First (two) Clickbank sales!

by kenzik
59 replies
Seems like just a few days ago I was thanking WF due to my success with Amazon and some other (non-clickbank) affiliate products. Now I have more thanks to give.

I just logged into Clickbank to check up on my experiment that I started 10 days ago...

2 sales!

Being math oriented, I of course immediately said well 2 in 10 days = .2 sales per day, in a month (.2 x 30) that's 6 sales or $107!

Naturally I now need to start scaling. I think I'll experiment with two things:
1) More (free) traffic to current offer
2) Add new offers!

I guess those 2 sales cover my WarRoom membership (technically I already got that back from Amazon + non-clickbank sales).

Yay!

And to add more to the mystery of the secret formula, this is how I chose my product.

            1) Went to clickbank
            2) Typed in my niche into the search
            3) Slid the gravity filter all the way to the right
            4) Sorted by gravity
            5) Chose the first item in the results.
            6) Went to the offer page, pretended to be a customer and read his sales pitch.
            7) Asked myself if I think it would convert and said (maybe out loud), "Yes."
            8) Checked to see if the affiliate had marketing material (banners, articles, e-mails). He did.
            9) Created affiliated link.

Someone in another thread about CB mentioned they create a presentation then upload it to slideshare. Have you tried doing that? I haven't used slideshare. Im guessing the traffic comes from Google SEO.

Do you have to build sites with CB or is there a way you can just send traffic to the product using your affiliate link???

You can send traffic directly to your affiliate link with Clickbank. For example, if you have a forum signature in a place that allows it, that signature could link directly to your affiliate site. No website needed.

You can track the source of your affiliate link (which forum, in this example) by using the Clickbank tracking ids that it will allow you to attach to your affiliate link.

I remember getting my first sale online and woke the neighbours up at like 3am screaming. LOL...ha ha.

Now you just need to know how you got that sale and upscale and outoutsource if you have the enough of the green stuff.

Good luck. You are well on your way. If you can make $1 online, you can certainly make $1000 in the next month, or even $10,000 the sky is the limit.

Congras, Track down which affiliates generated the sales and see if you can figure out the traffic source, if you have a landing page, obviously it works since you are getting conversions.

You should also consider to start promoting your own landing page on google so you can slowly shift away from paying a good chunk to the affiliates. The best way to get started is by focusing on highly targeted keywords in which you think the visitors might be searching when looking for product and services similar to what you are offering and start building quality backlinks and get strong SERPs on those keywords, quality traffic will slowly build up and eventually your conversions will outperform any other affiliates you are working with.

    Congratulations kenzik!

I know you're stoked! I remember when I made my first couple of sales, I ran screaming about my house like a banchie, lol.

Keep pressing forward and pretty soon you'll me reporting much bigger numbers

Focusing on getting free traffic is a great area to focus on. Every sale you make will be pure profit. Nothing like a 100% ROI.

Blogging and marketing through social media are 2 free methods that have worked tremendously for me.

    Keep up the great work!

Congrats! Definitely start on the list building ASAP though - put your commissions to getting an Aweber or similar subscription.

Think about it - those 2 sales that you made are buyers. The product owner now has 2 people on their list that are ready to whip out their credit cards and buy.

If you had put those people on a list and followed up with them, you would have had 2 buyers on your own list to market your own products to or other affiliate products to.

Finding traffic is one thing - finding buyers is a whole different one. Go for it next time!

You can sell clickbank products on youtube w/out a website just so you know. A lot of people say the conversions suck... but a lot of people don't do it right either.

I make horrible videos on purpose because I don't want people to think I'm a marketer or a salesman (all I focus on is making the video push specific emotional triggers). In one account, I will never focus on more than 1 specific niche. I do this because people will check out your videos, and if they see you blatantly promoting more than 1 product, they can usually figure out the deal.

If you spam youtube with links, people will also figure out that out too. I won't give you my exact niches, but I'll use a niche just as an example to show you what I do (it works really well too).

Say I'm promoting a bulimia product. I would make a stupid video with women by a toilet with a sad face/crying, or women sitting down in front of tables full of food (binging). This is enough to push the right buttons. Then I'd register the account under a celebs name who suffered from bulimia. But I'd change the name slightly so it wasn't their exact name (but close enough to figure out who I was refering to).

