How To Embed Camtasia Vids On Wordpress?

Hey Guys,

I'm in the process of setting up my membership coaching site, and I was wondering if somebody could explain how I embed Camtasia videos straight into Wordpress...

I've done a search online but a little confused by the explanations... (I suck I know..)

I need a tech friendly way. Again I suck with computers

Where do I upload the video? I am not sure where I am supposed to host the video, as I want it to be password protected so don't just want it up on youtube. If I don't host it there, where do I put it? Then how do I get it on my Blog pages?

Apologies for the noobish question..... Always learning in thus business

Cheers Guys,

Joey

You COULD put it on YouTube as unlisted (the dropdown menu when you upload). I do this for my list building training videos, but that may not look good for a (paid?) membership site.

I wouldn't upload directly to Wordpress since it will kill your load time and run up your hosting, especially when you get more members.

Two solid options are Amazon eZs3 and Vimeo Pro. Vimeo has easy embed codes and for eZs3 there are tons of visual tutorials on YouTube for setting it up properly.

Hmm. Yes paid membership site; there is no free option at all to do this??

      Youtube wouldn't work for me

What about imageshack? Does imageshack support camtasia at all?

When I actually upload the video to the hosting site, how do I actually embed into wordpress? is there a plugin for this kind of video?

      Cheers dude!

You could use YouTube, but it's more a question of how professional you want your membership site to look.

It depends on your theme and where you upload your video to. If it's Youtube, Vimeo etc, then you simply paste the URL and WP will convert it to an embedded video for you.

Some WP themes have an inbuilt option for handling videos.

Also, most video hosting sites allow you to copy/paste the embed code so you can insert it where ever you like on your WordPress page (make sure you are in HTML editing mode first).

So if I set the youtube video to unlisted, will it basically be private? I just want to make sure the content can't easily be shared.... Obviously anything can virtually be shared, but is Youtube ok in that sense?

Sorry to be noobish first time building a membership site with privye content...

I guess I couldalways host the videos on dropbox and just have it as a downloadable zip or something.

There are plugins that can help you to place a youtube video on your site without making it look like that video is indeed from youtube.

Warrior plus launched one such plug in about a month back and it did very well.

If you set it to unlisted, then only those with a link can see your video.

However this means your members could take the link and share it with their friends (on facebook for example).

Now there are a few plug ins that can (or at least claim) to stop this. Here are 2:

    Quite expensive.

    WP Video Commando

    A bit cheaper.

Note: I am not affiliated with the above 2 products, don't know their owners. I also haven't bought either one of them so don't know of their quality (read the reviews). There may also be free versions that I am unaware of.

I shared these so you can get an idea, it is possible to have a youtube video without your members being able to share the video. It is worth it to pay the little amount in the long run as you'll save on hosting costs.

    Good luck.

There is actually an option when you upload your video to youtube that will allow you to password protect it i believe. I could be wrong but I thought I saw it last time I uploaded a video.

    Good Luck!

Quit screwing around and get an Amazon S3 account. There's no money down, no monthly commitment, just pay for what you use at DIRT cheap rates. I'd be surprised if your bill is more than $1 a month.

After that, produce MP4 files, upload using the S3 Organizer Add-in for Firefox, set the ACL to everybody and copy the url to the clipboard.

Install the JW Player plugin for your blog and use the shortcode:

    [jwplayer config="myplayer" file="myamazonurl.com/bucket/video.mp4"]

    Done.

If you want more protection, use S2Member and they have built in ways to really lockdown your videos making them impossible to share and very hard to download.

An alternative to S3 is MaxCDN, that is where I have my videos for my memberships sites hosted. This lets me use their bandwidth, and it works very well for me.

I use a free video player plugin I found in the WP codex, it works great, looks clean, doesn't have a tone of bells and whistles, but I don't need them and the truth is unless you have a very specific need for a certain feature on a video player, simpler is better.

Your members want to be able to see the videos easily and that's about it. It's nice if you can throw up a lightbox or something but not necessary at all.

Camtasia is a way of recording videos and producing them, there isn't really a Camtasisa format to say that something is or isn't a Camtasia video. So you need to produce the video in Camtasia, then upload it to YT and set it to unlisted (not private), or upload it to your own server, or upload it to a place like S3 or Max CDN.

Then install a player plugin and set the switches to show in the size you want.

It sounds way harder than it is, the truth is, formatiing a Word template is harder. And once you have done this a couple of times, you will be an expert at it.
