Twitter is accepting payment from Microsoft and Federated Media to promote ExecTweets, a service that aggregates tweets from top business executives.

What are the other changes / models you predict Twitter will make this year to leverage their phenomenal growth?

Stay Sunny,

Google will probably offer them 1 bazillion dollars and slap adsense all over it.

Ha yeah and then Yahoo will get Jealous and start working their magic! Good luck for Twitter, this could be their first year of profit.

Interesting. Since as I understand it they have no income source coming in it's all about monitizing the site.

Perhaps they will start to add relevant hyperlinks to text that you mouse over and click on like adsense?

I think it is a good thing. They need to show some revenue for their VC's to be happy. Now, I think they'll start monetizing backgrounds or random tweets based on followers or keywords.

I can see "pay for" tweets, where you can send 140 character adds + URL to targeted members, based on the keywords in their profiles.

Also, there's a space on Twitter that gives definitions, they could use this space for advertising.

Gosh if Google gets involved you'll have to have quality tweets and they will be scored.
