Do you have both affiliate offers and adsense ads( mix them), on your site ?

Do you have both affiliate offers and adsense on your site. I do mix both of these monetization methods because: Firstly it is effective, and secondly it looks more natural to Google than having a site based purely on Adsense ads which will look like a Made For Adsense(MFA) site. And while I prefer affiliate offers, sometimes Adsense is the best option.

Do you use:

1. Only affiliate offers
2. Only adsense
3. A mix of affiliate offers and adsense ads.

Which do you prefer and why?

It depends on what kind of site you have. If you make a site focused at just heavily promoting one product then you don't want any competing products from Adsense. It also depends on what gives you the most $/click. I don't see any issue with mixing on sites promoting multiple products where you want to give your visitors multiple choices.

      Thanks IM,

I have no problem with having A pure affiliate site too, even for one product. It is the exclusive adsense ads site which I am now more wary of. It can look like it's made only for the purpose of adsense ads - an MFA site.

Yes. Do not put all of your eggs in the Adsense basket. Just look around the forum and you'll see many horror stories of why that is a bad idea.

I only bother with adsense if I am promoting a niche that has a high CPC.

I agree with the other warriors that it's best to leave it out if you are doing affiliate work, as it leads your visitors away from the products you're promoting.

I use only affiliate offers, not adsense. In fact, I always find the ROI of affiliates to be more higher than Adsense.

I'm with affiliates, AdSense doesn't like small publishers...

Only affiliate offers (and list-building, obviously).

I wouldn't want to combine that with AdSense, for two main reasons ...

    (i) My traffic tends to be very highly targeted and I certainly wouldn't want to give people additional ways to leave my site rather than staying there;

(ii) I think it makes sites look like "just another marketer's site" instead of the authoritative expert site which people instinctively believe in so much more. AdSense detracts from your credibility and trust, and since affiliate marketing is largely about credibility and trust, I think that would be a huge negative.

And that's without all the other points about having to comply with other people's regulations regarding my sites, insecurity of income, other potential problems, etc. etc.

Call me a skepchick, but although I accept that some people (I suspect a very few, most of whom have an absolutely enormous number of websites) do make a (precarious?) living through AdSense, it would take a lot to interest me in it.

I don't use both on thesame website because I need to gauge performance.

From my all experience in this vast field, i can say that mixing is the best option. It would generate more traffic and at the same time it would generate more income.

Thank for all the great replies guys!

I agree with most of the points made.

What I look for is the best way to monetize the content on my site, usually I can find relevant affiliate offers. But I would say 20% of the time there are no good affiliate programmes available, and in this case adsense can be useful a as sort of ad server of last resort.

Adsense if fine if used like this because you also have alternatives. I have no problem with having 100% affiliate offers, or mix of affiliate offers and adsense, but I will not have adsense as the sole monetization method.

I agree that the danger is building a site with adsense is you are beholden to a strict and arbitrary set of rules which have obvious dangers!

I dont do any. I have the option of including Adsense on my blog, but i rather promote my free course and my paid products.
