If you had 5 days to make $1000....

I have been in IM for a few years now, but am new to warriorforum. I've always shrugged off marketing forums. I figured that those who were making loads of cash weren't sharing their methods, and these places were simply full of newbies trying to glean a bit of info.

So I've been reading for a few hours and that's not completely true.

Either way, I've run across all kinds of posts about how to make X amount of dollars using Y methods. Interesting, but let's get down to brass tacks. What about the good old "get rich quick" fantasy?

Pretend your cat that starred in your very own viral youtube video got kidnapped, and those kidnappers want just $1000 to release cute little fluffy. How would you make it using IM techniques?

Oh and before it's mentioned by all you internetter wiseguys, I want to know how you'd NET $1000. And no, you can't just use your investment to pay off the kitty kidnappers.

Me? I'd find a nice CPA on offervault, make a nice landing page, and promote it on facebook and adsense. How about all of you warriors?

Squeeze page, sales funnel then email marketing. I'd be using paid traffic methods.

Do you think with only 5 days it would be worth it to bother with a squeeze page? Maybe so!

Believe me, if you find the right solo ad seller and have a solid sales funnel, its possible to make 1k/day.

The trick behind that is that when one sales funnel ends, another begins

Nice thread. Fact is everyone wants to earn from internet. I think, it's a vision of every newbie like you. But you need to know that vision is a gift but turning them into reality is called pure genius. Launching a landing page and promoting them on facebook and adsence is a good tactics. Keep it up bro.

I was simply stating what I would do if I wanted to make a grand in a day, and was hoping for some other constructive ideas.

I'm not fishing for info, and I've already "been out there and done it."

I just saw this post as an opportunity to exchange ideas with the community. Isn't that what forums are all about?

So there you have it. I posed the question for every reader's benefit. If it's not going to be that way then I'll just go back to feeling as I mentioned in the first paragraph of my original post!

They're not suggesting the search function for you to find methods to benefit off of. Rather, they wanted you to see that this particular exchange of ideas is nothing new. Pretty much every income range and time frame and hypothetical kidnapping has been done to death.

Lighten up a bit, and when in doubt assume sarcasm! It makes understanding poster intent so much easier lol.

<< Me? I'd find a nice CPA on offervault, make a nice landing page, and promote it on facebook and adsense. How about all of you warriors? >>

Don't you mean Adwords? If so, you're talking about paid traffic, which (obviously) costs money and sort of defeats the purpose if you desperately need to raise $1,000 in 5 days. Well, not necessarily as you could have a few dollars to invest. But I like such thought experiments better when it's assumed that you're completely broke.

<< Squeeze page, sales funnel then email marketing. I'd be using paid traffic methods. >>

This could work, but it assumes you already have a responsive mailing list. In which case, you probably wouldn't be desperate for $1,000.

<< I doubt either members or the Mods like seeing the boards cluttered with the same old threads, over and over again. If new members took the time to better acquaint themselves with all the FAQ and help available on how to use the forum - BEFORE POSTING - they would instantly realise that: SEARCH = FIND. >>

If every thread had to be completely original, this forum would a lot less busy. While the premise of this thread is similar to many others, at least is specified a certain time frame and amount of money.

I wouldn't presume to guess if such threads offend the mods, but as of now I'm not aware of any rule stating that a new thread must deal with a topic that's never been addressed before. Perhaps in the Product Reviews section this might be appropriate, but for general marketing questions it's inevitable that similar topics will keep coming up.

There's nothing to be sorry about. Forums are for questions and answers and not just a place where bullies congregate to tell others to 'use the search function.'

Personally I'd break the $1,000 into a workable goal like 'selling something for $333 three times' or charging someone $1,000 to perform a service. A week isn't long enough to expect organic traffic to save you, unless you could hit it big with a YouTube video. You can always try that. Try and piggyback on a trending topic.

    Easy..

Kidnap your rich neighbor's cat and ransom it for $2K in 24 hours.

You make an extra 1K, so good ROI. Use the cash for bail money.

Use the bail receipt as proof of earning.

Write an ebook for a WSO and make more moola, er.. kittycash.

Now you will become a real internet marketer rather than someone that claims to be one and stop asking questions instead of using the search form...

