Greetings Warriors,

I guess topic name is a bit general, I'll try to be more specific.

Thing is, I've been around WF for more than a year, I've learned a lot here and found great information which I appreciate. And I've been trying different things to make money and nothing really worked out for me. This is most likely because I get overwhelmed by the amount of information and due to little money I could invest.
I've tried different "coaching" programs like DotComSecretX and other ones, but the thing is that since I still consider my self a newbie because even though I read a lot I still haven't made a penny so far. And on those coaching programs they teach you things but the further it goes the more money to invest they ask. And I end up broke and with no results. Don't get me wrong, it's not like I'm asking for compassion or to do things for me or give me money, no no no. But I think you might understand my situation.

Now what I'm asking is maybe there's someone who could set me on the right path to start making money. I would love to if someone could be my mentor and teach me some things that are good for a beginner to start making something. Basically, my situation is this: I have only spare 200~ $ to invest. I don't really have any particular skill like creative writing, etc. So selling services is not something I could really do. But I am willing to learn. As I mentioned before I don't have the best idea of how to get started to create a business because there's so much info around the web that it's just too hard to pick good method and stick to it. I'm also very hard working and willing to learn. Maybe there's a good course to follow you could offer for a newbie.

Well anyway, I hope it won't seem like I am being lazy or asking too much. I was just wondering, maybe there's someone who could help me out and show me the path, help me make those first steps to success. Because as you might already know, failing a lot of times get motivation down and I feel kind of desperate because nothing I've done really worked.

Thank you for understanding ! And I hope to get someone's response

Did the "coaching" tell you to create your own website or just try to get you making money selling the products of the coach?

If you have your own domain it would be worth setting up a blog, ideally yourname.com and start writing about the things you are learning. Use social media to interact with the people you respect, and then work to create your own report.

Give the report away and suddenly you're building a list and contacts who will may end up learning from you and buy anything you decide to promote.

Just remember to steer clear of the people who promise lots and deliver nothing once you get past the salespage.

Right... that's not very specific. Everyone is saying build a list and provides 1000 different methods and I have no bloody idea which one works properly. Obviously buying solo ad and driving people to squeeze page would work, but the fact that it requires a lot of money to invest which I don't have is an issue.

Also, coaching programs tend to be teaching to promote their products which " convert good ".

      Any other advices?

Experiment. That's how you learn what works. Taking random advice from random people never made anyone rich.

          You don't need a coach.
          YOU NEED A GAME PLAN!!!.
          In short....

Pick 1 IM niche that you are comfortable with.
Get out a pen and notebook.
          Write out a game plan.
It's not that hard to start making money online.
The 2 main reasons people fail are INFORMATION OVERLOAD and OVERLY HIGH EXPECTATIONS caused by sales pages from guru marketers that promise the world and deliver trash.

Treat this as a business, not a get rich quick scheme.
Your mindset needs to change before you make it.

Hence why you need to test and refine your strategies. There are thousands of way to get traffic. However, different kinds of traffic convert differently depending on your niche. That's why YOU must test test test! All you need is some software to track your stats, Ad Trackz Gold, Links Supercharge & AB split testing.

How much more specific does he need to be? Look it's not complicated the money is made in the list. For example the last 5 products you bought, how was you made aware of them? Chances are I'm guessing at least three of those products were brought to you via someone else's list. What i think you really want to know is how to do email marketing effectively. I have identified that most newbies that actually take action and start building their lists don't know how to build a relationship with their subscribers. This is an entire different discussion.

Erm no it does not. You can get quality solo ad's for $50. The trick is that no one really talks about is to build up a decent number of subscribers and then go full into adswaps. I'm not sure what the biting point is but i do know most people in those adswap groups on Skype won't pay you any attention unless you have a minimum of 1200 subs. with 1200 subs you should be able to generate at least 100 clicks. If you can manage that then you can increase your list size for free doing adswaps. If $50 bucks is too much for you then use the free methods that your already aware of and get building.

Again you don't need to be a Jack of all trades just pick two or three methods like forum marketing, article marketing and solo's and get going. Stop making excuses and do it.

Wooten. Unless you already have an idea of which area of IM you want to enter, all you are going to get are generic answers with little value.

I don't think that there would be too many people here who would be prepared to tell you where to start (what niche, product, service, etc). Your success is going to depend on what YOU want to do and what YOU are prepared to learn. A little bit of everything probably isn't going to cut it and trying to learn "everything" will never happen.

Successful people specialise in a specific area. That way they can concentrate on specifics and become an expert in that area. It's up to you to make that decision, not someone else.

I cannot agree more... I was lucky enough to get a mentor on WF about a month ago ...guess what was the first advise? Focus...Find the niche, breakdown to the narrowest possible sub niche and start to build your list or, I would prefer to call it community, by providing helpful information . Be a helper....not a marketer.

Also you will receive thousands of PM's from this post with people willing to coach you for a fee! Choose an area you want to be better at and then search for info here on the forum and more importantly take action.

What have you done thus far?

