I have a new affiliate program.

Hi All,

Ive been lurking for years on and off - been an affiliate for just about everyone for 15 years.

I have my first ever affiliate program now ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

As you can imagine after 15 years - its a HUGE step for me.

Now how can I get affiliates?

Do affiliates join from here or a subsection here? Because I am just signed up - how can I let people know about the program.

(I sell a product - not info or anything - its a product to the public).

Thanks all

    Hello dude,

Head over to the JV section on this Forum, I'm sure you can get some people to help there.

There is a section for "Affiliate Programs" on WF (near the bottom) where you can list your program. It costs a small one-time fee but stays on the first page for quite a long time, so that's worth looking at if you ask me.

I've heard many complain of 'not-so-great' results from posting in the Affiliates section here; it's kind of a dead section.

Posting in the JV section will probably strike up a bit more interest.

Its up already - what should I do now anyone? I really would help affiliates get up and running should they need help. Where else is good online to promote such a program? I want to stay away from the networks as I find them too dominating tbh.

Is there a difference between a JV and just running an affiliate program? Im not too clued up on what a JV is and how it fits the affiliate model.

What do affiliates want most? Figure out to give them these things inexchage for subscription to your affiliate promogram.

Manie I think on forums a "handle" is what I am used to. I wouldnt want my competitors following me round now would I?

Andy - I have read your post. Yes - I can bend over backwards for affiliates having been one for 15 years. I *percieve* I have difficulty kind of *notifying* them the program actually exists. Its more a problem of finding them... to me anyway. But thats just my perception - maybe they are easy to find and I dont know it!! Thats where I need some help.

      Finding them is easy -

1 - Come up with a list of relevant keywords
      2 - Search for them
3 - Contact the owners of the sites you find

      Job done.

        I am doing that Andy.

        Is that not spam though?

Do you know of an automated method for doing this?

My reason is not laziness - im anything but that - its just that there are probably more appropriate sites out there than it would take me to write to in a lifetime.

Naturally I have written to some very relevant forum owners and its fingers crossed for those - but some kind of a blast would be good.

I could scrapebox a list - but then I would need a crawler to extract mail addresses and an auto form filler.

In your view - (whilst I continue to write each day personally) - is the above thinking unethical in anyway?

It is not a spam as long as you are sending an email that politely asks the webmaster about his/her interest on your affiliate program. Your email or business letter should not sound nor appear like a canned response. That will eat a lot of your time but there are ways on how you can just come up with a single template for your business letter.

Also, automating the process is not a bad idea. Just make sure you don't spam those webmasters with offers that are irrelevant to what they do online.

It'd be easy to automate but the results you'd get wouldn't be worth it.

If all you do is send the same email to a bunch of email addresses you scrape off whois data the response rate you can expect is awful.

Instead, take some time to find out what those websites are about and work with them to figure out how to profitably promote your stuff.

If you can't possibly approach them all then hire people to do the approaches for you.

If you can't profitably hire people at $10 an hour to do it for you ... then why are you doing work worth < $10 an hour yourself?

          Cheers,

          Andy

    Manie/Andy.

I envisage that affiliates want everything. I certainly do - I am an expert seasoned affiliate I suppose.

    Good conversion rates.
    Good ROI on PPC
Allow to PPC brand names (if any)
    Products which match affiliate website.
Easy to contact and talk to the program owner.
SHOW them my Bank account if they dont trust their stats!!!!
A growing market rather than a dead one.
Something where there is not too much competition on the SERP.
    Deep links.
    Data feed.
(above two not relevant to me at the mo).

I even supply offline affiliates with a website and drop leaflets should they require it!!! FREE!!

Am I on the right lines?

I have a friend on this form who was in the same position as you. He told me he went onto the JV section of this forum. He told me that at first he had mixed results but he end up finding some good affiliates who where good earners. Now I dont know is this the case for everybody who has went to that section looking for affiliates he had a good experiance. Maybe also try to find affiliates on freelance sites aswell.

    Couple of suggestions...

    1. Definitely approach authority site owners with an offer to have them review your product (do that first before soliciting them to become an affiliate)

    2. Attend trade shows or conferences in your market - you can walk away with hundreds of potential affiliates and an excuse to contact them

    3. Hit Twitter and Facebook with the express purpose of finding potential JV partners - I find this works MUCH better than email as people generally pay more attention to their FB and Twitter dialogs (not PM's - they ignore those)

    4. Find authority blogs in your marketplace and participate - make comments, this breaks the ice and usually will get the blog owner speaking with you

    5. Search for JV broker in your given market - some have a decent level of JV brokers who feed larger affiliate sites with new offers for a middle cut.

    Jeff
