A couple of weeks ago I ran across an article of this guy who was broke and needed to make some money for him and his family quick.
He said someone told him he should try buying and selling on CL but the problem was he didn't have enough money to take the risk, so he decided to try the free section to see what he could find.
He said he found an ad where someone was giving away a washer, so he called and went to pick it up. He cleaned it up and then took some photos and put it back up for sale.
He said he sold the washer the same day and the first week he made over $500 buying and selling on CL.
Being a skeptic I decided to go to the free section of CL in the town where I live and someone was giving away a really nice Sony TV that worked. Just out of curiosity I emailed and said I was interested in the TV. The guy emailed me back with his number, when I called I ask why he was giving the TV away and he said they purchased a new one and they just don't have the room for it?
I told him I would be right over to pick it up. The TV looked great and worked just fine, I felt guilty and convince the guy to let me give him something, I took the TV home took a few photos and reposted the TV back on CL a few days later and sold it for $65.
So can you really make money on CL buying and selling stuff? I am a believer, is this a business model I want to do? Probably not but if you need some seed money or emergency cash this would be a great way to get it.
I wrote this to help inspire anyone who reads it, yes you can make money if you use a little imagination.
