I have a membership website that I am developing in the Internet marketing niche, similar to the website internetbusinessmastery.com. I plan to fully launch my website in the next 9 months. What strategies would you use to grow your community and prepare for a huge launch?

    Build up a reputation for yourself and your future business by contributing on various communities through guest blogging. Link to pre-launch videos and splash pages to raise awareness and interest.

    I am curious do you already know that there are two guys who are well known who already promote under the name Internet Business Mastery?

    Sure their URL is slightly different, it has a /academy after the .com

    but most of their stuff is branded with that name.

    It is going to be pretty hard for you to compete against them as you are new and they are like I said well known.

    I would even be curious as to what they might say about that.

    For the beginning start with doing some basic analysis (get the tools, pick related keywords, analyze, localize), create content, add links and a simple navigational structure on your site.

    Content is the key. If you have a lot of high quality content, you will start ranking for some long tail keywords without even doing any SEO optimisation. And that will become the norm in the future, with the recent updates Google is putting more and more pressure on content, and less and less on back linking.
    If you are just starting out, and haven't had the time to do any backlinking just now, I advise against buying services. You have 9 months and you can do everything yourself, or outsource the plan to somebody else, giving them detailed instructions. The bad part with buying services is that you never know what type of links these guys use, and I can hurt your badly in the future (trust me, I know).
    I'm going to say it again, because I can't stress out how important this is:
    Content is the key!

    Launch a pre-marketing campaign with a landing page to collect emails. Have a countdown until it launches and give the people who subscribe a discount or an incentive for doing so for when it launches. Do some advertising on craigslist and do some press releases. You can even do some social media promotion to get some hype going on about it.

    I would first create about 1-2 months worth of content, and then network, network, network. The more people you network with, the more people who will be able to recommend the product, link to your site, etc. etc.
