Great Idea for Viral Sales Page - But Can It Be Done?

I was thinking about ways I could use Twitter in my upcoming launch, and I just had a great idea (at least in my own mind) about a way to make my sales page go viral.

What if you were to add a button that said "Tweet this page and receive a 10$ coupon code," which would have all sorts of people tweeting your sales page url and you'd be giving them incentive to do so.

I'm using CB and I love the idea, I'm just not sure if there is a way to do it...any ideas on how to generate the code?

The code is pretty easy to generate. Frank Kern actually showed it in a video on his blog in a promo for butterfly marketing:

As far as hooking it into a discount though... that could be kind of hard to automate the verification. You could just sort of fake it... In other words, if they click the "tweet this" button, it will give them the discount no matter what. Most people probably wouldn't click it unless they were actually gonna tweet it.

That's what I was thinking. I set up tweet this buttons on my launch videos, but I can't figure out how I'd get the code to them. Yeah, I guess I could open a new URL with the discount link. Think it would have the desired effect?

I'm not sure if this would work or not, but you could try opening the "tweet this" link as a new window with frames. The top frame would contain instructions, the bottom frame would contain their twitter page.

The instructions could say something like...

    1) If you're not logged into your twitter account log in now.
    2) make the tweet.
    3) click here to confirm and get your discount code

Oooh, that should work. I don't know if there is a way to make the top frame refresh when they submit the tweet, but that would be optimal. Gosh if only I was a coder. If someone wrote this script they could make some cash...hint...hint.

Hehe, not a bad idea. You could always outsource it.

If you don't do it, someone eventually will, then we'll see it all over everyone's sales pages, and it will gradually lose its effectiveness, LOL. The IM tactic cycle.

Great idea! Why don't you put an ad in the Warrior Classified and see if any of the fellow Warriors would create the code for you. I know someone who writes code, maybe he can take a look at it.

I am new to the forum, so I don't exactly know if I can post his name here. PM me if you are interested and I can see what I can do.

    Best,

Turns out there was a solution made already via Ryan Wade. Viral Tweet Code Generation

Now my question is, how do I make the cookie transfer...or does it stay in their browser automatically?

Why not send them to a squeeze page, and tell them to optin to get the discount. Then once you launch... send them a link thru the autoresponder to buy.

Not sure what payment processor you're using...but lets say you use paypal. You can set up 2 payment buttons/links... 1 to the discounted price for your optins, and on your regular salespage you can send them to the normal price.

Not sure how you'd do that for Clickbank...

My plan is to use Viral Tweet Code Generation which generates a pop up tweet and a redirect url...I can get them to a discounted sales page that way, but will the cookie stay?

Get a script to search for your message on twitter.com/usernamehere.

They'll simply enter their username and your script will check and give discount coupon.
