I need help monetizing my celebrity weight loss blog

I have a celebrity weight loss blog that gets over 1700 unique visitors a day. The unique count was much higher when I posted daily (2400-3000). The strange thing is the site doesn't make any money. I currently have adsense on the site, but the click through rate is awful. The site only makes $1-$3 a day. I think a lot of it has to do with over half of the traffic comes from google images and I'm using the default theme so the layout isn't the best. Most of post are indexed in google within a couple of minutes. I've tried putting weight loss related banners from linkshare and cj in side widget without much luck. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Provide your visitors a freebie and get them into your list. Then promote them with your aff offers. You need to pre-sell before selling them anything. I worked with Adsense before and I don't like to get paid in pennies when I can make much more with the same amount of traffic

I second the comment above. Build a list, start providing value to the list and then promote offers. If you can find celebrity endorsed products it could convert well with your traffic.

Why are you only advertising with adsense? There are almost limitless different ways to go about monetizing this. Shoot, something easy to start: figure out what celeb X eats every day, put together a meal plan, and sell that. Some might already have recipe books/diet books out. Sell those for a commission.

The food angle is just one of many. Stop thinking strictly in terms of the beginner IM market (I'll throw some Adsense on there. B***hes love Adsense) and get creative with your business.

    • Try monetizing with some CPA offers and definitely go with above and build a list.

You could even use one of those CPA offers as an OTO for your list.

I'm not sure you have to give a freebie to get them to opt in, either. It could be something kind of snazzy in the upper right hand corner like optinskin that says "Sign Up Here to Get the Freshest Celebrity News!" with an email only optin form.

Also, do they do a lot of commenting on your posts? I imagine that they would. I have a plugin that came with a course that opts people in when they comment on the blog. I don't know how one could buy just the plugin but I could try to find out how. Let me know.

You could also try a plugin like WillR's here that emails them when they comment. Once they comment, they receive an email from you. Maybe you could have an offer there? Will's plugin is below:

Like others have said, the best way is probably to build a list. Offer them something really attractive in exchange for a signup. There are a ton of products you can promote in the weight loss industry, but you'll probably get the best conversions by picking what you recommend very, very carefully. People purchase from people they trust so don't go too crazy experimenting with all kinds of offers.

To encourage more sign ups, it may help to remove distractions like Adsense.

It sounds like people are only coming to your website for information, or to copy an image. Try using a content locker or have your visitors log in to your site with Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn or Pinterest before they move forward.

First, discount your Google images traffic because they are worth next to nothing.

Put some affiliate links to either weight loss product or a celebrity nude site. Both convert well.

I think before you start thinking about building a list, or anything like that, you need to really think about your traffic.

Like another warrior above said, they are probably going to your site to look at and/or download pictures not to buy something.

So they are in a sense information gatherers, not buyers.

that is not the kind of traffic that you want.

Not only that but think about what kind of visitors you are attracting with "celebrity weightloss" I am betting it is not people who truly want to lose weight themselves but people who are more interesting in gossiping about their favorite movie star, or their favorite celebrity.

I could be wrong on this second point, but I might be right also.

So I would seriously take a look at the traffic that you are getting and figure out where you can start getting better, more targeted traffic. And then build a list out of that second group, not the first.

Try promoting a quality weight loss product rather than adsense. Done right it obliterates adsense revenues.

Agree with above posts. With that many daily visitors, you could easily build a list by giving away free reports and helpful content. Your audience seems to be pretty targeted, so I'm sure a decent percentage would opt in.

Have you thought of generating leads for weight loss companies? I have a client that does that and been very successful at it. A weight loss lead can be sold anywhere from $10-20 everytime someone fills out the form.

Though in order for lead generation, the site must be well designed, optimized and most important well ranked for weight loss related keywords. I can help you start building a list of decent weight loss related keywords and start driving organic traffic ideally people who are interested or searching for weight loss program or solutions online. Hope this helps. Adam.

Why not advertise big name well known weight loss exercise programs like P90X, Insanity, Slim In 6 etc?

Beachbody products should sell well on your type of site. But.... Yes there is a butt... You have to live in the US to become a Beachbody distributor. You also need to be sponsored by an existing distributor.

Go check out all the Beacbody products and if you don't already know a Beachbody distributor, just send me a PM and I can possibly sponsor you.

Just noticed you don't have enough posts to use PM. Just hit me up on the last link in my sig.

Try an opt-in, build a subscriber list, and market them later with targeted offers that may interest the demographic. I am guessing it's 15-30 year old women (just a guess). Use acne skin products, weight loss products, dating, and other products that may interest them either in your e-mail blasts or on your blog.

Also, maybe you should change your blog style. Maybe you can post it for us to see it and critique it?

What is the core value of your offering ?

Is it any particular advise , concentrate on that, not adsense. Be interactive, just quantity of content will not serve any purpose.

Be interactive on Facebook, Health Forums & keep the Best Core Value Item for sale, people are interested in genuine things, they are ad-blind.

Interact - share - help , thats the way , then your site will make you money as a biproduct

Why don't you try creating weight loss patterns with celebrities? Write articles like: '5 celebs who use the paleo diet', 'top 10 celebs who lost weight using the Mediterranean diet' and so on. Explain the basic steps for following that diet, name the celebs who endorse it and then make a call to action by adding an affiliate link in the end of each article, with an ebook on that particular diet, from clickbank! The commissions are high - and you can go for the best selling ones.

You should also build a list, like everyone else said, by just popping up an optin form with perhaps a giveaway, like a weight loss report, something interesting. You can email them on a daily basis, with short 'Today's tips', and use PLR articles on weight loss for that. Or just send them 'today's celebrity success', with some famous person of the day and her/his diet secrets. Every once in a while, you add a paid product, too, and see how it converts.

I have a weight loss ebook I wrote, actually, on diet cocktails (how to drink alcohol when you're on a weight loss quest). I'm testing the sales as we speak. It fits quite ok with your niche, so PM me if interested in offering it on your website, with commission, of course. You can look it up in the clickbank marketplace, it's called The Diet Girl's Cocktail Agenda.

    Good luck!
