Just another lost mind...

Hi everyone,

And thanks for reading my post.

I'm gonna help you save your time by explaining right away what this post is about: I'm kinda lost in this world of internet marketing, and even though I tried several things, nothing worked yet and I'm kinda going into a deep depression, seeing that none of my efforts have paid me back...

I spoke to countless of persons, successful persons, but it always seem that they "hide" what they do, or at least they are never too specific, the golden details always seem to be kept under their wings, making them fly and letting you flap yours without never ever get off from the ground.

I am 20 years old and it's been 4 months that I'm in this market. Being really determined to make this journey work, I learnt a lot, sometimes driving all my expectations to courses or products that promises but never deliver.
I know this is pretty common, yet I don't find a way out of this, instead of having someone I trust, someone successful, who want me to succeed like anybody want other human beings to be happy...

I just want to talk to people, and maybe, if I'm very lucky, find someone who will be touched by a part of me, and help me be happy as well...
But I'm not too confident in this, everyone seem to think that happiness is divided when shared, although it's quite the contrary.

Thanks a lot my friends,
And I wish you a lot of luck and a lot of success in your online career.
A lot of you make newbies like me dream of better days, and that alone is a wonderful feeling.

Have a good night.

PS: I apologize for my poor english, I'm french.

Don't let it get you down young sir, many of the people you identify as successful took years to get going, you've only been in this for 4 months, and you're so young, time's on your side bud

What have you tried so far?

Unfortunately, you're looking for the "secret" ... the blueprint to making money online and there isn't really one. The successful people make their own blueprint. You won't find the path in the WSO forum in a "method" being sold in spite of what the headlines say.

You need to read the forum, decide on the type of online business you want to start, learn everything possible about that and then get going and get it launched. Buy only the info and tools you need to launch the business you've decided on.

The sooner you realize that there is no secret method or blueprint, and stop spending money on them, the sooner you'll get down to the work of learning what you need to do to start an online business. It's all on you.

      Great Words,

      This is completely true,

My advice is read and leanr and then try to find your way on how you can make your own fortune on the web.
I started my IM journey 28 months ago and I count myself very successful. The reason behind is reading and learning and making my way to achieve what I wanted.

      Wishing you good luck.

I hired someone on craiglist who has setup a sales page and he did some article writing on a blog, he also let me invest in webwire alot to spin some articles but we only had 2 sales in almost 8 months now.

I also tried a few training courses like anthony morison and listbuilding.

Im really stucked and looking forward to find a new direction to earn 100 $ - 500 $ a month to get started.

I tried several MMO niches, and yes I'm a player. I know a lot about World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2 (the 2 niches I tried).

I took them down. Spent a lot of money and time trying to build them and advertise them, and it didn't work so I got upset and shut the whole thing off.

Nope, that wouldn't be a good idea - what you bought doesn't work, if it did you would have got results. What you bought was fabricated solutions, this industry is loaded with them

Do you know if other people are making money selling guides to these games? If they are then your problem was probably to do with conversion. Did you make any sales at all? How much traffic did you send to each sales page?

Don't feel bad if you didn't, I'm just asking so we can establish what the problem was

Yes, other people make a living out if it. the gravity of Clickbank products about those is pretty high.

Split testing is trying to create different ads right ? If so, yes I did.

Different ads and different website / copy.

Sounds like you usually try once and if it fails you give up. That's not how your going to be successful. Split test until your profitable. What other option do you have? There is no magic button system that's going to make you easy money. Either get a mentor or start reading and learning more.

I use anything that makes me money. There is no right or wrong traffic source to use. If you cater to your target audience, any traffic source can work. You're asking the wrong questions. Get a mentor or do more research into a certain area and stick with it.

from what you have told us I get the impression that in 4 months you've been jumping from one method to another, because you didn't get any results - stop doing that. the results doesn't just come over night. you say you are a gamer and you know something about wow and gw2 so ask yourself what problems did you encounter when playing? what did you struggle with? what sort of info or solution were you seeking? I bet that the problems you had are the problems of many gamers so give them what they need, provide them a walkthrough, tips how to build their characters, how to avoid certain scenarios..you get my point.

