Does anyone know of any good sites to make passive income? I know I could do a search, but I want to know ones that other people have tried that have worked well for them.

There is the smart "passive income blog" and also Adsense Flippers who can help if adsense passive income is what you are looking for. Try searching for "Passive Income" in iTunes for some good podcasts about it.

      Hi there,

Yes, it is very important for you to know what your are most interested in, and what your skills and abilities are. In this way, finding a gold mine where you can have passive income would be easier...

Also, remember that in order to succeed, you must be able to do what you love, and endure when at times it gets rough, because you love it.

      Best of luck!

Why not try having Adsense on your site?
    {{ DiscussionBoard.errors[7022656].message }}
  • Twinkenterprises,

You could try Logbud. This is a website that accepts articles written by its users and then it displays Adsense ads on your article pages. If you can write well about subjects you have a lot of knowledge on, you can potentially start earning some extra cash.

    This is their website,

LogBud - Earn Money Writing, Residual Income

You did not mention what TYPE of passive income you are looking for. There are many types.

If you are looking for one that you have to do very little or no work at all, then putting money in an interest earning account is the way to go. Takes a lot of money to do this.

If you are willing to work "hard" for a "few years" for a little money to build a large passive residual income later. I would recommend looking into network marketing opportunities and find a team you would be a good fit with. Put an emphasis on TEAM! A good team will work with you and help you. A bad team will do nothing for you.

Go to Clickbank.com and find a product to promote in your area of interest.

#1 - Start writing and posting articles with your link promoted at the bottom
#2 - Make YouTube videos and promote your link in the description
#3 - Post your link to Facebook and Twitter!

    Hope that helps!

Thanks for all the advice. I was thinking of sites where you make a small investment and can earn interest on that. I tried Alert2Pay and had some success with that one. The only thing is the company seems to have a lot of problems with thier website. I was just wondering if anyone knew of any similar to that that were more reliable.

i think two factors we would need to know are #1 how much money are you willing to put into a passive income deal, and #2 how much time would you initially put into setting it up? based on those two factors someone could give you there professional opinion.

        P.S. don't discount network marketing...

    Hi,
Well, I just realized I should tell you about some of my experience. I write articles about fashion that get posted online to examiner.com. I used to be a personal shopper for clothing and gifts and household items for people. I'm not really doing that often anymore. The examiner articles I can't really promote in any way other then post links to my email or twitter and a link on my personal web page. For example I don't get credit if I posted a link to one of those articles to a site that generates traffic. I make jewelry, which I try to sell online, but it seems to not do so well. I know a lot about business and sales, but I'm not really a good sales person. I kinda know what to do, but when I try to implement it, I don't have good results.

There are actually a limited number of business models. You could go for blogging (Work From No Home, Unstoppable Affiliate, Google Sniper 2.0, Affiloblueprint 3). All of these courses are quality and teach much of the same thing -- just at different price points, some have forums and a bunch of extras).

You could go for having your own PLR store (Private Label Rights is content that can be purchased, modified, and used as your own. People purchase this because it's cheaper than hiring a ghostwriter - see PLR ATM)

    Good luck,

To me, a 'passive income' is the ability to do the work ONCE and get paid for it over and over.

People have mentioned article writing, promoting clickbank products, flipping sites, to me, that is not a passive income, rather, just ways to make money online. You still need to keep writing for a more consistent income stream and clickbank products have a lifespan depending on what niche. (Though some are an exception and you don't strike it all the time)

A true passive income is what all IM'ers strive for - for eg. Adsense, Membership sites, Info Product sites just to name a few.

I agree with your interest in passive income, I am all about passive income, I own a property management company which to me at this point from the way I set it up is a residual and passive income business, however that is in the offline world

In the online world I enjoy passive income from a few opportunities I am part of, one is profitclicking, I have a 150% ROI from that company currently, could and should be scaled way up, great opportunity if your looking to invest a little to a lot of money and watch it grow very passively. Buy stock in companies with a high dividend yield. You can easily get 5% or more while most "high yield" savings accounts aren't even hitting 1%. It's passive income and should you ever need the capital, any gains from selling the stock will be taxed at just 15%, assuming you hold it for at least a year.

Are you looking for a passive income?
While traditional investments can provide results that amount to a couple of percentages per day, This option can provide daily returns in excess of 5%, 10% or even 15%! These returns can jump even higher on exceptionally profitable days. Surely, there are occasional days that fail to produce a positive return, however this is mitigated to a 5% stop-loss rule.

You will never lose more than 5% of your investment in a single day.

As some other people mentioned... the best way to have passinve income is to build yourself an email list.

Then every prospect that is sent through your follow up sequence will ready your messages and some, but not will purchase products you recommend if done correctly.

Also, when suggesting products try to add a few into the mix that have a recurring billing -- like membership sites, hosting, coaching, etc etc. You can easily turn one sale into an ongoing one. Just remember to keep adding value to your prospects lives.

