How do you get better rankings in Ebay 'Best Match'?

I've just recently started an offline marketing scheme
that helps local businesses use Ebay to sell more of
their goods.

As a test last week I listed an electric oven for a local
domestuc appliance store.

The listing title was:

'Stylish Electric Built-Under Double Oven from Indesit'

Throughout the week (5 day listing), I kept checking
the search function on Ebay to see if the listing would
show up. It did, but it was always tucked away on the
7th page, or near towards the end.

I used the keywords 'electric oven' in the search box.
And Ebay automatically lists the best match.

If you typed that search term into Ebay now, the top
ranking item is a very basic, private sellers listing.

I've tried to figure out how this ranking works, but I
can't. I could do with some help from an experienced
Ebayer if any are about.

Overal it did get 38 views. But I suspect most of those
were from the last day of listing.

    it takes a while to get a good best match, it rewards recent sales and volume big time. so if you are not consistently making a lot of sales each month, then it is a long road.

    You might be better off selling something like that on Craigslist.

      Ebay sucks,

      I let my store run on autopilot since it does make a profit.

      Entering the most common keyword phrases in your title and description will help.

      Look at your competition. Notice some real strange titles? They're there for a reason.

      At one time ebay was easy to make some decent money on, but now it's a totally different story.

      Bottom line is you just about have to concentrate on it and nothing else to be successful. And personally I think there are a lot of easier ways to make income online.
