What is the BEST way to add a video to my salespage?

I've had a video I want to add to my salespage under my headline. It is in .mov format. I want to be able to add it with the good quality, and also be able to resize it a bit (smaller size), and also be able to adjust if I want it to play automatically when they open my webpage or leave it up to them to hit play.

Is there an easy way to do this for free? Or do I need a good program for this?

I've seen one program...
Easy Web Video

It looks pretty good because it reduces the size of the file, etc. But it costs $97.

I just wondered what I should do? Idea's or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Dayne--I bought Easy Web Video a while back and it was a great investment. Makes video production a lot simpler. Plus, the screen capture software is much easier to use than Camtasia, IMO. May not be as shiny and glossy, but for what I need (speed and ease of use) it fits the bill.

    Dang, it doesn't look like Easy Web Video works on a Mac.

    Any other ideas?

        Youtube is always a solid idea, if you put it on autoplay on your website it also means you're automatically racking up a view count on YT, meaning it's getting better ranked and more views, which means , (as long as you have your URL in the vide) more free traffic to your site..

        Personally I don't use YT on some of my sites because I don't want the user distracted and clicking to Youtube.com at some point so I use a service called Audioacrobat.

        It's basically all format video to flash conversion on the fly for idiots.

        You upload your file, it converts it on the fly and then gives you some cut and paste code for your website but the difference is you can fully customise it and clicking on it doesn't take you away from your sales copy.

    Yeah, I don't want them to click through on the YT video on my site. I do like the idea of getting more views though. Maybe Vimeo would be better.

    I'm really bummed I couldn't use Easy Web Video because I have a Mac

      My advice is to STOP worrying about click-throughs if you host on YT or Viddler or anywhere else. If your message is targeted enough, the only viewers you will lose are those who will not commit to your process anyhow. Also keep in mind that by hosting it on YT you will get extra traffic directly from related videos clicking through to your video.

      It all works out, just be the most compelling.

    Yep, you are right Simon.

    This is become really frustrating...the Mac issue is why. Otherwise, it would not be a problem.

    I use viddler as well and there is nothing to click on to go
    away from the site except the viddler logo.

    (You can see a sample site from the first link in my signature)

    Also, fellow Warrior provides a quick tool so you can customize
    your YT videos to get rid of the other related videos etc,

      Another cool thing about Viddler is you can brand the player with your own logo and url, so if they click it goes wherever you want them to.

      Not free, but pretty cheap. And made for the Mac.

      Open up your copy of the Quicktime Player. Look under the "Quicktime Player" menu on the extreme left. You'll see a choice to "Upgrade to Quicktime Pro." This used to be $29. Don't know the current price.

      But you already have the Quicktime Pro software in the Quicktime Player. Paying for it gives you a code to unlock it. QT Pro can change the size of the video and other parameters. Also can convert the .mov videos to other formats. Gives you a way to trim out portions of a movie, or join two movies together, etc.

      The autoplay works just like a Flash video embedded player. Just look for the embed code in your source code and set the parameter "Autoplay" to either "true" or "false."

    Hey Dayne,
    You might want to have a look at the JW FLV Media Player available from longtailvideo.com

    This player allows you to play a Youtube video in a non-Youtube player, without most of the Youtube links (although there are some). It takes a little bit of (simple) coding, but once you get the idea it is quite easy.

    Requires you to:

    1. upload original video to Youtube
    2. upload two (or three - I can't remember right at the moment) small files to your site
    3. Put a bit of code on your web page
    4. You also have to create a preview image - the image that shows when the video is not playing. This is a nice feature you can't get from most of the upload sites.

    There's a sample of this player running here:

    Quick Web Video

    I really like this player!

      Do you have a copy of windows? You can get VMWare that will run
      Windows on your Mac to use Easy Web Video at:
      VMware Fusion: Run Windows on Mac, for Mac Desktop Virtualization - VMware

      That is what I use when I have to use Windows publishing software for my video when I am using the different video players out there on Windows platforms.

      So after you download the player from here
      (and be sure to unselect viral if need be)...

      JW FLV Media Player | LongTail Video | Home of the JW Player

      ...You can configure the JW Media Player with Mac by going here.
      It is somewhat straightforward, although you may have to do a little trial and error.

      (It is like Lon Naylor's customization tool for YouTube, which is an awesome tool)

      Setup Wizard | LongTail Video | Home of the JW Player

      So your player code should look something like this that has all the
      parameters, including your folder/file path. Below is a working embedded
      video javascript/html that I integrated for one of my clients with one of
      the JW code set-ups for streaming.

      <embed
      src="http://http.cdnlayer.com/nichevideos/mm/player2.swf"
      width="400"
      height="225"
      bgcolor="undefined"
      allowscriptaccess="always"
      allowfullscreen="true"
      flashvars="author=Mark McClure&description=Ruthless Entrepreneur&file=http://http.cdnlayer.com/nichevideos/mm/MarkMcClureLive.com.flv&bufferlength=5&autostart=t rue&displayclick=fullscreen&icons=false&stretching =exactfit"
      />

      Hope that helps. Keep in mind it's all about response if you're video is a
      meant to get the visitor to take some kind of action. The last thing
      any of us wants is to lose traffic from a free hosting service before the
      viewer has taken this action.

      (This happens all the time, but many do not know how to track or
      measure this so they are unaware it happens)

      Also keep in mind your market and site design as other paid solutions
      may be a better fit for the response of your marketing funnel.
