Youtube targeted marketing the Music Niche

Hi,

I have a client that is a young up and coming singer (similar to this music video below). www dot youtube dot com/watch?v=XIMhi2MPuaM

I am trying to get my client more views, subscribes and likes in youtube and wanted to know your ideas on how to do this. Obviously I would prefer the views and comments to be from real people that like her music and not just people that are being paid to view the videos.

These are the things I came up with but wanted to know the pros and cons of each one. Please give me as much detail as possible as I am quite new to youtube marketing.

1) Use fiverr and have someone with a traffic geyser account promote her videos to the 20-30 other video services (dailymotion, vimeo, etc). Do you think this will help or hurt? Will this look spammy to my client? Is traffic geyser a better option than tubemogule's oneload.com service?

2) Use tubetoolbox.com or tubenitro.com to target market to commentors or viewers of other similar music to my client (i.e. taylor swifts fans). Please give pros and cons if you have used these services.

3) Use fiverr to buy link pyramid and link wheels for each of her music videos? Again what are the pros and cons?

4) Use fiverr to do social bookmarking of each music video.

Any other idea's guys?

All those fiverr SEO gigs you mentioned are SPAMMY and may get you PENALIZED by Google. They have the hallmarks of being SEO SPAM GIGS see: How Not to Get Victimized by Fiverr SEO Gigs ~ Geeky Stuffs

If you really want MAXIMUM RESULTS, do it the old fashioned but proven way - have a product/service that is worth selling. People themselves will promote you. Google and Facebook are wise to the tricks people use in cutting corners.

I've got a quality product of music that people love actually, and have promoted to a degree but it hasn't gone viral, maybe just needs different sales funnel/calls to action/tell a friend buttons/etc

    OK, thanks for the advice.

Besides Fiverr, should I use tools like traffic geyser, tubetoolbox or tubenitro to get more views, likes, comments, subscribes on youtube? According to their developers, there is a way to throttle the messages so it doesnt break Youtube TOS.

Its funny, I know there is SEO bot, i had issue with it as far as using multiple fake social profiles, even though they say that the social media companys like that because it helps their ranking. There's also maybe starting one of those photo blogs that apparently get tons of traffic but do it around the music. What about PPV, doing something creative with that. And, depending on how much he's paying you, you could outsource to Maximize Social Media because they have a proven track record of increasing ROI and bottom line. But I imagine in music it would take a bit longer before your ROI is greater than your investment. However, the wise person, I think the cash ROI should always be higher than cash investment. Time is another story ;-) Please share your thoughts! I'm VERY interested in this and contemplating this myself.

    Couple ideas:

    1. please stay in touch with me, because this is a passion of mine.

    2. plan to follow an artist similar to your musicians style, the SECOND a new song is released by them, be the first to cover it and post on youtube, or, even better, get the CD and anticipate the singles and cover the singles of that particular artist so that when it is released as a single, your video already has views and shares, etc.

    3. I would buy several youtube WSOs/courses online that have best reviews to promote her/his singles as well.

    4. Maybe make a product that half of profit goes to a popular charity that her/his fans would be particularly interested in, and promote it as a "Cause" and an encouragement to go viral.

    5. Beg Barry and Roger to let you buy "Viral Social Control" (if its not open) and also ask Don Wilson to let you buy some of his FB products, in fact his current one, might be the best option. It rocks.

    6. What if the warrior forum made a section for music product launches. It could be a thing here I think. It would be funny. People would be like, "what are these marketers doing making music," but people might support each other for some comic relief and probably also for some good music, and it might make an outlet for the steam that can sometimes get built up when you have occasional struggles.

I have more ideas but let me know what you think!

I have one of the most popular video promo gigs on fiverr where I offer 1000 views and 100 comments/likes/subs/favs etc.

I have sold thousands of these on fiverr. Are they "real" people that are listening to the music video? No.

Do you need these to get ranked so "real" people will watch it because your vid is on top due to stuffing it with fake views/likes/comms?

    Yes.

And you can blah, blah, blah but they are fake and I don't want that blah blah blah but that is how it is done today

Hey, if there's a way to do it without fake traffic, (which I'm sure there is) that's awesome. The question is HOW do you use social platforms like facebook and twitter to rapdily bring large amounts of traffic, I have a couple ideas.

if the video is old and not getting views it will not change. Buying anything/everything you want will not help much if at all, any.