so this is the core of your business, realizing what people need and offering them services/products. next step is to find those people and offer them your service/product, this is where internet marketing starts. how will you approach them? if you are offering visual walkthrougs, youtube is the way, if you want to give them tips, an ebook or blog will serve..what I would do is build a site with everything previously mentioned, a site with youtube videos, tips, cheats, guides, you name it. don't forget social networks, facebook fanpage, twitter..

so once again, stop jumping from one method to another, decide what service or product can you offer, do a research if there is any demand for it and how big the competition is, how are they promoting their services and choose your own way. you may not find a perfect method right away, but only after you thoroughly tested it move to another. this is a business like any other and success doesn't come right away, so be patient. and focus.

this is not very detailed post but I hope it will give you some insights and ideas how to start . and if anybody disagrees with me feel free to correct me .

I lost count of my failures. But with every failure I got closer to success....and success just isn't about $$$ its about finding your pathway...

I know that sounds like a cliche, but my point is to not give up on yourself.

Give up on IM if that is your decision.

But never give up on yourself. Sounds like you have tried a few things, but really, 4 months isn't a long time in the grand scheme of things.

Stop buying 'things' is my advice. I'd suggest you start thinking about your future and whether or not you really want to pursue IM or working online.

If the answer ends up being yes, start researching some of the IM coaches online.

Beware though many are operating from a chronic conflict of interest model where they teach you and sell you on every opportunity.

Take your time. Read the forums. Get a good feeel for the right person. You'll find them.

Goodluck in whatever you do or decide!

Right Manoko, I'm gonna have to go now, but from what I gather the main problem you probably faced was one of conversions. I know how frustrating this stuff can be and you feel like just walking away from it, but you really can't walk away from a project unless you can be sure it's a loser... and the one you've described is probably a winner.

Just look at what your successful competitors are doing at every stage (front end sales letter, funnel, follow up, backend) and you'll get a good idea of how to convert and be profitable. Don't blatantly copy them, but study them to get an idea of what works.

That's the short answer, I hope that gives you an idea of what you need to do. If you need any more help feel free to stay in touch via my alirangwala.net mailing list.

I'm sad to see you got depressed after just 4 months. Just relax, listen to your favorite music, and after that go back and pick your business, start to implement it.
What you should to understand - there are no hidden secrets in internet business (there are, though, but very special, and working only for those who developed them, they are individual). No one business model can be blind-implemented from those courses and ebooks. Don't think there can be a ready-made business model that completely suits you. One concrete business plan will work for its creator, but won't work for anyone else, because all people are different.
Understand that those courses are not business plans, just ideas.
The most common mistake all newbies are doing - they are searching complete schemes.
As contrary, the right attitude is:
    1) invent or find an idea of product or service;
    2) check the demand;
    3) check the competition;
    4) build your business on a paper first, describe all the processes - what you are selling, how you are selling, where to find buyers, how to return items, and so on...
    5) after you see that your business is working on the paper, start implement it in reality.

So, you just should be creative. After implementing and testing your business machine, you'll find that you've already invented your own business secrets. Just write them down. And sell to others

Be aware that the hardest part is to find buyers. If you'll find buyers - you'll find a business.

    This is my own experience.

After all, if you feel hard about develop your own business, write me in PM, I have an offer for you.

First of all your English is not poor. It's excellent. Main thing is that you are very new in this field. As you said that you have been engaging in this vast world for only 4 month. So don't be frustrated. This is just beginning. When i was in your stage i did not find anybody to help me out. Believe me it is true. I really work very hard at that time.

There are so many ways to earn money in this field. Just start your journey with one single skill you have most instead of learning everything. Impose your all talent gradually. Success would certainly come one day.

Manoko, Get a mentor. There are plenty on here offerint this service. Give some thought to who/what area. Look for plenty of positivefeedback about them first. The service is likely to cost you a bit; but if its a good service it will be money well invested. You'll find that a changed mindset together with a focused approach and guidance will make all the difference.

I used Kenster. Fabulous service. Well worth the investment.

