Article Marketing Tracking

Just a question, how do you (or can you) track which articles people are clicking on to get to your website? I know I can go to the articles directions and see which articles are being clicked on and such... but I really want to use an analytics software like google analytics to see which links are being clicked on my articles and where they are being taken. Because sometimes I put 3 different links on one article.

Is this a possibility or am I just stuck with the information from the article directories I submit to themselves?

You have to create campaigns on google analytics. Then get your campaign url which GA will create for you and use it in your particular article.

This way you will be able to track visits & conversions from each article.

I agree Google Analytics is very very powerful, it is just that most of the advanced stuff isn't talked about often.

ask yourself WHY do you need to track it.

i usually only bother about search rankings.

Here is a thread where we went into a pretty deep discussion on tracking your articles and web 2.0 properties. There is some PHP code you can use to track your articles for free in this thread.

There is a lot in this thread, about half way down we really get into the meat of tracking articles and other web links.

You can also look at tracking software that's available. The paid software is pretty good depending on your needs, I like Affiliate Prophet.

There is some free software as well, Tracking202 (service) and Prosper202 (self hosted) that can track your articles or other links. They are designed mainly for PPC, but can be used to track any link and the click through rate of your landing page as well so you know how it is doing.

    I hope this helps

    Good Luck...