You should really give it your best shot because a mentor is not a "magic bullet" so to speak.

You may also end up paying more for someone's time when all you need to do is make the most of your own.

    Hope this helps.

I've bought my one and only WSO from a guy named Eric Louviere, you can find it in recent threads.
I paid $10 and it is going to be $10 per month.
I got so far, ebooks, video/audio.
Of course since I paid I make sure to read and watch/listen everything.
I find that it is great because he is talking immediately about the thing that work, and that is having your own product, this should be your priority I think, because I have wasted many years. Of course I made money with adsense, but since I recently got banned, I've set a first goal to earn $2000 per month with clickbank as soon as possible. I've worked in a bad way, selling affiliate products by trying to do the minimum amount of work (I mean lot of work now but in order to not work after, once everything is set up) and I realize that it isn't going anywhere fast enough and even if I get there, then I'll be in the same situation I was with adsense, that is dependent and getting paid to provide traffic to other people who are selling their own products and building their list.
So why should I continue to stay in the stupid pack?
There's nothing preventing me to create products, and yes still promoting affiliates programs on the side, but if my main activity is promoting my own products then what can happen else than me selling my products?
And then I can recruit affiliates and make associations/partnerships with other vendors, keep building an email list, etc.

I feel that's the real way to go for having a chance to earn much more money than I was with adsense, which is my goal if only to get a revenge on them banning me like this for nothing after 9 years. :-)

I have to second Dave Palermo's sage advice - get a GAMEPLAN. However, a plan AND a mentor will out-perform a mere plan every time. Do you really think the ultra-successful in the online marketing world did it without both? I think not.

Here's one of my favorite sayings about why so many in the home business space, including the IM space fail:

"More than a hobby, LESS than a business"

Fewer than 1 per cent of people who CLAIM to want to be their own boss and work from home, whether online or off, ever get past the point of PLAYING AT IT AS IF THEY WERE COLLECTING STAMPS. A real "business" has a mission statement, a 5-year plan, a thing called a BUDGET (including an ADVERTISING BUDGET), assessments of the marketplace they plan to operate within (we in the IM space call these niches), even (this is a very novel idea for MOST home business types) OPERATING CAPITAL!! Imagine that? Starting a business with more than is required TO BUY A LAWNMOWER...

All that said, you don't need $200,000 or $20,000 or even $200 to start - with all the crazy CPA Networks and other oppties out there, you can literally start from scratch - BUT you still need a mentor and a plan. Oh, and one other thing (also HOPELESSLY LOST on most start-up entrepreneurs): put some damn ZEROES behind your plan - ie. THINK BIG! It's counter-intuitive and requires some gray-matter-rearrangement, but it is way, way easier to make $100,000 than it is to make $100

    Wooten,

It's not a mentor that you need...you need some encouragement. From reading your post, your writing skills are far better than of many here...

Also, you would be surprised of how many here in the same situation as you are...

So, stop investing...make a detailed plan and follow it (invest if needed). Results take time. So stick to your plan and reevaluate your situation a couple of months later...make corrections if needed.

    good luck

It's good to get yourself a coach, Wooten. I personally went for a 3-day seminar which was coached by a successful internet marketer who now earns his income online. However, I spent more than $1000 for that course and it really helps a lot.

I'm not sure where are you from but among the top coaches that I've heard before includes Jaz Lai from Singapore, Peng Joon from Malaysia and Derek Gehl from Canada. Do search about them to see if any of them interests you. However, you have to reconsider your budget. They are expensive!

I offer local business mentorship, BUT unless you know what you want to do, what you want to achive there is no point looking for a mentor unless you can answer these questions your self.

What do you like to do?
What do you have interest in?
    What are your skill sets?
Can you make money from the above?
Where do you want to be in 1, 3, 5 and 10 years down the line?
What goals do you want to achive and how do you plan on reaching them? What steps have you put in place?

Do you need money to live off now? Do you have savings in palce? Do you have dependants (family) to feed?

Do you have a budget to start your business?

These are ALL questiosn you should be able to answer and figure out before looking for any kind of mentor...

Initial action plan items you can get started with:

    1. Write down your motivation and goals for your online business. If this is going to be REAL, and you will dedicate the free time you have to this and you passionately want this to work in your life...you need to capture that so you can always look back and reset when setbacks occur. If you are NOT insanely passionate about making your own business work, then don't do it and save yourself the time. You must have the burning fire to make it work.

    2. Pick a market AND a problem/desire you want to fulfill. I have always matched my interests/passions with commercial opportunities I would advise you to do the same so as you work your business each week you stay interested and can relate to your market

    3. List the multiple ways you can monetize the market/opportunity you list in #2 - this could be through selling someone else's ebook through their affiliate program, selling a physical product through an affiliate program, creating your own report, ebook or information product and selling that, or selling your own services (article writing, web design, coaching, etc...) From this list you will want to select a primary and 1-2 secondary techniques to use.