Time for my favorite all-time quote, I think:

“I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.”
    ― Thomas A. Edison

Manoko, as other people are telling you, don't jump from one strategy to another. You aren't doing yourself any good that way. There will be days when you hate the thought of online marketing, and there will be days that you love it. We all have those, or have had them in the past. The key is perseverance and, if nobody else has mentioned it, following your passion. Don't market a product because you think it will make money, market it because you like the product.

The market for World of Warcraft guides is a bit saturated, but there is still money to be made there, especially with the new expansion that recently released. If you're passionate and knowledgeable about the game, I'd say that's the area you should be looking in.

There is plenty of information on this forum that is absolutely free, you just have to weed through it and figure out what works for you.

try focusing on something you don't mind working at 24 -7 without getting paid.
you're not creating a job for yourself you're creating a business.

the other thing I would look into is your own expectations.
expectations have a lot to do with making bigger money.

take your popular online game, writing help guides, of course it's probably saturated.
how about looking at the newer games and writing help guides, the games that you personally like and don't mind writing guides for even if you weren't paid.

you really need to shy away from quiting, if it's something that makes you quit then it probably was something you shouldn't have been doing in the first place.

      • One other thing for the record:

Many entrepreneurs struggle with depression. If you don't have business partners, ask your close friends and family members to spend some time with you, to help balance your mood.

Nearly all people would become depressed if they worked in isolation and neglected other aspects of their lives.

OP, I'm pretty much in the same position you are in, only I've been trying to make it work for a bit longer than you. I've made around $500 in total, and lost a significant amount more - probably in the range of ~$980.

As of right now, I'm completely stumped as to where to go next. I'm thinking of looking into PPC seriously but I'm not sure. My advice is to stick to one method and don't jump from one to another. That is how I made the $500 and I plan to make a lot more.

Oh and also, never give up! (but you probably already knew that)

I feel the same way you do and i am around the same age. I think it is best to focus on ways to make money NOW e.g. offer a service, do some article writing, web design or something - anything that will bring in some cash and then focus on internet marketing. You won't feel depressed if you have a steady stream of income - even if it is not from internet marketing.

I was always trying to find the golden WSO that made me millionaire, but bad news... IT DOESN'T EXIST! Well maybe, but normally not many take action :/

After some hard hits and "stupid" investments I learned that on the hard way, now I consider myself a somewhat successful internet marketer, but that is product of working everyday and knowing that my life will be around IM for a long time.

Start with some planning, write what you NEED to do every day, WRITE IT DOWN and separate it on small tasks for each day and then FOCUS on the thing you write down (that means NO FB NO YOUTUBE NO DISTRACTIONS (including seeing WSOs all day) ) and then you will start seeing success step by step.

Also I'm 21 years old and I'm also into gaming I'm quite social and I consider myself pretty helpful! So if you want you can add me on skype (sam.zahedi17) and we can discuss ideas and everything about IM or even gaming (I'm into rpgs and FIFA but know a lot of everything about gaming)

Remember you just need to plan and take action! and don't be depressed! that won't help on anything instead focus on DOING SOMETHING and learning from what's already done

Manoko, what is your favorite topic you are most passionate about?
And you want to do internet marketing, right?
And you said you love talking to people, right?

Put those three together and you've got the perfect online business plan: Forum marketing! Find a product on ClickBank, Commission Junction, DigiResults, Warrior Forum or elsewhere and get your affiliate link. Create a blog page with useful tips on your topic and put your affiliate link in there. Then:
Step 1: Pick your favorite topic
Step 2: Type that topic into Google
Step 3: Select "Discussions" and "Past 24 hours" in the left column.
Step 4: Pick the forums that let you have links in your signature. Put the link to your blog in your signature.
Step 5: Respond to the first 50 posts with valuable info

Repeat once per day without fail and you will be making money!

I give you two thumbs up Manoko!

Thanks for sharing your feelings. The online world can be tough sometimes and very confusing since there are so many directions you can take. There is truly an abundance out there.

From my many years invested I have come to a very clear realization that I want to share which should help you stay the course and find a direction online you truly want to take in order to achieve success.

#1 Truly Think And Find What You Are Passionate About

This is the most crucial step. DO NOT just do something because people are making a ton of money in it. I agree that money is up there with oxygen but when times get tough and life hits you with an unexpected blow on your journey, is the desire for money going to keep you going?

