Made $4800 in the past year from Amazon but want to sell sites

Hey everyone. So as the title says I made about $4800 in the past year from Amazon. However after my sites got hit by penguin in may I have only been making a small amount.

I no longer have time to manage the sites and continue to SEO them as I am in university and my studies come first.

I know with some continued seo work the sites can gain back rankings. I just don't have the time anymore.

I was wondering if I would be able to sell the sites at all even though they were hit by the penguin update? The domains are all aged at least 6 months to well over a year and some have pagerank too.

Anyway I'd just like to hear some feedback. Thanks

Sure. You can sell them on Flippa pretty easily, especially those with pagerank and decent traffic, even if they were hit by Google.

You can sell if you don't have the time to maintain the website and make sure to also find out why it was hit by the google update.

You could try selling them here on WF, may get better price than flippa.

Sorry to hear that the penguin hit you hard...

... but, yes - you can sell the sites.

The rule of thumb is usually that people usually charge what the site has earned in 12 months, to buy.

But unfortunatley the penguin update hit you, so it's going to be a little harder to pick a good price point (one that buyers will think is fair).

You could mention the $4800 in earning, but like you said the site doesn't make that kind of dough anymore, so if you're going to be upfront, it's going to be difficult to sell at the kind of price I think you're expecting.

If you provide accurate stats, people will see the sites were hit and you may only be getting your multiple of 10x or whatever, on the revenue post-penguin - meaning people aren't going to pay a premium on past income for a site that's been hit. It's not costing you much to hold on to them, is it? Might be nice to have a bit of passive income while you're in school, and who knows - they may find a place in the serps again as long as they were built without spammy links, etc.

Might be tough if you're honest about the decline in income due to the Penguin update.

Have you considered outsourcing the SEO as you don't have time to do it yourself? Have you managed to identify the reason(s) why your sites were hit by Penguin?

Damn it, I was just reading an old thread of yours when you first created your review site and started earning money. I was pretty excited until I read this thread

I think if you sell them here on the Warrior forum or Flippa would be your best bet.

If they are making money or have made money and you are upfront about the Panda, Penguin update I think they should sell. No doubt someone else will build them up to make profits again.

You probably won't get much for the sites. To be honest I would just hang on to them. Besides google isn't the only way of getting traffic to a site. I'm sure you could build it back up and start making more money with them.

Depends how badly they were hit. Do some analysis and attempt to remove any bad links you have in your profile. Submit a reconsideration request through webmaster tools and then consider using the disavow tool to remove any links that could not be removed manually. That might dig you out of the hole a bit and enable you to regain rank and then sell.

Yeah man Flippa. If you can document earnings and traffic, panda or no panda, there are plenty of folks who would buy those. I think the rule of thumb on what to sell them for, is like 8x earnings.

I often sell groups of Amazon sites when they get to 12 to 18 months old but if I was in your position I would be very wary about selling them without being upfront about current earnings. The sites are obviously well designed since you were getting sales but you are also getting no traffic post panda. Have you tried anything to get the sites to rank again? If not, I would choose 2 of your sites and do some experiments - add some new reviews, remove most of the Amazon links, add/remove cloaking. Above-all, I would add a couple of generic articles on the products such as features to look for, what problems they solve etc

You shouldn't sell your site instead fight with penguin.