... no wait. Keep asking questions and forget the search form because you would never had learnt how to make 2K when you only wanted 1K

I'm just going to post one reply to this thread and most likely never look at it again. But SailorRob was asking a question to get our brains thinking.

Whether it was to gleam ideas or not. The idea behind it was to get the community together to discuss how they'd make money in a different light. There was no need to turn it into a "bash the noob for making an unoriginal thread" thread.

Sometimes asking a question in a different context to cause us to "ask that question ourselves" helps our brain come up with more creative ideas.

@SailorRob - I have no idea what I'd do personally. If I had no list at all, I'd send out an email to all of my personal friends/family - a few facebook messages/posts and even make a blog post about my situation or a youtube video.

        1. As stated the idea has been tried to death. It never works.

        2. The OP isn't a newb, and wasn't bashed for being one. They were bashed for not checking to see if what they're talking about is new or not (spoiler alert: it never is, and unlike other topics that occasionally bring new information this one was doomed to fail).

        3. This wasn't a different context. We just replaced $25,000 with $1,000, a month with a day, and a mortgage with a kitty ransom.

Don't you know that you should never give in to kidnappers? They can't allow your cat to live if it can identify them, and even if it were returned safely, a cat's inbred fickleness coupled with the effects of the Stockholm Syndrome would inevitably result in your moggy promptly running off back to its captors at the first opportunity.

What's with the fixation on knowing how other people would go about earning a specific amount of money in a specific time frame?

I mean, it's all hypothetical, and unless the OP wants to know a better way of doing it than he currently is, why ask?

I also don't think these sort of discussions contribute anything new when they've been regurgitated in one manner or another so many times before.

Why have a search facility if you're not going to use it?

You seem to have missed my point, which was that what you were doing is another version of what the OP did. I have no problem with a certain amount of "redundancy," but if you're going to demand that every thread be completely unique then the same should be true of posts within a thread. That's not a realistic standard, so I was just being sarcastic. Be as redundant as you want. I'm not here to police threads, but it seems like that's what you and some others were doing.

Here is what I would do, and still do from time to time although 5 days might be cutting it close for this..

    - Look for various online store owners using a top 5 (shopify, volusions, ect) by googling text that is standard for one of their store templates (footers are a good thing to search for usually)
    - Find ones that look like they could use some better graphics or ones without a frontpage slideshow/slider
    - Email them or phone them offering a $100-200 slideshow package, or some other service to make their store more professional looking. Nothing crazy unless you have the skills. Slideshows are super easy to learn how to do.
    - Do the work or outsource it.
    - Upsell some seo or other related services.

** On a side note, I don't come on these forums very much mostly because of the negative energy I see a lot of times here. I just don't get why the majority of comments here are even here?

Here is a question.. How many times has a post like this been started compared to other post of people complaining that a post like this has already been started.

    Hey Rob

Don't be put off by the negativity. The bittersweet realization here which you should immediately identify with is that those people who are taking time out of their seemingly not so busy schedules to give you a hard time wouldn't know how to raise 1K in 5 days anyways. Quantum erat demonstrandum.

You've clearly got your mind set on something constructive so you're already onto a winner above that of most.

To pave the way for discussion:

What kind of product / price would you opt for?

What size of investment would you make in the paid ads?

I hadn't even heard of Offervault, so the thread has already brought something useful to me and I've added myself a bookmark!

Well, I've done some marketing in the past that has netted me the thousand bucks that I was talking about, and one of my most successful short-lived campaigns was on Facebook, as I first mentioned. I found a weight loss product with a nice site that I thought would convert well, and directly linked it to a facebook ad that was well targeted. I tried 3 different ads before finding one that had a nice click through rate. Once I had a nice ad, the money started rolling in! The price point was $69, and 70% of that was paid to me as the affiliate.

Winslow was released today, because it seems that Hernandez is healing faster than anticipated. If he comes back the offense can and will click. Plus, it's the Bills. I'm expecting nothing less than a 14 point win. Sunday was tough to watch, but the Ravens made the last play and that is what matters. We'll see them again in the playoffs.

Actually I like it when the search feature is "not" used because sometimes a person brings something totally new and never discussed in similar threads!

    How about them apples!