Buying Likes / comments doesn't help unless from the RIGHT sources. Most just used low quality tactics that Youtube moderators probably laugh at.

A lot of today's 'booming' Youtubers are using mobile views to blow their video up the first day to the top of YOutube for a 1 day 'featured' listing but their videos die soon after. And many of those characters who did it are dying right along with that exploited glitch's information being exploited. Youtube is finding ways to stop them and then they look silly when they have videos doing 40k views with 1 million subscribers.

Im thinking of putting out an eBook to solve all these issues and really let people know some major things about Youtube. I've marketed a video too 3 million REAL views on Youtube without mobile views................. people still dont know the technique i used and most will never get it unless i sell the eBook i wrote. was just thinking about this tonight actulaly, just need the right site setup

CBusiness, keep me posted! (no pun intended) I'm much interested in the Tube. It has great potential and gives a guy hope. I think what is funny is that the general way that videos and websites are going is...drumroll....QUALITY! wow, who would have thought that honest to goodness quality and honest views to a video help it in the long run. But there is certainly a science behind this, so please write your book. (I'm actually partners with the forum's biggest WSO launcher, so, keep me posted on your work. If its the right thing, you never know who might support a launch)

Here are some tips to optimize your youtube video to search engines..

1.Create a Title that includes your keyword for your youtube video..

2.Try to add relevant keywords (four to six), and tag your youtube video..

once the user has posted a video in youtube they should do the following this.

        • Use a ping service like pingomatic to ping the url of the video
        • Also add the url in social bookmarking website (this helps google to index the url more firmly)
        • If possible back linking the url (with keyword in the anchor text) of the video page from article directories will be really helpful.

doing the above 3 tasks will help to boost in SERPs very quickly as youtube itself is a authority website.

Singer? Music? That to me means "no money".

I'm just being honest but investors have serious hangups with investing in
bands/singers and its for great reason. MORE singers/artists will fail than
    internet marketers do.

Since I've been in the music niche myself for over a decade, and have delt
with many singers, this is my honest recommendation.

Screw promoting anything. You need "human grabbers" in this niche as Joe
Polish would say. Music is a tight and personal niche. Its all about relationships,
politics, and the people you know. One good relationship is all you need in this
    industry.

Also, she is doing covers which is fun, but unless she can sing better than the
original artist, I wouldn't be promoting her music. If I was her, I would try to
make an original track, and stop doing covers.

She can blend a country song with dance music. Blending genres is a great way
to get noticed. But right now, with her approach, I don't see much happening.
People like Taylor Swift became huge because she was attracted to, and dated
various celebrities. That added a lot of excitement to her fanbase. Lots of gossip
etc etc. It got people talking, it got her recognition.

So seriously. Here is the best advice she will ever hear. Get her on a date with
John Mayer. After the date, have her say something awful about Mr. Mayer. She
will be plastered all over the news, and thousands of record labels will try signing
    her by next week.

I would have to agree with @RedShifted.
It's extremely hard to monetize music right now ...
I used to own a record label but turned it into a music production company.
These days we are able to make decent by placing our music into movies and commercial but actually selling records to the public is extremely hard.

The music industry is just overcrowded ...

Nykotai, it can be discouraging the way the music industry is at the moment for people trying to promote music, but I have heard from several warriors that the music niche is far from dead and VERY possible to make money in. i totally disagree. I know people profiting the low 5 figures annually from selling of singles/ringtones/product & from Youtube. You're not monetizing right.

However, i will say this. Your single has to connect internationally. A 'hot' American party record will not cut it unless you have the 'machine' behind you. You have to CONNECT with your audience to get a sale...... and when i say connnect, it has to compell the listener to feel they have been in your shoes.

We are all here for learning after all!

    Great points CBusiness!

The alternate path that i have taking is publishing but totally open to learning new and effective ways.

    However i would say this:

Low 5 figures/year is easily achievable in publishing.

place 5 songs a year in tv shows (which is more than doable) a

    1k per song placed (upfront payment) x 5 = 5k a year upfront
500 a quarter (very min) on the publishing side -- 2k a year per song x 5 and you are at 10k min earnings on this die

Add that to the 5k upfront and you are at 15k min.

