Why am I not showing up in google results but my affiliates are?

Very strange. For some reason I can't get my listing on the first few pages of google but my affiliate is?

I have an issue with an affiliate of mine getting his website (which then redirects to mine)
on the first result on google when you type in outstanding poker and other keywords I use.
My listing is no where to be found however I have been posting links etc and doing a lot of SEO for it.
I am not sure why his listing comes up as it forwards to mine.
His URL forwards to his affiliate ID http://www.outstandingpoker.com/?hop=zimzalabim
but his listing on google comes up as http://www.outstandingpoker.co.uk/

He is getting affiliate comissions because of this.
Any reason why I can't get top listing on google?

In Yahoo when i type in outstanding poker i get my listing coming up.
In MSN my listing comes up.

How old is your site?Maybe not older than 6 months so you are facing the google sandbox problem.

      or...

      Did you buy links?

        Hi,

I looked at both of your backlinks in yahoo.

Far as I can tell you have like 1 pagerand 2 link, a couple pagerank 1 links, and a bunch of zero page rank links.

You competitor seems to have more page rank 2 and 1 links.

Are you making sure you are using good anchor text for the keywords you want to rank for? I didn't check your guys sites for anchor text in your links but sounds like you where but checking.

What I would recommend is look for some blogs, forums, and directories that have a higher page rank like 2 or 3 ish.

Also I would write a bunch of articles from the article directories as they are looked at as higher quality links.

I think he is just out linking you. Higher page ranks links should do the job.

Hope that helps some I'm sure others could provide some more suggestions.

        Terry

Still can't figure out why I can't get my listing on top for my own unique keyword which is the title of my site.

Does your page come up when you type your url in the google search box? If it does then you are not sandboxed.

I've seen it happen alot where a redirect url like his will get indexed even though he doesn't even have a page. I believe google is looking at your page for on page optimization of his url.

Just keep getting high page rank and quality backlinks you will show up sooner or later.

Also I noticed, on your homepage, alot of the links are not set to nofollow and are passing page rank to other pages on your site.

You may want to change your links to nofollow on the links leading to pages that don't need page rank like your testamonial pages and signup pages links. That way you will keep most of your juice on your homepage.

            Thanks for the info.
If you type in www.outstandingpoker.com my listing comes up.
Just not sure why it doesnt come up for outstanding poker.
I guess i will keep plugging away at SEO stuff. however I posted articles
and posted links to directories etc.

So what's the problem? Are you saying that you're too stingy to pay out commission to this affiliate of yours? You should have thought about that BEFORE you started an affiliate program really.

Why are you trying to compete with your own affiliates for a spot on google when your affilates are doing a great job at it themselves? Consider the commission you pay out as money well spent since that means you get to KEEP the rest without having to worry about SEO etc yourself.

Personally I get put off by affiliate program owners who compete with their own affiliates for keywords etc. It puts me off because not only do I, as an affiliate, have to worry about other affiliates but also the product owner hiking up PPC prices and competing for keywords on SEs. You as a product owner should be doing everything you can to HELP your affiliates rather than compete with them. When you get into the ring with them and fight, guess what? They step out and go promote someone elses products and YOU end up losing.

Bottom line, don't compete with your own affiliates and HELP them do a better job. I'd personally bump up the commission paid to this one affiliate you're complaining about since he's doing a GREAT job for you!

Think about it. Would YOU like it if GOOGLE themselves fought for the same keywords you're fighting for?

              Just my $0.02

              Okay this one is strange.

I see that their backlinks are not even keyword targeted.

I looked at your backlinks and noticed that you have more keyword targeted backlinks than they do....so thats not it either.

Google may POSSIBLY be giving more weight to the UK extension .

Your site is 2 years & 7 months old so theres no reason why you should be
              in the aforementioned Sandbox.

It doesn't look like you've been banned from Googles Index, so no problem there either.

              This ones tricky.

I'd suggest doing a link building campaign & focusing specifically on targeting the keywords "Outstanding Poker". You already have a number of backlinks to your actual website address which is good also.

Try this and keep us posted.

It amazes me how far people will go to make sure their own affiliates DON'T succeed.... and you wonder why an affiliate program isn't doing well...

Yeah, Pojax... Pretend you hired this affiliate to be your SEO Expert and he works on commission only. (IE, when he gets your site listed high in search results and gets you traffic)

Essentially, that's what he is. Pay him for his work and be glad he's helping get top spot.

Hey, thanks for all your input. I have no problem with someone trying to get comissions.
And I am glad to his his domain up. However, my whole point of posting this is trying to figure out why my domain doesn't show up while his does. his is a simple redirect to his hoplink. I have done tons of SEO and got my link out there and am just wondering how he got #1 spot while I am no where to be found under the keyword "outstanding poker".
