Is my site that bad or does paid traffic really suck?

So recently I launched my first product, and in an attempt to test my conversion rate I bought about 2k visitors for $5. Now out of those 2k I didn't get a single sale, not even a one clikc through to the checkout screen.

Is this normal, or does my site seriously suck? Does anyone have any experience with paid traffic like this, and assuming it is traffic and not my site what are some ways I buy some quick traffic to get a bettter representation of my conversion rate?

Where did you get the visitors from? Traffic has to be targeted for the offer or it won't convert.

Don't wast your TIME buying Traffic, as stated above it Must be Targeted Traffic..... If Your Site Sells Mustang Engines.... and You get 2,000 stay-at-home moms to come to your site... don't be surprised that no one buys. Don't Trust Companies to send You Targeted Traffic... they get Paid Just For Sending it. And if they claim to send targeted Traffic and have no Proof.... Don't Bite.

As soon as you said 2k visitors for $5 the red flag started waving.

Where did you buy this traffic? All paid traffic is not created equal.

I agree, $5 is very cheap for 2k visitors...

Most sources of 'raw traffic' are shady operators selling you confused people 'exiting' other websites, toolbar traffic and the like. They'll bounce off your page hoping to find their way back home like Dorothy in Wizard of Oz. Lost visitors don't buy

I found the traffic company here on this forum. They claim to offer targeted traffic, but i'm guessing the odds of that being true are pretty low.

      Let's put this in perspective.

If you are paying for traffic from a CPC basis at a reputable traffic source, .10cents to .25 is pretty average CPC (cost per click).

2000 clicks from TARGETED visitors would be $500 if you paid .25cents per click.

That's 100 times more than what you paid.

$500 may seem like a lot, but it's irrelevant if you are making $1000, $2000 etc. from that $500 investment.

Once you wrap your head around this concept, you can understand why the heavy hitters will usually say,
"I won't touch a traffic source unless I can SPEND at least 1k a day."

Some will say much more, but you get the point.

Everyone has said it really... Expecting good results from $5 traffic is like expecting the best head ever from a hooker..... It just doesn't happen.

Don't get it twisted though; some traffic is worth buying... Like if you pay for a solo ad with a reputable seller.... THOUGH you may find it challenging finding the better sellers out there, most people kept the, guarded close to their chest

Forget trying to buy your way to success with pointless cheap traffic sources. You should regularly be doing article and blog submissions, forum signature links, reciprocal links with similar niches, social media marketing, YouTube videos, and a whole lot more. These are methods to attract a steady long term stream of visitors to your site, and not a hopeful quick fix which will leave you both disappointed and out of pocket.

There are plenty of good threads on how and where to get sources of free traffic on WF. Just use the search facility at the top of the page.

Oh yes, I'm currently doing a lot of this to drive actual visitors to my site. I wasn't planning to rely on paid traffic to support myself, I was just using it to try and get an idea of my potentail conversion rate so I would know how much tweaking I had to do to my sales page.

But you're obviously not getting enough visitors to test your conversion rate. And you won't get it by purchasing cheap untargeted traffic, because they won't click through to your checkout.

        PeteJ,

I Suggest that You Put aside $50-$100 and create an Adwords account and Use that to See where Your sales page stands with Traffic and How Well it Converts.

I was thinking the same thing. I believe I have one of those $100 adwords coupons somewhere. At least this way I'll be better able to target the visitors I want.

            Don't do that just yet.

Read through Google's guidelines for advertising, otherwise you'll have your account banned before your campaign even starts.

Big G doesn't like directing it's visitors to single-page sales letters.

And as far as your design goes, I would really start by working on those headlines. The drop shadows are what bothers me the most about your headlines. It's just too far away, and makes it hard to read. I'd go with a 1px distance for the drop shadow myself.

The fonts/coloring could use some work as well.

And lastly, spelling mistakes. MS Word, Open Office, and pretty much any text editor out there nowadays has spell check build in. There's not reason to have spelling mistakes on your sales letter.

Not all paid traffic sucks. Your "visitors" weren't targeted at all. They were probably bots. I did that a long time ago. I built a page where 1 out of 5 people subscribed. I got so excited, I bout a few thousand visitors for a few bucks, and nobody subscribed. That was years ago when I tried Searchfeed and 7Search - nothing but junk traffic. I would call the "help desk", and the only suggestions they would give me was to "load your account with more funds" and try a new ad. Boy was I suckered. Know where your traffic is coming from, and make sure there are real people behind that traffic. More importantly, understand their intentions when they click on your ad and visit your site.

There's paid traffic and then there's paid traffic.

PPC AdWords is "paid traffic", but it's targeted. Traffic from a solo ad to a targeted list can be "paid traffic", but it's targeted. 2000 clicks for $5 from Fiverr or DP isn't targeted, and often isn't humans, and even when it is, it's often people from countries where you wouldn't want to advertise and where most people have neither a credit-card nor a PayPal account anyway.

Eewww, now you're asking. Please excuse the comment that I think it's absolutely awful, myself, Pete. Sorry. I honestly don't think you'd get a single sale at all from 2,000 genuine, human, targeted clicks, with that page. The layout is appalling and you haven't even checked your spelling. If you're planning to send traffic to it, at least get the lettering aligned neatly, make it easy to read, and check the grammar and spelling! Sorry, but you did ask!

The thousands of visitors that you buy for 1$, 5$ from Fiverr, eBay, etc, are garbage! They're either bots or a Popup traffic! That means the visitors never wanted to visit your site, they were forced to visit it by popping up a separate window with your site. That's why you actually can see people visiting your site, but never interact with it. It's like a spam. In other words, you've wasted 5 bucks.

You must target the traffic if you want conversion or sale. You can also consider redoing your page to get real traffic to visit your site instead of having to pay for it. $5 for 2k traffic volume sounds too good to be true.

I think you have been fooled by those networks.
2K visitors and nada happened? That's crazy even if your lander or sales page are really bad.
Go to wellknown networks (not talking about Adwords because it sucks), and put more than 5 bucks there. If you fail there, then review your landing and/or sales page.

Due to all respect, I am quite surprised that with over 105 posts you ought to know by now that paid traffic providers that sell traffic for $$$ usually over promise and under deliver, majority of them are scams, not to mention it costs only $5 for 2000 visitors, it is very CLEARLY that the traffic is some sort of spam. Use your google analytics and I would not be surprised that your bounce rate is over 85% if not higher. Visitors may spend less than 25 sec if not sooner. The problem you are facing is most likely has nothing to do with your site. What you need to focus on is to bring TARGETED TRAFFIC not bulk traffic for $5. I rather have 50 highly targeted customers who are actively searching related product and services compare to having 5000 spam traffic visit my site.

Whatever you are trying to sell, think of it as from your customer's perspective, you want people to active searching for your product and services. Start building a list of target keywords you think your customers might be searching when looking for your product and start building quality backlinks and get your website or money site start ranking competitively in the search engine. Remember if you offer a legitimate product and service, quality link building will pay off in a long run. You will eventually receive steady and targeted traffic which will almost guarantee conversions. Hope this helps. Adam.

What kind of Paid Traffic did you use? What is the prove that they can send you a targeted traffic. I think you should ask yourself first, what is my targeted traffic? What age? how much income? what gender? etc.
And then you can try PPC, Fiverr gig, and many other advertisement, with trial and error method. One time failure is nothing.