When you are passionate about something (That will bring you riches in abundance) you will not GIVE UP easily no matter how hard life hits you.

    Now you are probably thinking...

The motivational words are great and all but what exactly should I do online?

Like I mentioned before you need to see what you are passionate about and find a way to make an income from it while providing value to others.

A great way I can direct you in will be to checkout Squidoo

Not sure if you have heard about them but you can definitely make an income by writing on things you are passionate about. There are some great people in there and its an awesome community.

Also remember keep your mind open and always keep learning.

    Remember...

The opportunities will come to those who decide to keep going when most people would have quit.

    All the best!

    -Will

What you lack is determination, you easily get disappointed. And it's not going to help you. 4 months is too soon to expect more earnings. Be focused on what field you want to succeed. I was once like you when I am your age, but then I decided to start getting employed first and learn from it. Eventually when I feel that I am more mature and responsible then I took the risk of having my own business online. It took me 2 years to reach my goals and I've tried every training courses online and seek help from colleagues who have become successful in such field. Just have focus and patience and you'll go a long way.

Sorry to hear you're having a hard time OP. Internet marketing is like any other job if you want to be successful, you need to work hard at it to put the information you've learnt into practice. Whilst you do need to try out different things to see what works for you it's also important not to jump from project to project, constantly trying the 'next big thing'. Focus on one project and really go for it. Put your all into it and do whatever it takes to make money from it.

hey man, this is the Dip and it is common. You have to concentrate and go through it until you finally find your some thing that works for you. Almost everyone is going through this phase and it is natural. If it was really easy to be successful, then most would be but it's not the case (more like less than 5% of internet marketers)

First of all, 4 months without making any money isn't anything to get depressed about. Some people have been at this for 4 years and still haven't made s***.

You're 20 years old. You could become a millionaire by the time you're 21. There aren't many people around here that could say that - so think positive.

As for the successful people who hide what they do. I can tell you categorically what they do to make money - they sell something.

That could be their own product, other peoples products as an affiliate, advertising space on their blog or anything. But they only receive money from selling.

You've been at this for 4 months - what are you selling?

If nothing - there is your answer to why you're not making any cash yet

Alright, getting back to this thread to share with you guys how I feel.
I hope other newbies will relate to this...

I entered a depression since my original post. Now all I'm seeing is failure, and basically, experience from previous tries always have been failure.

It just seem to me that this industry keeps the money for those who are willing to lie and sell things to people they don't need.
Every WSO feels like it, it's just a cute sales page, sometimes promising a lot but never delivering. Just look at how much more views the "get rich quick" WSO have, seems to me that people who are making the most sales are the ones who know how to make people dream and gain their trust, based on pure lies.

I bought a WSO that was advertised as "$465 for 4 hour of work", and I made exactly $0 from it.
Yet it's very popular, and at numerous occasions, when I complained directly in the thread of the WSO, the seller told me to delete or edit my post.

It's really annoying, it seems to me that everyone is left alone, and that almost every person who walks up to you to "help" is just trying to scam you even more.
How can anybody avoid depression is this kind of industry ?

I could reply to this post in a couple different ways...but this is what comes to mind right now...so here goes...

For some reason, when we are new to internet marketing...we get caught up in the buzz surrounding making 6 figures, quitting our jobs, longing for the day that we can roam around the house in our pajamas...when in reality we are overlooking something very important that is right in front of our faces...

What's that? Let's go back to square 1. We are trying to succeed at internet MARKETING.

      Not SEO.
      Not PPC.
      Not blogging for cash.
      Not WP plugins.
      Not product launches.
      Not list building.

Now that stuff ties into the big picture eventually...but what we first need to learn is....

      Drum roll.....

      MARKETING.

This isn't the answer that is going to make you jump up and want to throw up another site or 2...but I'm serious...you need to learn how to be a marketer.

Why not take a month and read 2 or 3 good books on marketing?

For instance, you can find the following 2 books on amazon that I really learned alot from:

      Hot Button Marketing
The Ultimate Sales Letter (about copy writing but explains the marketing involved)

      my .02 anyways