It happens! It has happened on this very forum and shed a new light on how we do business on the internet. Want proof? One example: Go way back to the days when nobody used a header/logo on sales copy. Back to 2004 if you need to know. Someone started a new thread about a subject that was basically discussed many, many times and to the point many people felt that there was nothing new to add.

Then came along a spider and brought up the same subject, but with a new twist. Some of the seasoned marketers said no it would distract from the sale, but it was worth testing. Some said it would improve sales, and they also tested. End result.. sales were off the charts. Why? The internet was evolving and the majority of people with money to spend were in the age group of 20 to 35. They simply related more to sales pages with graphics - just like they simply related more to "games" with graphics.

There you have it. Rather the person uses the search engine or "not" may very well create "the next big thing" to improve your online business.

Just my opinion, but I would never tell a person to use the search form unless the same or similar subject filled up a significant portion of the front page index.

Appreciate the post Jeffery. Some valid points, however . . .

At the start of this thread at least 8+ threads in a similar vein were on the front page. There are probably as many still there now. And it will be the same tomorrow, and the next day, and the next . . .

How many variations on 'make x amount within x number of days' do we need to see, EVERY day? Sure, if a novel version of it appeared - with a twist - then the thread has value and benefits everyone. But the same old tripe with the addition of a kidnapped cat . . . I mean, c'mon.

Folk have expressed their opinions within the thread, and judging by many other recent threads I've seen a growing number of members disenchanted that the boards are fast becoming a dumping ground for all sorts of garbage. Newbies can't learn if experienced, knowledgeable members get fed up of responding to the same rehashed threads all the time.

Many would say why not just give those threads a miss if they annoy you, but it's not the point. The point is that such a plethora of 'junk' threads every day means that interesting, topical, helpful, or any other threads of real value get pushed off the front page, and as such don't get the exposure that they deserve.

ALL new members should study all stickies and faq, and the search facility should be utilised for a week before allowing any new threads to be created by them. Heck, most of their questions would be answered and then they would enter the forum with at least some small degree of competence. Whether this could be implemented in one form or another is a matter not in my hands.

Well, then we will just have to agree that we disagree.

In my own experience (not speaking for anyone) when you tell someone that you have heard it all before and they should listen or read only what has been discussed before, no matter how may times..

        End Of Innovation!

When a new member feels insulted they may very well move on to a different forum. They may very well contribute an idea in that forum that was never thought of and spark innovative business practices..

        We lose..

        The other side wins..

          I concur.

It's perplexing why people assume that there isn't potential in every thread, even if it happened to be a hypothetical duplicate given that most value is attained through branching of topics in discussion.

I guess therefore (which is certainly true in this case) we can only be sure that won't happen if people storm in prematurely with the same criticism which has also been expressed so many times before.

Your crime is not being an IM newbie (you've said you're not), but being a WF newbie

Don't feel bad, I tried a thread like this way back when, and it turned into such a flame-fest that the thread was deleted after less than a dozen posts!

But, at the risk of contributing to your delinquency, I'll offer my 2 cents...

If I HAD to have $1K in a week, I'd go offline - pound the pavement for web design jobs, building FB fan pages, anything I could do to improve a business's online presence (of course, I've been doin that kind of work for years, not everyone has the skills, but that's how I'd start out...

Oh, and welcome to the Warrior Forum!

What's with all these quotes btw? Am I supposed to be impressed or offended? I cannot distinguish. For someone so 'clever' (WF Profile), you have done a really poor job in clarifying this.

"I never did enjoy a one-sided contest" - You've summed yourself up to perfection. Maybe you are clever after all, I do apologize for the contradiction. It seems that all you seek in life is a "contest" and to do one better than others... that normally resembles someone who had a troubled/bullied childhood. Or perhaps you suffer from small-man syndrome? Either way, you come across as pretty sad, pathetic, desperate for attention and recognition, etc. You clearly have nothing better to do than put others down, or entertain yourself at other people's expense.

I genuinely feel sorry for you.

I would truly despise to be a customer of yours (that's if you have any).

As for the train ride down, go for it, I like sculpturing faces, and I'm pretty sure I could leave a long-lasting impression on you. I'll cover the costs for that, you cover the cost for the coffee and croissant.

