Buying first solo ads-promote free offer or paid?

I see a lot of people saying you should only promote free offers since once you get people on your list you can sell them later.

What about a low price offer and if they don't buy, a exit popup to optin?

That way you might get the best of both. Money to help pay for the add, plus optins.

I know only testing will show which is best, but works best for you?

I don't know, paying for sign-ups always seemed crazy to me, as there are so many ways to get them for free.

That sounds like a good plan. If you have a good product that isn't too expensive people might be inclined to buy it.

It may be best to set up a squeeze page with a free offer. the confirmation page and/or the thank you pages from the autoresponder can have your paid offers.

That could work. that way you aren't scaring them away with an paid offer at first but you are still given them a chance to buy after they optin. Also that would probably work with ezines that only let you promote paid offers , although you would need to ask.

Yes, but you have it backwards. The opt in first, then the low priced product.

I have tested out sending to my squeeze page, but the problem with this is that a lot of solo ad providers ONLY send to free offers. Why? Because their list is full of freebie seekers, and they are not buyers.

Yes, you get sign-ups from these solo ads but they did not convert to sales very well.

In the future, I personally would only want to purchase a solo ad where my ad would only be sent to a buyers list or a list that is mixed (buyers/freebie seekers) at the very least.

I'm also going to test just sending traffic straight to a $7 offer.

Also, stay far away from prosoloads.com. They send you un-targeted pop under traffic. They do NOT offer solo ads as we all know them to be.

Instead of a pop-up, you can probably have an exit redirect. This should be in addition to another paid offer right on the page where the free gift is. That way, you're maximizing your potential of converting them into a buyer without harassing them with popups.

your front end offer should always be free with solo ads, in fact I don't think there is a solo ad provider that accepts paid offers, after they opt in send them to an OTO, and at the bottom you can say something like NO THANKS TAKE ME TO MY FREE DOWNLOADS, then on the download page you mention your OTO again.

yeah.. i am getting solo too.. I provide a free offer but after they are done with the free offer, they see the OTO. if they like it, some of them actually buys... that depends on the quality of the clicks delivered and how many actually ended up at your OTO page..

    Cheers~

make sure you are tracking clicks to your OTO, I use a service called clicktale to grab the screen of every 10 visitors, and if people are not taking me up on my offer I know how I can tweak my copy.

you can get a 100 clicks or something like that for free, that's enough to test.

If you strictly want an active buyers list then don't give any freebies for it. If you want potential leads then interested people in that niche may be tempted further with a freebie or two occasionally.

It kid of depends on what you are selling over time. If you have a list of products you can offer people over the course of a long term relationship, you are probably better off with offering something for free to start off with.

If what you really want is cash in hand right now, try a combo. Send people to your free offer and in the couple of messages that follow, offer an upgrade to the original product or maybe something that is very low cost.

Then make sure your autoresponders are set up to automatically move them from your interest list to the buyer's list.

When it comes to solo ads, 99% of the time you will not be allowed to send the traffic to a paid offer, it has to be a free offer

You can of course include a OTO etc on the next page but i would not even think about setting up an ad using only a paid offer because you will find it extremely difficult to get a solo seller to send you traffic direct to your sales page

Set up a basic squeeze page with an unbeatable offer; then get as many opt-ins as possible through the use of your solo ad marketing.

I would prefer leads up front, because you can continue to make sales from them time and time again,