    4. Market Research - here you want to make note of the top selling products and/or websites that already exist in this niche. If you will market information, note the top selling ebook on Clickbank, Amazon, Commission Junction, etc... If you are looking at selling physical stuff, look at the top affiliate sites that come up under searches and notice their approach as well as which products they are promoting. This gets you a feel for the market, which products are working, positioning and messaging as well as content they have to generate traffic.

This will get you started - let's say this is the foundation for your new business. From here you will

    1. Have your market
    2. Have your idea for what to sell into that market
    3. A good idea of the money potential
    4. A sense for your competition and how to position around them
    5. A start in knowing how to generate traffic in those markets

Next will come the actual tactics of setting up your content, sales funnel and beginning to generate traffic to test/refine.

    Jeff

Honestly in my opinion there's no point paying so much money to a mentor if you don't know where to start or the basics of starting a business. There was once I approached a mentor he told me I Have to pay him 1k usd if I want to talk to him for 9hours. He told me simply that if you going spend so much time asking questions on the basics of the business you are just wasting your money. He also told me that instead if I asked about insider's information it will be worth the money. My advice for you is find a skill in internet marketing that will be useful like how to set up an website or how to set up an WordPress website.

IM isn't a business model or a niche it's a marketing method. I really feel that people come here looking for answers most often aren't even asking the right questions. This is about business. You could read a 100 year old basic business book and it would give you the fundamentals of what you need to do.

    1. Find a market that you like. The reason I always say it's something you at least like is because you're going to be up close and personal with it for a long time so it makes sense that you like it.

    2. Get a domain and put up a blog. Then load that domain with high quality content. And don't get sucked in the the Google worship nonsense. Syndicated content is fine. Get permission to post related videos from Youtube on your blog. Get guest bloggers to write stuff for you. Either create or have a good writer create a report you can offer as a giveaway in exchange for getting people to subscribe to your list. The whole point is to impress people with quality.

While you're doing this you aren't even thinking about making money, not yet. The first thing you want to do is create a community with lots of valuable content. Show your visitors how much you know and care about what you're doing. If you're sincere they'll sense it.

Once you do that you don't have to try hard to sell at all. People will trust you and want buy your stuff. It's about offering massive value and gaining trust. It's not about spinning articles and spamming for backlinks. That model never worked and it's completely dead now, no matter what anyone says.

You don't need a mentor you just need a solid plan that works.

The unfortunate problem with all these posts is the mindset. I'm not talking specifically about the OP, but these posts usually disparage coaching programs they've been in while at the same time expecting a very successful senior internet marketing expert to drop everything they're doing to mentor them for peanuts. Why would anyone worth their salt do this? That's why I stay away from these posts, as provocative as they are to me.

    1. Pick a market you're interested in.

    2. Start a blog about it on wordpress.com - Write something interesting every day.

    3. Comment on other blogs in the market.

    4. Setup a Twitter account and post interesting things about the market on Twitter.

    5. Setup a Facebook fan page and post interesting things about the market on Facebook.

    6. Join forums in the market and get involved in the discussion. Add a sig link to your blog.

    7. Create something interesting and give it to people in exchange for their name and email address.

    8. Write follow ups to the mailing list you're building. Be interesting.

    9. Sell the list anything in the market.

The key part about this plan is to be engaged, be interesting and get involved. If all you do is post up rubbish PLR on the blog and write one sentence comments. No one is going to be interested.

If you want people to take an interest in you. You have to be interesting.

Focus on building a good list. You have to show great value to the list. Don't always try to sell them things. Give them good free advice. If you have a useful ebook, share it with them. If you have some videos on coaching that are informative, share it with them as well. It is always important to maintain good relationships. This will certainly help you in the long-run!

Wooten, I just saw your post. I have been internet marketer for 9 years now. I have been through everything that you have said. I still have not completely made it to where I want to be but I am taking steps to get there. One thing that I have not done is to give up after many many many failures and that did not work and crap what am I doing wrong. After my rough road for 9 years now. One definite thing I have learned is. You have to find one thing that might have some potential and stick with that one thing. Ya there is going to be a doubt, is this going to work? I am going to give you a link to a program that I used to make my first sales online. It is a very good program with very good step by step instructions, videos pdfs, instructions on what to do. I really think that you can have some success. Just take it by the numbers and slowly work your way through things. OK If you have any questions you can email me at daron1352 at gmail dot com OK.

    Something occurred to me...

Just because you're not big on creative writing doesn't necessarily mean that you can't sell your writing services. Most of the writing required is very much a paint-by-the-numbers kind of writing:

You outline what you'll write, and then you just write it up. It's much like explaining stuff to a friend, and I'm sure you're pretty good at that.

    Second...

Not all ways to sell your services require writing. There are LOTS of services that do not, starting with submitting articles, bookmarking, press release submission, research, etc.

Take a look at Fiverr to get some ideas for what you could do, just to provide you with start-up funds.

I don't want to suggest that providing services is the key to making money online, especially since you'd be trading time for money, BUT it can really help in the beginning to get some cash flow going quickly so you have breathing space (and funds) to do other stuff.

    Good luck!
