Youtube Redirect Warning Message

Has anyone notice that Youtube now gives a warning message when someone clicks on a link within a video's description?

It's a REDIRECT warning message.

Is this new ... or is it something I just never noticed before?

Just doing a bit of a sanity check.. LOL

Do you have an example video URL?

How did someone embed a link into the video? Or do you mean a link to another video? I didn't think external links were permitted in videos.

    Here's a link
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=el_uP4G2ko4

I'm referring to what happens when someone clicks on the link in the descriptive text under the video.

Previously, if someone clicked a link it would take them right to the URL..

Now, it gives an intermediary warning message..

This isnt just on this video, seems to be on any I look at now. Even if it's just a link to a wbsite or a post

I clicked the link in the description and was taken directly to the page without a warning. I think Youtube just likes me more than you.

Or youtube just thinks I'm an idiot.. who doesn't know that when I click a link I "just might" want to go to it.

I don't know whether you're an idiot or not but you are correct about the redirection warning. I've noticed it a couple of times over the past couple of days, click on the link and youtube opens a new tab with the warning, so must be a new feature they bringing in.

It re-directs me from your video just fine, I get no messages. But I know what you're talking about. Sometimes I get those messages when I'm trying to click on Facebook link. No idea idea why. Seems complete random to me

it's probably a new feature, and it's really to *make sure* the end user knows that they are leaving youtube and usually they have a warning/disclaimer to say they are not responsible or affiliated with the external site.

thanks guys.. weird.. I'm getting them on any link in any video.. not just mine.. and I've never seen them before.

Anyway.. hope it's not a precurser to a mass implementation of it.

No Garrie.. it's happening within youtube itself.

Before it links out to an external page it gives a warning that says it is going to an external page and asks you to confirm that you want to do so.

Seems like a big waste of time to me..I cant imagine anyone clicking on a link doesnt know they are going outside of youtube.. I mean.. how stupid do they think people are?

I tried the link and got the same result. Only posting the screencap because no one else seems to be having the same issue.

I just clicked on that link and it went straight through for me.

I have had this happen to me on twitter though with CPA offers.

You can easily circumvent it by just running a redirect through your own domain.

I hope they don't start doing that. Facebook has a re-direct message when going to an external website from your personal page, and it's annoying

ya.. looks like the shape of things to come..

I'm sure 99% will just click right through it.. after all, they clicked on the link in the first place..

Yeah, me too getting the same message here since 3 days now on, I think whether you get this message or not could depend on you IP or youtube settings, but I think they'll make this pesky message unavoidable on all IPs and to all countries very soon... they're are just starting...

I've been getting the same thing with all the links that I click on within Youtube description. I'm wondering if this is going to hurt conversions at all for Youtube videos.

Probably trying to reduce the number of people leaving their site through external links. Good for them, BAD for us. Just keeps proving over and over again that you should rely on sites YOU control.

worked fine for me as well, no warning message ... as it was mentioned above, probably it's just to show to the user that is actually leaving the youtube territory

I am getting the exact same thing on MY videos within my own channel. I had a few warnings on music issues before and I think one of my videos was flagged by a guy who did not like what I had to say so its in the unfavorable area or whatever they call a channel that gets their negative attention.

    Is yours like that also?

This new feature may apply to channels that are not perfect.

On my last video I get taken to this link:

    YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

    Instead of:

    Player Supremes Store

where it should go directly too.
