Static Webpage Software

Any recommendations on some type of program that helps you build a static website? I know you can do this with Wordpress, which I've done on one of my niche sites. I don't mind that approach, but I'm not a huge fan of the way it looks. I Just want something where I can build a site with a main page, menu on the left, some ads prodcuts on the right, etc.

Thanks for any help.

Yes! Yahoo site builder is excellent for making static pages.
It's based off the old Geocities engine I think, so you can make a website bascailly however you can imagine it.
If you are not using Yahoo hosting, you will need to edit the code in the page after you're made it to remove a line which says "This page can't be viewed outside the editor".

I've found sites I liked that were static, went to the source and copied it, and then changed it to fit my own making sure it' unique and not simply copying the site

XSitePro has been around for a while and still makes sites that work quite well. its template b asked like Wordpress, but it isn't as difficult to make custom changes in it if you know a little bit of CSS

You mean something to code HTML, CSS, etc? Dreamweaver, but it's expensive. Notepad++ is great and it's free.

Dynamic or Static Web Page. ... you are building, but more often than not your type of page could have an effect on the type of software that is best for the job.
