Everybody talks about product creation. Here's one simple unique example on themeforest..
This wordpress theme creater has sold more than 20000(+ still counting ) copies of a wordpress theme for $50 a pop..
Do the math $50x20000= $ 1 Million...

    1 million dollars is very impressive.

    Note that from that, you need to deduct operating expenses (hosting, development, support) and affiliate costs, so the actual net figure would be less than $1M, but nonetheless, it would still be a great figure.

      Because it is used as a BASE for other designs. People use it for service sites. It's a B2B theme, that's why it does so well. I'm thinking of using it for my blog selling business.

        There is a lot of value in selling 'non exclusive' rights to products or services.

        Buyers get a bargain because they're purchasing something for a fraction of what they'd pay for a bespoke one off. And that bargain price means that the supplier has the possibility to move huge units.

        I first saw this business model from an Online hip hop producer that I used to work with. He started selling exclusive rights to his beats for a few hundred dollars and then moved over to selling none exclusive rights for only $20...

        He would sell tens of licenses to individual beats. Sometimes even hundreds and his income grew far beyond when he was only selling exclusive rights.

    Haha...the U-Design theme looks ugly? I purchased it from him some time back when the way the slider works was considered unique. Sold my site for over $2k with that theme.

    I also know a top writer (I'm talking $500 minimum an article), who uses that theme to sell her services.

    The product authors on evanto get anywhere from 50% - 70% of every sale, depending on the volume of sales they have. This guy would be getting 70% of every sale.

    People are quietly making millions of dollars all over the web, find something you naturally excel at and pursue it as hard as you can.

      The point is that money is being made using the Internet. Not everyone is a theme designer or programmer, etc. But if you find the right niche and the right problem to solve, then stick to it, you can make huge profits.

      There are, of course, other pieces to the puzzle. If we fail to recognize that the process has been over-simplified when we talk about the above theme, we will be disappointed if we try and replicate its success and fail. So it's important to applaud the creator's success (as giving us hope) while realizing it is a 'bit' more to it than simply creating another WP theme.

      The focus of the theme, like its name (UDESIGN), is to let you design your own unique website, with ease. Basically it has a ton of options to make your website unique from everybody else's of those who bought the same theme, unlike other themes where you could only change color schemes. In this theme you can also change the overall layout with ease.

      I don't know why people wouldn't pay $50 for it. Perhaps they don't see the usability of it. But in my opinion, the theme is very well constructed and slick. I have bought it and used it on my sites and love it!

    Good for the seller. I don't like the theme and wouldn't pay anything for it, but that's true for a lot of themes. Most of them are near copies of each other. Time to come up with something new.

      The same can be said for most success stories like this one. More often than not the product is nothing special and not necessarily the best product out there -- just the right product at the right time. There is a lot to be said for just taking action because it's not always the best product that makes the most money. But a product idea sitting in your head can never sell anything!

      Did you even bother to read my post just 2 posts above yours or at least do some research on the theme? The theme is called udesign for a reason. It allows you to highly customize the theme to our liking. It allows you to make unique sites which are different from others using it as well.

    The theme is a framework and allows for a lot of customization, hence the name. Its a quality system as you could definitely get a graphic designer to do something unique using your framework.

    It's not really one million, because TF takes commission (fo under 27k in earnings, it's 50%, and when you get higher earnings, the commission drops, and the least they take is 25%, if i'm not mistaken).

    Also, as someone pointed out - take the costs of making the theme (i would say at least a month), and also, hosting the demo (because demos are not hosted on TF), and also time to spend on support.

    I actually bought a theme from there and used it on my old site. Very good themes, and they were always helpful when I had a question. They also offer coding services if you want something "special" done to your theme as well, but of course it will cost you.
