Content Plagarized - what do I do now?

I have a standard, pre-written, friendly email and I just have to fill in the blanks and send it to them, asking them to put my website link/resource-box back.

If I can't find their email address on their site, I just sent it to "admin" and "info" and "support" at theirsite.com. It usually reaches them.

Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn't. It doesn't really matter, either way.

If it doesn't work, I can always send a DMCA notice to their host (whom I'll find from a site like who-hosts.com), in which case their site will be taken down for breach of copyright, unless they're hosted on a bulletproof server in Nepal, or something. (I don't often bother to do this, actually, because they're not usually doing me any harm).

These sites are often crappy autoblogs owned by people who have little idea what they're doing, and you can just ignore them anyway. Most of them will eventually disappear on their own.

Don't assume that they're somehow "damaging" you. I know you'd have preferred it if they'd given you a link as well, but it's possible that from their perspective the decision wasn't "do we give this guy his link or not" but "do we steal this article or not" - and the outcome of that decision-making process (if it was one) typically hasn't actually cost you anything, compared with its realistic alternative, which was that they wouldn't take your article at all.

Well, he needs the scissors if he wants to cut and paste. He would be expert with him if he has made lots of collages too.

I wouldn't worry about the little things you can't control.

If it really bugs you, send out a DMCA notice.

I would send the dmca notice. Even if it isnt damaging to you, its still your work. so f*ck him.

i think you should just ignore them. that would just give you stress. you cant handle this kind of thing anyway.

First, decide what, exactly, you wish to accomplish. Do you wish to have the material removed from the infringer's site? Are you willing to allow the material to remain where it is as long as you're given proper attribution? Or do you wish to be paid for the use of the material? You must also determine how far you are willing to go to achieve your goals. If the infringer refuses to accede to your request, how much time and effort are you willing to invest in the battle to come? If the only means of accomplishing your goal is to take the infringer to court, are you honestly prepared to pay the cost of such an action?

You can simply contact him or her first, send a warning and request that your content be removed and that he must cease & desist from what he is doing. If he ignores or refuses to comply, you should take it to the proper authorities.
