I just created my best blog post ... now what?

I understand I can send it out to sites such as Ezine, hub pages, etc

I can also 'ping' sites, not exactly sure what that does ...

Posting it on various social media networks.

Any advice on how I can get more eyeballs on it?

    Pinging just lets the search engines know you've updated your site. If you're using Wordpress, you don't need to worry about this because it happens automatically. You should find forums and blogs in your niche, and join the conversations and make relevant comments on the topics discussed. On a blog, your url belongs in the website url section only. On a forum, it belongs in your signature.

    You also need to make sure that you are targeting the right keywords, and what not. You can write articles and put them on article directories with links in the resource boxes that point back to your site. You can submit your site to social bookmarking sites. These are just a few things to get you going. Most importantly, you need to keep writing. One blog post is not going to do it.

    Create a video version of your post and push it to YouTube with a link back to the post. Then distribute to other video sites.

    Create signature with a link on all possible forums, keep on writing and especially pay your attention to keywords.

    Tweet it, share it on facebook and bookmark it as much as possible.
    The more backlinks you have the better your chance to get good
    rankings on SEs.

    Your blog needs more exposure off page.
    Do whatever on-page optimization you need to do then distribute it to your Social Media and even Social Bookmarking. Make sure you're blog is as exposed as possible to any potential reader/client.

    You can increase traffic to your blog post by Tweeting it several times at different times. Not all your Twitter followers are online at the same time so you can send out a Tweet in the morning, the afternoon and at night.

    Change the title every time you Tweet it.

    You can also publish articles then include a link back to the article. That'll help with SEO too. Although some people say you need at least 1,000 articles online before you get any significant traffic, you may get a few hits depending where you post your article.

    Ideamarketers is picked by Bing a lot. You can post articles there for free and include your back links inside the text. Here's the link to Ideamarketers:

    You should post it on the big article publishing websites like ezinearticles (once google has indexed it) and then try to make people want to syndicate your content. Include a link back to your website at the end of the article so that when your article gets syndicated and posted on another website it works as a backlink and a traffic source.
