On Starting a New Blog

Last week, I started a new blog which is a challenge (to myself) to take a new site all the way from square one to making money - without leveraging any of my existing assets (lists etc).

It occurred to me that some people here might benefit by seeing my action plan. So here are the exact steps I took last week …

Setup and Installation

- Registered my New Domain
- Setup Hosting
- Installed WordPress on my site
- Selected my Theme
- Installed the Important Plugins
- Did some Basic Onsite SEO

Creating Interesting Content

- Rebranded 5 x Books from the LoyatePays Library
- Rebranded 6 Videos from the LoyaltePays Library
- Rebranded 5 x Infographics from the LoyaltePays Library
- Wrote 18 Blog Posts (over 5 days)

Traffic Generation

- Wrote 3 x Guest Posts for Other Blogs
- 3 Posts per Day at a Make Money Forum
- Commented on Several Blogs (about 3 so far)

That should give it a kick-start.

But more importantly, it may just help a few people here who are still new to all this stuff.

      I am using the All-in-One SEO Plugin by Michael Torbert. I think it's an excellent plugin.

      With regard to social media, I have the Sharexy plugin installed - it gives those nice colourful share buttons at the end of posts.

      Other than that, since I am separating this project from my others, I am not currently pursuing social channels aggressively.

      The rules of my challenge exclude me leveraging my existing assets. I don't like the idea of creating separate social accounts and I have my real profiles on social sites linked into my main project.

    All-in-One SEO Plugin by Michael Torbert is good but it sometimes affects the functionality of other plugin :-(

    Don't stop there. Social bookmark your posts. Autopost on Twitter and Facebook your blog posts. There are free plugins you can use to get the autoposts going. There is even an auto social bookmarker plugin.