Hit me up once you've got your ticket confirmation, I look forward to actually putting a face to your cringing WF Profile.

    • No fighting please...

Let's just assume both of these scenarios:

      • That the OP has used the search function and thereby knows there are multiple threads discussing similar situations with just slight variations, that he or she has carefully read through those similar threads and replies, that the OP isn't quite satisfied with the ideas there, and that the OP just wants to carry out what he or she intended to do, whatever that is, with this thread; and

      • That the OP didn't use the search function and thereby doesn't know that there are multiple threads discussing similar situations with just slight variations, that he or she just wants to discuss something which involves an imaginary kidnapped cat, a target amount of money and a time frame restriction that will all affect the cat's welfare based on the actions of an Internet marketer who owns the cat, that the OP isn't quite satisfied with his own ideas and thereby wants to hear other ideas from other Internet marketers in this forum, and that the OP just wants to carry out what he or she intended to do, whatever that is, with this thread... Now, for those who see this thread as a waste of WarriorForum.Com space and member time:

=>> Why not just report it to the mods? There's a button there. If this thread gets nuked, that'll perhaps be something for the OP to think about. If this thread doesn't get nuked, then I suggest to just let it be, since both sides have already contributed their insights, opinions and ideas about:

      • The OP's proposed imaginary scenario;
      • The OP's suspected lack of initiative to not discuss something that has already been discussed multiple times here; and
      • Other things mentioned between the OP and this post that can't be classified under the two types above. Now, in my opinion, what shouldn't be left here in this thread, if it doesn't get nuked when someone reports it and the mods review this thread:

=>> Childish name calling, below the belt insults, derogatory remarks, bombastic claims and condescending comments...

The list only represents an opening summary.

What follows may be an insightful elaboration of any one of those which will yield fresh information.

One thread might be elaborated into a specific discussion about Facebook whilst the other might evolve into a specific discussion about Ebay and those two threads would stand prominently as belonging to those topics when they are archived and indexed thus standing as a source of "How to profit from Ebay" and "How to profit from Facebook" - both deviations from the original topic.

I'm actually surprised this thread is still here. It does have entertainment value, though. I agree with the person who said that they would sell some of their stuff if they needed quick cash. That's what I would do.

To the person who said to pound the pavement? I spent an entire week in the hot summer sun trying to sell SEO and web services to small businesses in the area. I talked to hundreds of small business owners and passed out 500 flyers and business cards. I sold nothing. So, giving out advice is simple. Actually doing it and getting someone to hand over a $500 check to someone they just met? Not so much.

On the other hand, George Wright did it in one day(got sales). Hmm, two people got different experiences that brought different results. Could be other factors as well, but, I digress.

So I saw this page open and reloaded.. I'm glad I did. It's easy to see I don't post here often, and my "membership" starts at 09, but I can guarantee I was a member here at the very beginning.. You know, during the baud-rate era, lol.

Anyways, I really like Daniel's take on this, but can also see why others come here to type out their discontent, and I can only speak about this from my perspective which is this...

This forum is like a magazine while waiting at a dentist office to me. I come here every so often, see what's on the rack, and pick 2 or 3 things up and sit back down. I make my choices based on the headlines. My mindset does not involve researching the past for answers.. because I had no questions in the first place! I'm here to get my teeth cleaned. Until I saw the titles. Now, I am wondering... and this is why I chose it. And this is why this fella's post is important to me in this moment.

I make a decent living completely online, but occasionally I like to see what other people are doing, and these are the posts I enjoy reading. So, if you are someone who wants to bash these posts, please do people like me a favor and keep an open mind

Good choice. One take on a kidnapped cat, ransom raising thread, or multi-takes on versions of it by just gliding that cursor up the screen . . . and search.

That's great if you're a sporadic browser of dentist waiting room, reading material. Try being force fed it 24/7.

If you had no questions in the first place then that's fine, just get your teeth shined and we'll see you in 3 months time. Next appointment please nurse!

Of course it will work! Upload pictures of the cat to instagram and use their silly blurring feature to hide specific details about the cat. Then post the threat to Reddit. Redditors love cats, and chances are at least one of them is missing theirs. They'll contact you, and it's up to you to close from there.

I think I just created a blackhat WSO .
