Clickbank and Analytics

Alright here is a semi technical question for some of you. In google analytics you can track the where your sales are coming from by tracking who visits the "thank you" page after the sale has been made.

If you are using Clickbank however, many of these "thank you" pages will be on the merchant website. Therefore does anyone have an idea on how to track where your sales are coming from with Clickbank products?

You can use a tracking id (tid) in the hoplink

You can create dynamic tracking id with the softwares like xtreme conversions or conversion prophet.

But will that tell you where the customer came from? I am trying to determine which segment of my traffic produces the most sales. And I am not sure if you can do that with the tid.

You would need to allocate a unique tid to each 'segment' of traffic

Hey Harvey, thanks for responding. I am a little confused on how this would be done. Would I enter the information through Google Analytics?

It is separate from Google Analytics.

You would use a different tid in each place where you have an affiliate link

            e.g
            - from a newsletter
            - from a blog
            - from an ad

You could also track sales from AdWords searches.

But all my blogs, articles, and links are all funneled to my main page and then sent to the merchant website. Could you still track them with this method? Or would you need something else?

You would need to append the tid to each link to your
main page** and have some code which converts
it to the hoplink with the tid attached.

** I think the page would need to have a .php extension

Thanks Harvey. That sounds like it might be a bit of work since I have hundreds of links to my main page. I guess I was hoping for a more automated system to do this.