Many successful Kindle authors from this forum as well as elsewhere have disciplined themselves to crank out 20-30 page ebooks on a variety of the hottest subjects. They have spent the time upfront to build a base of 40-80 ebooks and now they are seeing residual income from their work every month.

There is a lot of great information in this forum devoted to Kindle (even a subforum) so I would say research some effective Kindle publishing techniques so you can sharpen your saw and then spend time every day cranking out your ebooks. Over time, your results would snowball into a nice passive income - without a doubt!

You can get some SEO benefit with proper keyword placement. Many times low-tail keywords in your ebook's title do results in page 1 ranking for that keyword phrase.

So yes, spend some time keyword researching but also spend time focusing on those techniques that will help your ebook rank well within Amazon itself for greater visibility. There are good threads in WF about this!

Sometimes, but not usually. But if you like writing and can churn out books on a consistent basis and string out a few sequel type books, Kindle can be a very consistent source of income.

You'll have to promote the books initially, and you may have to write a few dozen books, but after a certain threshold you should hit the tipping point and your income from Kindle will be almost passive.

I hesitate to say that it'll be completely passive, because that implies doing no work at all after a certain point, and somehow I don't think that's a realistic scenario. Besides, why would you completely quit something that you like doing?

Most people I know have to work hard or had to work hard to generate a passive income. The idea is to find something that can make money and then work hard at it until it works for you, and then you might not have to work so hard at it.

The website Smart Passive Income does have a lot of good information on it, but I don't think Pat Flynn is passive in generating his income - he post regularly to his blog, does weekly Podcasts and more.

I'm sure this has already been said but creating your own products, membership site, or an authority forum where people pay you to advertise will earn you money passively once they have been set up. Also via adsense, affiliate videos using youtube, you could even do dropshipping where an order is made on your website but it goes straight to the drop ship company and they send out the goods. There's so much potential, and so many different avenues to go down, however to start off you just need to choose one and stick at it for a while, get it up and running and then move on to your next income stream. It will not happen overnight, but you will definitely get out what you put into it!

The closest passive income stream I have is from promoting cloud software for a niche business. It's not 100% passive because some customers stop using the software, but the churn rate is low (business software retains customers pretty well). I just set up a funnel to generate more sales each month than number of customers lost.

I promote plenty of "recurring commission" products, but recurring commission software has worked best for me because when a business invests in software for their business and set it up, they don't stop using it all that quickly.

Passive income is income that pays you over and over again from work you did once. So if you sell an information product you make a one time sale. This wouldn't be considered passive income because you only got paid one time for your efforts.

From my experience the best type of passive income is income you generate by selling things that are crucial to building an online business. Things like Autoresponders,Hosting,Domain Subscriptions, etc.

You could make a full-time living just promoting the tools I mentioned above. Once people buy these type of tools they keep them for years and years and you get paid for the lifetime of those subscriptions. Think about how many years the electric company has made money from you.

I'm not sure online passive incomes actually exist. Whatever internet marketing method you choose, you're going to need to monitor it, update it, keep finding new traffic sources for it or tweak existing ones, be aware of changing trends and what the competition is doing etc etc.

      It's an ongoing process...

That type of answer gets thrown around a lot whenever the subject of passive income emerges (the notion that there is no such thing as passive income.)

Even if someone does have to do everything you mentioned, it's entirely possible that these things happen at irregular intervals or not very actively (hence, passively.)

Listen up, people: Passive income doesn't strictly mean "not doing any work at all." It could also mean working on something on occasion or irregularly.

I'm desperately hoping this post puts an end to the whole "it doesn't exist" crap that always keeps popping up.

For example, there are people here who wrote a Kindle book YEARS ago and haven't touched it since. But to this day they still generate hundreds or thousands of dollars every month/year.

I don't know really what "passive income" is. I read about it on blogs, where people work there a*s of to earn "passive income". For me passive income is something like a warren buffet who has invested for 50 years, and now can(could) really do whatever he wants, without EVER having to worry anymore about financial issues. I don't know if there are any people in IM (or other online businesses) who fall into the same category.

Yes, there are LOTS of people that earn a VERY respectable income online. But if they would stop with what they are doing, their revenues would also stop (maybe with a lag of a couple of years). So what is passive income????

You're asking the wrong question. In fact, the whole idea of "passive income" is a lie. And if your focus is on "passive income," your focus is totally on the wrong thing.

As mentioned in this article (The Top 4 Reasons Why 'Passive Income' Is A Dangerous Fantasy - Forbes), Bryan Franklin, a Silicon Valley executive coach, pointed out: that "...the fundamental flaw common to all intentions to create "passive income": the focus with such efforts is totally on the wrong thing.

'Every time I've seen someone create a business, with the ultimate intention of getting away from that business and its customers as quickly as possible, instead of moving towards that business and its customers, it fails.

"What makes business work is creating value. If you're going into the business with the intention of not creating value, but of having it magically provide money for you, then you often make really bad choices. The business that you're investing in or creating doesn't tend to be creating value for its customers or for anyone. So it doesn't tend to spit off the cash you're hoping it will. So many times I've seen people pursue passive income, and end up having active losses instead. They just spend a lot of time and money trying to push responsibilities off on other people and having it not work.'"

