I want to sell my website. Please help! ($800/month rev.)

After the recent Google's algorithm update, my website's main keyword just went from page 1 to page 4. This website has earned quite a bit of money, but I think it's best I move on and sell the website on Flippa for a nice sum. However, I have never sold a website before and would need some guidance.

My website's domain name is registered with gdaddy, and it is hosted with Hostnine. How do I transfer all these assets to the buyer?

Could you also give me an approximate price for my website? Here is the info for the month of September:

- Unique visitors: 10 200
- Adsense earnings: $160
- Clickbank earnings: $640
- Total earnings: $800

So what do you guys think? Any pointers?

Thank you for your time.

You can try namepros also. Regarding transfering all the assets to the buyer, you can transfer the epp key to the buyer to get the domains working from his hosting account. To transfer the data you can contact your host to transfer the data. I hope this answers your questions.

It's going to be hard to sell if the earnings haven't been maintained. I sold an adsense site on flippa for over 3K and in the transition period, I got hit by the EMD update and went from No 1 to page 2 and the sale fell through. Timing sucked big time. Now I''m changing the onsite to see if I can recover and try and sell again.

What is the transition period, and how long is it?

It's really up to you. I gave the buyer a 5 day inspection/transition period and in the middle of it, I got hit

It's pretty amazing to see what people think is ok and ethical to do.

Sad, but I bet Flippa is going to be inundated with these kind of sites and people for the next while.

Flippa will be awash with them and probably already has been since the first round of Panda through the latest EMD changes. That's why everyone should take great care and investigate before buying a site on Flippa or anywhere else for that matter.

Even more sad to see how a lot here seems to advice those wanting to do other people in instead of just saying it as it is. If you now go and sell a site like that and using those earnings you only selling because it is no longer of any value and you trying to get some sucker to buy it from you.

Isn't that called being dishonest or robbing somebody or am on the wrong page?

Here's a guide on how to transfer it once you sell.
    http://domainingdiva.com/transfer.pdf

As for price, don't know how long you have had steady earnings. When you list it, be detailed in your sales letter. List all of the assets and figures for the site, including referrals for the traffic so people can see where the traffic is coming from.

Flippa's new Adsense income verification rounds out the last 3 months Adsense income, so if you have less than that, it probably won't look very good to buyers.

A couple of years ago I was seriously considering the sale of my web business and did quite a bit of research at the time. I ultimately did not sell but did save links to what I considered the best resources - I checked all of the links below and they are all still active and I have no affiliation with any of them except to say again that these were the only sites of many that I chose to save for possible future use -

The first three are either brokers or places you can advertise your site but each has some information about selling a site as well as sites that are up for sale now that you might be able to use for comparison -

WebsiteBroker - Websites For Sale. Buy and sell websites and domain names!

    http://www.buysellwebsite.com

Quiet Light Brokerage - Professional Website Brokers - Websites for Sale

This link is appears to be a group of site buyers who are looking to buy websites -

Sell your website at The Website Buyers

Last, the following link is to an article on determining your website's value which I saved because it was very helpful -

Selling a Website: How to Determine a Web Site's Value

    Hope the above helps.

    1. 800 revenue isn't the same as profit.

    2. If it isn't passive then it isn't worth much.

    3. If it isn't all SERPS then it isn't worth as much.

    4. If it isn't making money right now then your history doesn't count.

    5. If you are unable to revive it then its value drops further.

    6. If it has potential then don't sell it.

    7. If it doesn't have potential then you are selling the domain with some content and backlinks plus your managing time. The worth will be less than the sum of that.

You've got a lot of chutzpah if you're trying to sell it now. Selling a bupkes site! Obviously it is not returning anywhere near as much as before the drop, so you would have to state this. If you plan to deceive a brokh tsu dayn lebn!

    Try DNforums too..

But for fully functional CB products and sites you should go with flippa in my opinion

I don't know much about this stuff, but IMO you would need to be upfront about the change in rankings that this site has recently received, unless you want to hold onto it for another 3-4 months and see if that $800 a month revenue holds. Otherwise you risk ripping someone off.

So what's it earning now? You're not trying to sell a non earning site with claims of 800 a month I hope....
