Disclaimers/Privacy Policies, etc.

Hey guys,

A while back I purchased a bunch of resale rights products, some of which have suprisingly good content.

I was going through a few of them and noticed that some of them come with a pre-made sales page, so I'm going to test a few of them out as it won't take much time to get them up and running.

What I'm unsure about is, some of these don't come with privacy policy/disclaimer pages aswell and I'm wondering what I need to do in order to protect myself.

If there is a disclaimer in the actual product (e-book) do I need a disclaimer/privacy policy on my the sales page? Or if there is already a disclaimer/privacy policy in the e-book do I need one on the sales page?

I've never sold products where I'm considered the merchant before so I really have no idea what to do in regards to these above topics..

I would like to do everything above board and am not interested in breaking any laws, lol.

Any advice you guys can offer me will be greatly appreciated.

    Hey Pat,
    I think to be on the safe side you should at least have a privacy policy. There's a good generator at dmaresponsibility.org/PPG/
    There's also a pretty good disclaimer template at businesslink.gov.uk/bdotg/action/detail?type=RESOURCES&itemId=1076142107, except it's British and I don't know if you're based in the US.

      Thanks for those links, Jessica. I'm based in Australia.

      Mary, I have a whole bunch of different products in a range of different niches.

      If I was to have both a privacy policy and a disclaimer (whether it be a monetary disclaimer, or weightloss, etc) adequate to begin selling?

        Yes it's a good idea to have both a privacy and a disclaimer page

          Ok I'll explain it a bit better. For example, lets say I was selling an ebook on improving your soccer skills.

          I want to know what measures I need to take to ensure that I can't get into any trouble by someone coming and saying, "Oh I hurt my leg doing your training drills I'm going to sue you".

          Obviously you can twist this situation into any product you sell, whether it be a monetary disclaimer or one for a health product like mentioned above.

          So, if I use the above links to set up a disclaimer page and a privacy policy page, then I will have done all that is necessary to protect myself?

      One product I am selling is an acne product. Do you think this disclaimer would suffice?

      I will also generate a privacy policy as per instructions from an earlier post in this thread.
