List building - IM/Forex/Diet - aren't a lot of products recycled / similar??

I'm looking to get into Email Marketing, and was going to pick one of the big niches to operate in.

What I don't understand, take the diet niche for example - I assume I would be advised to sell digital products due to a high commission rate per product (e.g. $10-$20) compared to a diet supplement of a retailer where I would probably get $2 per sale............... Now aren't all the products basically the same in subject matter?! Meaning that someone who joins your list - you build trust, and then send them an offer and let's say they buy it...... 1-2 weeks down the line you do the same with another digital product - aren't all the digital products roundabout the same in this niche?!

Also what about running out of DECENT digital products to promote? - After 3-4 months - I assume you could of promoted all the decent digital products for the niche out there (except IM where there are always new products it seems!!)

I know I could turn to physical products - but I assume the commission payout is low and to get a commission payout of around $10-$20 - a customer would have to spend at least $200.

I just need a hand with the logistics of the longevity of this..................

Thanks

You don't always need to wait. Look at it like this. Your list is a huge asset of your business. Always put them before you, provide them with value, and your efforts should be rewarded

One option, of course, is to create your own products. That way you can control whether you run out of things to promote or not.

Also as a plus you can make your products stand out and be unique.

    Hi Adam,

Do not be worried about longevity of email marketing. That list is going to be your commodity; and is one of those rare elements of your IM business that can’t be taken away by Google panda, bear, husky, turtle or other animal updates. Email marketing is ALWAYS going to be here. It is the primary method of communication for all business, and I expect it to be for a very long time.

If you are in a large niche like Diet/Self Help etc, then you will still do fine. Lots of customers, and you will always see new people.

In regards to what you can keep selling? Anything related to that niche dude. Keep giving them good content/value items. Then sell them stuff. Rinse and repeat – you will get some people who won’t buy your first product, but then you will sell your 2nd one to them…

Alternatively, you can also promote other peoples products and JV with them, use an affiliate link and just make money selling other peoples stuff.

You can also pitch membership products; i.e. products that require monthly fees. This essentially comes down to your creativity; find new things you can sell, develop new products and so forth.

Also don't forget, you will always be selling to new people, becuse you will always be growing your list. So don't worry about that.

I hope that helps! I assure you, building your list is not a waste of time; it’s a great asset for your business, and one you will love for the rest of your business life.

    Hi Adam!

Don't allow too many questions to linger around in your mind as this can cause you to NOT TAKE ANY ACTION!!!

    Or paralysis of analysis...

Just choose a big enough niche to start building your list towards and focus on building a relationship with your list.

Provide enough reason for them to trust you by giving outstanding and useful information from day 0 - day 10 at least.

Then you have a base to work with and you can always change, test and tweak along the way.

There is nothing stopping you from changing your sales funnel at any time.

Email marketing is a great way to market to people who are already interested in what your business has to offer as product or service.

Hope this helps and hope you take that all important first step!!!

    Why?

When I started, 4 years ago, I did that at first, but (fortunately) changed my mind when I couldn't earn anything and then went for quite small niches, with which I was far more successful.

If I were starting again tomorrow, I'd possibly go for even smaller ones, at first.

The three you've mentioned in your title aren't niches, they're so big. They're markets, and huge ones.

Two of them I know very well and wouldn't touch, myself.

Starting off in what people call the "IM niche" is almost certainly the commonest single mistake that beginning affiliate marketers make.

I haven't really read enough of them to be sure, but from looking in bookshops and at generally available online information I'd say the answer to that is probably "no".

In the area of Forex, that happens almost the day you start.

I have real experience and expertise in that area (not as a marketer: as a consumer, participant, writer, trader and because it's been my father's profession since before I was born), so in some ways it would be the perfect niche for me, but I can't really find anything in it at all that I'd be willing to promote to subscribers/readers/visitors apart from some low-commission books. (It's a niche in which I'd potentially be interested in producing my own products, but that's a different matter altogether).

Actually this isn't necessarily right, but clearly it's true that digital products tend, overall, to have much higher affiliate commission percentages.

I think that (with the possible exception of diets, about which I know least), you're looking at bad markets to start on. With weight loss, in general, there's undeniably great potential longevity for the marketer, because according to the World Health Organization and other presumably-reliable sources, the proportion of overweight/obese people who ever manage to lose their excess weight and keep it off over the long term is well under 1%.
