What it takes to be #1 in youtube nowadays ?

I believe, quality of the video.
Before this, I easily can rank #1 in low competition keywords.

But now, it seem it's impossible.

I tried what it works before, but never succeed....
Bought several wso on this topic, but clearly they just reharshed old method.

Thanks in advance,
Raja Kamil

  • I think having awesome videos with awesome content so you build a following would work. I would suggest looking up Gideon Shadwick, he is like the god of video. He has lots of free tips that are very helpful too.

I make videos as well, but it isn't something I enjoy (I have a face more suitable for radio). I don't get much traffic from my videos either, but then again I haven't been doing it for very long and my videos are not very professional looking.

For myself I prefer writing. I can write up a storm but put me front of a camera and I get all uncomfortable and it shows.

    Hi Raja,

It does start with a quality video, but that is just the beginning. If no one can find your video, it won't matter how good it is.

    - Make sure your videos are properly optimized by having your keyword in the title.

    - Make sure to mention your keyword in your description and use relevant keywords in your tags.

    - Get views by using either fiverr or Vagex.

    - Get some back links to them.

You should have no issues ranking videos.

      Thanks Adam. That's great.

Before this, my video rank higher even without lots of views.

Now, it's outranked by video with lot of view.

        Hi Raja,

I wonder if YouTube have changed their algorithms, so what you were doing before isn't quite enough now?

I've found that it isn't necessary to get tons of views (bit of a risk anyway, if you're getting them artificially from Fiverr or Vagex).

I put a video on YouTube, recently, that went straight to #1 both on YT and Google - yet it, naturally, had no views at that time.

But it did have plenty of on page elements, such as a keyword rich title, and a long description, which had the main keyword phrase at the start middle and end and a few LSI keywords sprinkled throughout the video - about every 100 words.

I've found the same formula works for web sites, where I've gotten to #1 on Google even for affiliate sites. What's more, all these elements are in your control and you don't need to get involved in back linking or anything that could jeopardize your account.

        Type:
How to use Camtasia: Removing a cough

into either Google or YouTube and you should find it at #1. But the number of views are small and have all come organically from real views. So that must prove what I've just said.

Not the most competitive keyword phrase, I grant, but this formula still gets me around half way up page one of YouTube for super-competative phrases, such as "How To Make Money On Line".

        Warmest regards,

        Paul

I agree with Adam, but you also need to make sure the content of your videos is highly relevant to the keywords you're targeting, or you'll get short term rankings and lose them. That's what I've found - it's easy to get a single video ranked for a bunch of keywords with a little promotion, but you'll only be able to keep rankings for keywords which your video manages to end search for.

You wrote "quality of the video" but how do we define quality? Is it about valuable or engaging content?

Having worked in the audio/visual for quite sometime, these are some helpful suggestions for creating better quality videos:

      1. If you need a person to appear in the video, and you're not confident in your looks and your delivery, hire someone who looks good and speaks well. There are out of work actors or actress you can hire that can do this.

      2. If you're selling information, you can make a powerpoint presentation with a combination of text and esthetically pleasing images. Remember this is something people are watching, so it helps to have a splash of color, underlining key phrases, etc.

      3. If you're going to do the dialogue yourself, you need to do 3 things:

      a. Make sure, you have a script and practice that script till you can sound coherent and confident.
      b. Make sure you learn something about audio recording into the computer, so that you can get the best sound of your voice. If you get a usb mic, speak close to the mic. you want to minimize room sound. So get a mic stand, don't put the mic on the desk and bend your head to talk into the mic. I've seen this done.
      c. If you live with others or a pet, make sure that they can't be heard on the recording. Close the windows to keep out traffic noise. Remember this is going to live forever on the web, and you don't want Fido making a aural cameo appearance.

Not a lot of people pay attention to the sound quality of their videos. So, if you're going to have people on the video, make sure that you just don't rely on the microphone on the video camera. Get a quality hand held recorder that you can put in the pocket of the person speaking, or use a miniature mic to record them while at the same time using the microphone in the video camera. Later on, in your video editing program, you can take out the audio from the video camera and replace it with the audio you recorded with the portable recorder.

Anyway, following these tips will make your videos much better...
