Best place to hire illustrators for a book?

Hey Warriors, do you know of any good quality sites where I can find/hire an illustrator for a new print book? I'm looking for original illustrations, not stock photo junk.

Any ideas to point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

I'm gonna have to say Fiverr!

If you invest some time into searching, you can find high quality artists who do a really good job.

    I agree with Mr Ace.

Fiverr is just so damn cheap, and I've had some reliable artwork there done.

If you need a BUNCH of artwork done, workout a deal.

If you want direct contact with illustrator and not 3rd party agent, here is a good one. I used her before in my projects (from anime and children's books)

You should definitely try deviantart.com. The most phenomenal artists are on there. One of my favorites is ravenskar on deviantART and her blog is here: Viet-My Bui.

I guess you could try Fiverr, pretty nice gigs there for just $5, and I am sure you could find what you are looking for.

  • Hi Dayne- I also agree with Fiverr, but as was said you need to do research. You had hit the jackpot and you can also get crap (in fact you probably will). But since it's so cheap, if you spread your bets, by hiring 4 or 5 illustrators at once to make you illustrations, you are most likely going to find a really good one among the bunch and it only cost you $20-$25....

You can try on fiverr- if you look for something cheaper. You can ask a portfolio first to see the work.
Another good option is to take a look at deviantart, to find an artist that compiles everything you are looking for and to contact him/her.

Their website lets you search for illustrators and they also have a discussion board.
