1 individual list name. So if you even wanted to do this you would have to send out two confirmation emails in order to get them to subscribe to both list. Doesn't seem cool at all bud.

However, I've had customers subscribe to my freebie list and when they bought one of my products I've set it to automatically subscribe them to my buyers list too. So if they wanted to unsubscribe Aweber generally give them both list options to choose from.

I wouldn't worry about it brv. Just focus on consitent optins.

For example on your freebie list your providing MASSIVE value at no cost, but on your promotions list, you email them 3rd party products, maybe do adswaps their, etc.

So the user can unsubscribe from that list, but still keep on receiving the other emails.

If someone unsubscribes from your list it's usually because
they don't want to hear from you anymore.

You can subscribe people to more than one list but just
make sure that your unsubscribe link gives people the
option of unsubscribing from ALL lists, and not just the
list they've received the message from.

You'll gain little advantage from holding people hostage.

        Yup thats how it'll be.

If you think about it, having the same susbcribers on two list one a freebie list, and the other a promotional list might be better cause instead of doing solo ads, adswaps, promoting 3rd party products, etc where you might lose unsubscribes you can send that on your promotional emails list. So if they get tired of that they can unsubscribe from that list but still keep on receiving the freebie emails.

If they wanted to unsubscribe from the freebie list they would of done it already so I dont think they might want to get removed from ALL of the lists...

Maybe thats just me that thinks this way :/

Aweber also offers automation functions that allow you to unsubscribe people from multiple lists you have if they unsubscribe from one. I would generally do that because if they signed up for one list with one email address and another list with another address, they could continue to get emails from you even if they unsubscribed from one of your lists. They generally get mad if this happens. My advice--make it easy to unsubscribe. Targeted leads that want to be with you are the only ones of value; dump the rest. --Mike

Freebie lists are easy come easy go...

If they are going to be on my "freebie" list - they are getting ALL emails - ESPECIALLY the promotional ones

My goal with the freebie list is to get them to be moved to the buyers list or unsub. Once they hit the buyers list they get ONLY the best stuff - you can reserve the "content only" emails exclusively for these folks if you wish - but not vice versa

    Cheers,
    Coby

This is a strategy that actually was used by John Cornetta during his rise to the top. He used it in a manner you suggest - heavy promotions to his usual list, with much lighter ones to the 2nd list. It works to a degree... at the cost of some integrity.

Um that's funny because I've never used that strategy and since my "Integrity" has now been called in to question let me clearly state my humble opinion on the matter.. I have NEVER added a subscriber to multiple lists ever. 1. It's unethical 2. Unless fully disclosed and agreed upon by the subscriber at t he time of optin it is non CANSPAM compliant. I am watching many marketers do this in a much more devious way then discussed here. In fact I am about to release a free warrior report so that everyone can see what is being done by a few bad apples ruining it for all of us.

Now what I did say, and what strategy I did and do use is that if you came in to one of my lists as a freebie seeker, if you know anything about my sales funnels, having been forced to go through not 1 not 2 but 3 OTO's just to get that freebie and you haven't spent a dime, yes that subscriber goes one to my wham slam I'm going to email you 5 to 6 times a day until you do one of two things. Unsubscribe or what people... ??? Buy something At which point they are treated completely differently. In fact it is one of my greatest joys to receive a reply to one of my emails from someone saying .. 'HEY stop sending me so many emails now!' To which I ALWAYS reply.. Dear {!firstname_fix} there are two ways to make your request happen. Just click the unsubscribe link at the bottom of all of my emails or BUY SOMETHING. Either way you will stop getting emails from me for the most part ..