The beauty of it is that you get paid quarterly on the publishing side as long as the show that has your song is being aired...

Thanks for insites nykotai! One fellow is having such success in music with youtube that he is starting a record label. His name is nicholasb on the forum. He does this by setting up 10-15 useful and well done videos (but easily done) per offer (at least). His main method is using the youtube video to lead to a squeeze page which he then uses to follow up with the user to offer his main product. I'm not sure if that is what he does for music (because he does more than just music)

Some good advice in this thread already. Here's my 2 cents worth.

Check out Boyce Avenue and Tyler Ward's channels on You tube. They've both done well by recording good covers of popular songs and putting the videos on their channels. They still have their original stuff, but the covers help them get views and views lead to subscribers, subscribers become fans.

Boyce Avenue also use Twitter well to engage with their fans.

Another option is to post a video as a reply to someone else's video. So if they do a cover of someone else's song, see if they can get it added to the other person's channel as a reply so it's seen by their viewers.

Commenting on other channels is also worthwhile.

Is there an option for her to collaborate with other musicians / singers who are also on YouTube. She could record something with them, place it on their channel and would get some fans as a result.

I don't know what this artist has in terms of a web site, but don't make Youtube the main focal point of their online presence. They could get their account shut down any time and lose all their subscribers etc. Make sure she has a website, link every video back to the site, and create an incentive for fans to subscribe to her email mailing list via her site.

    Hey Josemembreno!

Since this is a singer, some of this might apply be here are some other things you can do:
    1) Be sure to specifically state and have a call to action that says subscribe, share and like my videos and to leave comments
    2) Use the annotation feature and create a subscribe button at the beginning and ending of the videos
    3) Be sure to send a message to all of your subscribers thanking them for subscribing
    4) Respond to every comment that is made on your channel
    5) Be sure to say subscribe, share and like my videos and to leave comments in description of the videos
    6) Create A Website and embed the videos in them and using the checklist below
    7) Reach out to your subscribers via youTube message and offer a free gift, unreleased songs; behind the scenes footage; more about the singer
    8) In your website be sure to build a email list so you can notify subscribers as soon as you create a new video

The key is OPTIMIZATION. Here are a few steps to make sure:

*Conduct Keyword Research and once you find your targeted keywords do the following:

Use targeted keyword in the following:

    1) The name of the video files
    2) Name of the YouTube Channel
    3) The description of the YouTube Channel
    4) The title of the video
    5) The description of the video
    6) Be sure to use it as tags for individual video

That's a down and dirty checklist. Here are some other suggestions:
    1) Create a video series about the targeted keyword and be sure to do all of the items listed about
    2) After you create the video series, be sure to create a playlist with the keyword in the title and description
    3) Find other videos already published about the topic and Create video responses
    4) Distribute your videos to other video players
    5) Create articles and embed the videos inside of them

    Hope this helps!

Great Tips Guys. Lets keep this going with more ideas. Are there other software or services you use to help promote musicians? For ex. I was thinking of using artistdata.com to help promote and syndicate her concert events. Also topspinmedia.com has an interesting service for musicians. Ok, one method is to use youtube keywords tool and get related keywords 100-500 of them and then pay money ($10 per day for 7 days) to get your video rolling and then once it is rolling one wso teacher said it will then become widely seen and begin growing huge. He said this is because people aren't really using this method enough so it cuts out competition if I understand right. lol. what are your thoughts? Truth or false?

The music industry is defiantly overcrowded! I made an album and put all my songs all over the internet, low quality. I had a small price for my record, a 5 track EP for 2.00$ CDN.
I've noticed if you give a lot back to music lovers some will come back and purchase a high quality mp3 or they can enjoy a low quality one wherever they go.

Completely unrelated to any of my internet marketing ventures, I have 5-6K for anyone that knows how to market a musician properly, all white-hat. I'm talking about youtube/facebook/my website...etc.

I'm signed to Universal as an artist and Sony/ATV for publishing...but my album's been shelved for almost a year as they don't know what to do with it (happens when you don't sound like what's already on the radio). My first song was just released on the "Mortal Instruments" soundtrack a couple months ago when it hit theaters... my debut album is done. Just looking for a little viral push...and if people start getting interested online, organically...the label will up our budget.

Anyone who has ideas, I'm interested in speaking with.