Another excellent article is The Myth of Passive Income & The Best Thing That Ever Happened to Online Business (do you agree?) | Live Your Legend

When people talk about "passive income", they're really talking about leverage. First, entrepreneurs figure out how to create value and then they automate that process. But there is ALWAYS work up front -- usually A LOT of work.

Once the up front work is done, the goal is to then leverage your time, money and expertise as much as possible for as much return possible. That DOESN'T mean NO work.

Unfortunately, the myth of passive income plays to our natural tendency to try to get something for nothing or to game the system, to feel like we've pulled one over on someone.

But if this is your driving force, you'll fail. You're much better off choosing a smart business model in a niche you're passionate about. Smart business models used by the wealthy include:

    1. Publishing
    2. Membership-based businesses
    3. Real estate

What a lot of Warriors fail to realize is that IM has a lot of leverage already built into it. You're not in a field doing farm work, getting paid on an hourly basis for your labor. The Internet is already a system of connected, automated processes. These models take it a step further.

If you offer services on an hourly basis, you can leverage and "productize" your services by creating info products around what you know and do. (This is the publishing model.) Now you've taken the hourly service work out of the equation. If you can sell enough info products to equal or surpass your service-based income, you've taken a GIANT leap forward in leveraging your business and increasing your income -- and freed up a LOT of time (which can now be used to generate MORE income).

But understand this: in ANY business, there is ALWAYS a certain amount of up front work. There is ALWAYS a certain amount of "maintenance" work (customer service, tech support, etc.). And there is ALWAYS marketing to do.

You can't get away from that -- unless you become a venture capitalist and just fund other people's businesses, invest in the stock or bond market, etc.

Bottom line: if you're looking for completely "passive income", you're just another idiot looking for something for nothing. People like this WILL fail -- and DESERVE to fail.

I would suggest this simple process:

    1. Create a blog with valuable content

    2. Optimize blog for optins

    3. Drive traffic to blog

    4. Build email list

    5. Create a deep follow up sequence and sales funnel promoting products from your niche and giving value.

    6. Email list daily

I generate passive income with a store on Zazzle. I create designs and put them on their products and receive a % markup (which you can decide). It's nice creating something once and receiving checks every month for items I may have created months ago!

I have that setup for my Board Section group members, but it can be done on any forum.
In one board setup a sales page
In another you or have the forum owner setup ontopic rss feeds for content
Have a note in your sig to Subscribe and click NOTIFY for updates thus building a following
Use your sig file to drive people who read the feeds to your sales page
You can also add Clickbank and Amazon rss feeds in with the news feeds
Your main sales page link can even be an affiliate redirect since you have actual content via the feeds to draw readers.

There's an interesting company called Raisean Sky.

You basically invest in their public cloud services business, gaining daily interest on your deposit. As far as I can tell they are legit. Good reviews and so on.

I would throw in promoting supplements or creating your own supplement business.

It requires some funds but you can basically start low with promoting other supplement offers.

Did you know that the market size for supplements is expected to exceed 60 billion US$ in 2021?

Now imagine you get just a tiny percentage from a tiny segment of that market => boom.

You should get a mentor though to get the best ROI on such an investment. You may want to Google for 'Supplement Millionaire' and Doberman Dan.

    Take care

Passive businesses don't exist unless you can make it rain money on command.

In saying that think what you mean to say is you are looking for some easy money.,,, if that's the case...I've said it before and i'll say it again.

    eBay bro.

Easiest way to make a quick buck.

I literally as in just now had a guy come and collect an old broken washing machine which I was about to turf away and he paid me $30 for it. He and his brother fix them and re-sell them or use the spare parts.

If you think you have nothing to sell you have not looked hard enough. And if you really don't have anything to sell then make a deal with friends and family. They give you all their stuff, you sell it for them and you split it 50/50.

Everyone overlooks eBay and I see lazy morons (not you) literally begging on this forum all because they are too lazy and or stupid IMHO to take some pictures of some stuff and upload that stuff to eBay.

One mans trash is another mans treasure.

One thing we can safely say is that Passive Income requires a lot of research, hard work and taking action. If you focus, it's within your grasp but if you keep wondering from one product to another without mastering the first one, then the chances are your not going to make passive income

To create passive income, make multiple streams of income available to you. What I mean by this is to make a lot of different projects. For me I have 25 niche sites, 10 Kindle books and 50+ apps in the app store.

I make passive income from this as it's all set and forget. I made the books and continue to bring in money from it as well as with the apps. You can't really make passive income with niche sites as you may have to edit the content, change affiliate products etc.

    What worked for me:
    - Affiliate marketing: Rank long keywords with small amount of searches, sell affiliate products related to the article your ranking
    - Build a list: Collect emails on all your website, keep in touch with your lists and keep sending them relevant content
    - Sell something on fiverr, OR resell something from fiver over your own website (buy for 5 on fiver, sell for 40$ on your site)