Then what I would do is go around youtube posting about 20-30 comments. In the comments I would talk about how I suffered from bulimia for xxxx however many years, and found an awesome program/course that changed my entire perspective on bulimia (I NEVER use the words "online" or "product"). And that I've been free from binging for xxx however many months.

The thing is I write the comments so they're very seductive in nature. But I don't drop a link or try to promote ANY products in my comment. I would make women WANT to KNOW how I stopped my binges, but NOT PROVIDE them the solution. I would strategically target bulimia videos with lots of traffic, that have comments ranking on them with less than 10 thumbs ups.

Once I find these videos, I'd post my comment, log into my 10 youtube accounts, take down the current ranking comment, and rank my comment up top in its place.

Women will go to the video, see my comment about how I haven't binged for xxx however many months, the fact I found something SPECIFIC that helped me, but did NOT mention what it was. A lot of women will go check out my videos, find my 1 video, see a link under it, and I do NOT push or sell the link at all. Like "click here!!" or anything like that. I would just say "this was the course I used that saved my life".

I also do a few other things to make it all appear 100% natural (keep in mind that the bulimia niche is just an example, not one of my actual niches). Then there are things that could help my conversions a little bit more (ie. you can say a friend recommended it to you and it worked for them too, then have a dummy friend account who posts on your video "I'm so happy it worked for you too!" (Marketing is all about consistency imo.. + this adds social proof too). Using this technique has worked very well for me. The people who click on the link, but don't want to buy the product on an impulse buy, will often message me to ask me about it. THEN I sell the hell out of it talking about how it changed my life. But I STILL don't push the product on them.

Try using a set up like this and you may find yourself suprised. I think its great to have a website for youtube but social engineering by itself is pretty damn strong. If the copy in your comments does exactly what it needs to, you WILL see great conversions. Just make sure you're doing this with a product that actually sells... otherwise its a waste of time.

    -Red

ps. I just used bulimia as an example. The key is to just find a product that converts, then use this strategy afterwards.

pss. For people who think this is a lot of work consider this. I used this technique on **1** video, and the comment I made was fairly controversial. It also provided a solution w/out providing an actual solution (like I wrote above). That 1 comment I ranked, and over 3 months I recieved 125 messages in my youtube account asking about the product. That doesn't even include the people who went straight to the video and bought it. But there are A LOT of ways to twist this that I'm not even going into..

Awesome for you...Start small and continue to build up.

I love seeing when I have made a sale and even better yet, when my ow product is sold (in the Lacrosse Niche)

somet things I have done which might help some folks that could be scaled accordingly as my product is both the instant digital download as well as the physical book mailed to their house.

I have been contacting stores and booster clubs that could benefit from my product and offering at discounted rates where they could resell as well, which is sort of like a resale rights product to an extent and in the meantime have made some generic sales off the info provided.

I gave a copy of the book to all people I contacted, but showing the increased value provided by the physical copy makes you want to put our a little more money.

I am going to keep doing this as I have started to sell bulk amounts as well, thus depending on the niche you are in, you could also sell bulk amounts to people from around the world who do vending at shows etc.

Anything to improve your multiple streams of income helps.

Just make sure you're doing this with a product that actually sells... otherwise its a waste of time.

That was a sweet post, your could have started your own thread with that type of strategy...I've been noticing fishy looking comments being the top comments...undoubtedly from mturk workers clicking the like button for the comment...

I made ALL my clickbank sales so far from youtube...
YouTube is a very good source of Free traffic as we all know...

One thing people normally forget is that YT is mostly used by teens or youngsters...

Try some gaming offers of CB on YT....

Try joining the FanPage of them games and interact in the comments and direct people to that youtube video..

There are tons of ways to do this but the best one is *Invest more time in making money than actually thinking of WAY to make it - Means #buy traffic# and direct your offers with a landing page of your own to capture leads, so that even though your offer might not convert, your dollar is still worth it if you have capture the lead*

    Yay!
    Way to go mate,

Your first sale is all ways the best in my opinion, and you have hit the nail on the head, Traffic, Traffic, Traffic the more you have the better chances you have on making that sale.

Just remember it can't be any traffic it has to be targeted.
There is no point on getting thousand of views each month to you website from people looking for Boomerangs, when you are promoting, Drop Bear Cages.

Congrats on your success in click bank. I just joined click bank. Not exactly sure how to create a link on my website or how to market to the people who have registered on my site.
