Brand new to IM and don't know squat about computers. I have the ugliest site on the net and horrible ad copy. I've been plugging away for 37 days and have managed to make $520.00 with my own product. I have questions...

When I first started I couldn't believe it, 1 to 3 sales per day was the norm - Then after a very short time, like two weeks, sales dropped off the planet. Now it's down to 2 or 3 per week. My best marketing comes from major forums that I'm very seasoned in. I do have 20 articles out as well. Most are on the first or second page of Google. I find I get one sale for every 50 visitors pretty consistently. I only get 30-50 visitors per day. Sales have really dropped off the planet but my traffic is stable. What is this an indicator of? Tapped out the forum resource? Bad Niche? Do I have a winner? The sheer lack of any pattern or rhyme/reason is driving me bonkers. I sure would appreciate any light that can be shed on this!

I suggest you determine new ways to get targeted visitors to your offer since it's converting at such a high rate.

    More articles etc.

    Are you blogging & pinging?

Do you have a blog yet? Did you submit those articles to the article directories? Create squido lences for the articles you have. There are many ways to drive organic traffic to your website and paid traffic too. PPC is the fastest way but you have to know what you're doing. You can learn all these things or outsource it.

No blogging and no lense yet. Not sure how apt my target market is at visiting blogs, let alone trusting them as a viable source of credible information - My consumers are more apt to read and trust articles written by true proffesionals in the industry. There is a lot of horrible information out there from self proclaimed experts that anyone with common sense can smell the minute they start reading. Not to mention, the word "blogging" just sounds like blah-blah-blah to me. Nothing of value there???Maybe we need to think of a new name that adds more value to this experience for our particular niche? Every niche is different I suppose. It seems you've got to be an expert in your niche or your product and image perception will lack the depth required. I guess I'll try setting up more content rich platforms, links, and see what happens. It will probably open up some new windows for me. Thank you.

First of all, congrats on your success. Most new IM'ers don't make money in their first month. Were you following a system or plan of any kind?

Second, you need to take a step back and look at the big picture for your business. Right now you're sort of scraping for traffic anywhere you can get it. You're using some GOOD strategies like forums and articles. But you need to determine how you can best position yourself and your business for long term success.

You mentioned... "My consumers are more apt to read and trust articles written by true proffesionals in the industry."

The question is, are you a professional in the industry?

If yes, you need to use that authority to create a platform for yourself.

If not, you might do well to partner with an authority in the field, or at least find one that will let you use his/her credibility to create an online persona.

Ultimately, your business plan should incorporate list building.

When you have a list of subscribers in your niche, you can generate traffic on demand, and create a sustainable income.

You should also consider recruiting affiliates to promote your product. With an army of affiliates sending traffic to your site, you don't have to work so hard to scrape traffic from wherever you can get it.

I am a professional in this niche, but not nearly as well known as big TV names. My plan was to simply get the word out about my new product through the use of major traffic forums and see what happens - seize opportunity as it comes along, no real plan in place, except flexiblity...

I was hoping of building a list only from customers who spend money on this first product, since it offers extreme value at a low price. Then laying some up and coming higher dollar products on them at a timely moment. I know this is not the popular way of doing things. I should probably look at this now that I type about it.

I found out about article submission a couple weeks ago, so yes, I have those submitted with most approved. My original plan was to just get a sales page up and let affiliates do what they do best. But this IM thing is addictive and I've come to enjoy the process. Thank you so much for your advice and thought provoking comments. Anything else?

Blogging will help you build a relationship with people interested in your product or service. Think of it in terms of how you can give them something of value and that will make them keep coming back to your blog or site.Capture their email on your blog and send them emails everytime you update your blog or have some kind of updates for your readers. May be you can give them something unique that the big TV names don't have the time or knowledge or whatever it is to give to these consumers. Plus google like fresh content and this will help you get more traffic. You can try to get a hold of someone in the same niche that is doing well online and offer them a partnership or joint venture or something. Don't give up and don't think too much , because action is the only think that will bring results

    • What is your current product? This will help me determine if you have a bad or flooded niche.

Also, you have to just keep in there, it seems that when google changed its algorithms it could have damaged your traffic, you just have to keep at it.

I mean the best success for any online marketer is just to keep motivated and keep digging in.
