Twitter's Cloaker and Affiliate Links

Can someone help me determine if my affiliate link is actually working or not? Here's what I did.

I went to Clickbank and found a weight loss product with good gravity. I got the affiliate link - you know, the big, long, ugly link.

I registered a domain, nostarvediet.com and made it redirect to my Clickbank hoplink.

I then paid someone $5 on Twitter to tweet the link to 100,000+ subscribers.

Here's what I don't get. First off, here's the tweet they made for me:

Twitter / adnagampaper: WOW I can't believe I lost ...

Hover your mouse over "nostarvediet.com" and you'll see in the status bar it is linked to Twitter's t.co cloaker. Shouldn't it be linking directly to my website, nostarvediet.com? Is this just Twitter's default or did the person who posted my link REMOVE my link entirely and replace it with a Twitter shortener?

I installed Google Analytics on nostarvediet.com but I either did not do it right or, out of 100,000+ subscribers, not a single one clicked on my link, 'cause Google Analytics shows zero visits.

Yeah the hop link works.. Not sure how well that will convert with twitter traffic, you should definitely invest in better traffic sources.

  • Admittedly it was a novice's shot in the dark.
