Is youtube the best way to put videos on website?

What do you guys use?
My website has HD images and looks very professional.
I made a video and uploaded through my youtube channel but it looks cheap. I would go for vimeo, but I have read in the terms and conditions that you can't use it for commercial purposes.

Any other options?
-Joe

Amazon S3 is used by a lot of marketers, and it's free up to a certain point. You can use Vimeo if you choose the paid version which allows for commercial use.

      Hi,

I really prefer having control over the experience. Amazon S3 will cost you very little and gives you total control. IMHO this is highly preferable.

Now I have friends who use both the Vimeo and Youtube methods. So there is no right or wrong answer.

I just like control over the experience.

HOW you do it is far less important than picking ANY method and using it.

      Best wishes,

      Marlon

If you don't want to screw around with Amazon S3, I use Vzaar for all videos where I want my own branding and/or to prevent non-paying clients from viewing 'em.

I find their interface extremely easy to use and their pricing is very affordable.

No, I'm not an affiliate and I don't work for them! Just happy with their service, that's all.

In my opinion, youtube won't give you the best look but the benefit could be extra traffic provided you include your site's link in the description.

I agree with djax3000, Youtube won't be the best option out there but it sure is popular and you can benefit from the extra traffic!

Amazon S3 is cheap but then you have to pay for JW player and I have no intention and budget to afford that.

Facebook is becoming popular to upload videos, and maybe you can consider it too.

I'm currently using Vimeo Pro (paid version). I'm really happy with it so far.

Alternatively, you can also go for:

    1) Amazon S3 - The cost add up really quickly if you have lots of views.

    2) LeadPlayer --> Support youtube videos. Skin looks professional and able to capture email address. Highly recommended.

There has been a lot of excellent advice on your question so far. I think it really depends on your objective. Amazon S3 is excellent if you are expecting a large amount of traffic and you want to make sure your video will still play when it's slammed with viewers.

YouTube has it's advantages in that if you know how to market on YouTube you can get some really good traffic from it. As was mentioned earlier there are ways to make it look good. Don't discount the other video sites like vimeo as well.

If your site uses WordPress there are a slew of great plugins that will help you to make the videos look great with little technical knowledge. There are even ones that help with S3.

As I said it just depends on your objective. And the platform of your site may determine the difficulty of getting your desired results.

I have been playing around with S3 for days and I haven't been able to make it work. At the moment I am using you tube that I embed in a way that looks a bit more professional.

I can't afford to pay Vimeo, or JWplayer. I tried to use the video.js plugin with wordpress (that is free) but it doesn't seem to work. If anyone knows how to make it work that would be really nice.

Have you looked at TechSmith | Screencast.com, online video sharing, Home

I prefer Screencast over Youtube because of this:

What you upload is exactly what your viewers see. Content hosted on Screencast.com isn’t compressed or re-encoded into a "one-size-fits-all" format.
I recently purchased Mark Hess' plugin here:

Haven't used it yet, so I can't comment, but will be working on it later today.

I remember videos can be uploaded to hosting account, then for wordpress site, just use jw player plugin to play the video right away. No need to use Amazon s3 this way right?

I've seen Vimeo a lot. Seems to be reliable, and pretty safe in my opinion. Or Amazon S3
