Some Questions About My Plan

Figured you fellow Warriors would be the best people to ask, so here we go.

I'm going off my normal course of action here into something a bit different, and could use some advice.

I'm about halfway through getting my new blog set up, I've got the domain and the hosting, thrown up Wordpress with a good SEO plugin (haven't customized the theme yet, I actually grabbed a free one that is simplistic and works for me, may or may not build my own theme in the future). I've gotten the About Me page written, and a list of topics for my first 10 posts that I'll be knocking out the content for today and this evening. After that I'll submit to all the search engines and go throw a few linked articles on Squidoo, Hubpages, or Yahoo. Already have the topics for those, as well. I'm working a niche that I've got a lot of experience in.

The blog is going to be information based, and I'm planning on monetizing through ads, downline on some of the ptc sites I play around on, and affiliate sales through Amazon and possibly CB. The future plan is to offer an as-yet-to-be written ebook for sale (I've already got the title, topic, and outline done, just haven't filled out the content yet).

So, here are my questions

1. What article site do you feel has the best a) click-through rate and b) revenue sharing system in place.

2. What's your favorite ad program? I've heard some detrimental things about Adsense, so what are some good alternatives?

3. What's your favorite email capture program? While I'm not planning to hit people with an incentive program for signing up just yet, I'm still going to be building a list to target in the future, as well as for sending out notices of new content, new products, etc.

4. What am I missing? Yeah, I know, big question there, but in these basic stages can any of you experienced bloggers spot anything that I've missed in my plan?

Thanks in advance for the feedback. And yes, I do plan on throwing up a link to the site here once I've got it ready to go live. Right now it's pretty much an empty slate, so not much point. lol

    1. Article marketing purposes, Ezine articles was once upon the time the big daddy. Also you have GoArticles & Article base. In terms of click through? Well to be honest I've never used article marketing to get clicks to my website; I do get a little traffic, but the main purpose for me was to get backlinks at high authority. So for that purpose, Ezine articles works just fine.

    The best reason personally to use article marketing is so people can use your content; but to be honest nowadays, with spinners etc, people can easily take the content, and just rewrite it without even using your content in the end. So I just use it for backlinks now, and maybe some SEO purposes, but mainly backlinks.

    2. Adsense is ok for me. Never tried other platforms, not a fan of PPC/Adsense.

    3. I use Aweber, it's reasonably priced and recommended by most. It's very easy to use and does what you need it to do. (on a side note, I would suggest starting to build a list immediately. Don't delay, do it now! Your list is your commodity, so start building it. In fact I would suggest chasing new opt ins, rather than sales straight away. It can help you create a solid foundation for your business.)

    4.Honestly, you will miss a lot of things. Everybody does, and everybody learns as they go. I would suggest, make daily plans of what you want to accomplish on that day, then go and achieve those little tasks. Take baby steps, and eventually you will have created a massive beast.

    Just TAKE ACTION. Go do it, experiment, and create high value content. Good content will always make you money, so focus one that.

    Your main focus points should be:
    1. Good content
    2. Drive traffic
    3. Build Your list

    When those things are on rotation you can focus on the other bits as u go. U will be learning forever in this game.

      One thing I feel I must add is that you should consider, just consider a premium theme for your website. Prepare to look for hours for one on ThemeForest that you think you can modify to make it look amazing.

      With some work, you can turn a $50 wordpress theme into a permanent, professional looking website. Assuming of course that is what you are aiming for. Just my opinion and I hope it helps you in some way.

        Chances are that I won't purchase a premium theme, however I may design my own. I do agree that a unique theme helps to make the blog unique (is that redundant?) but I've had enough experience building themes that it would have to be a fairly killer theme for me to drop money on it.

          It sounds like your an action taker and off to a good start.

          E book writing can be outsourced. So can a lot of what your doing.

          (Elance/odesk/fiverr)

          Outsourcing employee level tasks will free up your time to do more boss level activities.

          You're off to a good start for sure though. Good job.

            I agree. I think outsourcing would be easier for you because you already have a solid business plan in place. Outsourcing the tedious tasks will free up some time so you can do more.

    @ KingDavid: While the ebook could be outsourced, it's actually one I'm looking forward to writing, as it's a topic that I have quite a bit of experience in. I don't think a ghostwriter could ever convey the information in the same way I would.

    As for taking action, it's the only way I've ever found to get anything done. My theory is that even if this endeavor fails, I'll pick up some useful information from the failure and be able to use that information to succeed on the next one. Not planning on it failing, needless to say, but I recognize the possibility.

    @Larry: I'm not expecting to see any substantial income from this blog for quite some time, honestly. It's more of a long-term goal to semi-passive income while helping others out than a quick riches scheme. I gave up on the pipe dream of getting rich quick some time back, although I do still spend my dollar a week on the lottery. Never know, I might get lucky someday, right? Anyhow, patience I have, just wanting to make sure I'm heading in the right direction while it's still early enough to steer onto a new course.

    Three questions I always ask my own clients, as people tend to rush to the product side too fast, in my opinion.

    Who is your customer? Why will they want to buy what you are planning on creating? What problem of your customer's are you solving?
