That used to be an easy question. Now you can't swing a dead cat without hitting another 'how to market on Kindle' guide.

What you want to avoid are guides which promise easy money, multiple titles with no work, etc. The same kind of crapola you want to avoid in any marketing guide.

Beyond that, read the reviews and discount the glowing 'best thing since sliced bread' ones. Most of those are by friends and family members trying to be helpful. In the Kindle marketplace, I also tend to discount the poison pen type reviews, as many of these are people with some kind of agenda or ax to grind.

For fiction, John Locke has a very popular guide.

      This.

Actually, quite a lot of what he covers could apply even to non-fiction. He's a real marketer. I recommend his book: How I Sold 1 Million eBooks in 5 Months!: John...How I Sold 1 Million eBooks in 5 Months!: John...

I definitely would always recommend his book but when I found out he admitted to buying lots of reviews/fake reviews, I am a bit more hesitant about him now. He left that part out of the book. There IS plenty of good advice in there though.

I just found this out too, and was shocked. I really loved his book and used many of his strategies in my own Kindle business.

To OP....I would also recommend Geoff Shaw's Kindling course, Dean Shainan's Underground Kindle Manifesto (I think that's the right title), and Kindle Slingshot has some good information on the SEO aspect of things.

Those are the only 3 I am familiar with here on the forum. Out of the 3, Kindling is the most comprehensive. Just about everything you need to know about publishing on Kindle is in this course. And it's constantly updated too.

If we're going to suggest books that are actually on Amazon here's another popular one with great reviews:

There are some good products on the forum as well. Geoff Shaw's Kindling has a lot of marketing info, my product (with Debbie Drum)21 Day Book Promotion, covers a variety of book promotion techniques, Killing It With Kindle is also good. There are also a number of other guides that are more specific to certain promotional methods, such as press releases or seo for your book listing.

Well, I have bought a lot of em. Most are pure manure. That is putting it nice. My advice is save your money. Look at all the e-books on amazon. Most sell very few copies. A few are a star, but not many. Yeah, it is like winning the lotto in many ways. Hey, it only costs a dollar to dream, but the next day you wake up. Sadly, to a world where you did not win. Frankly, I wish it was so easy. However, that is not our case.

I have read a lot of Kindle publishing/marketing guides. Some Kindle guides are geared to the get-rich crowd and have very shallow and sometimes unethical advice. Fewer guides are geared to serious publishers who look on Kindle as just an additional medium for reaching readers with their writing.

If you're looking on Kindle for these guides, I strongly recommend you read the sample material Amazon provides and trust your intuition on whether the author is in tune with your own goals.

Amy Harrop does good work (above). Paul Coleman does as well. I must say that our mastermind group has daily nuggets of REAL TIME information. You can post your video or book title or book cover and get instant feedback.

I spend alot of time reviewing software to help self publishers and share it with a group. My career has grown from having an online, interactive community of people to network with - so I wanted to start one.

    Good luck!
