Domain Name Splintering

I am in a niche with many sub-niches.

What I was thinking about doing was to help drive very targeted traffic pick up domain names with the keywords of the sub-niches and then forwarding that traffic to the main site so that people who click see the generic product for all niches.

Or, I *could* forward that traffic to sales letters focused in each sub-niche to make it more relavant and sell the generic product to each customer in the sub-niche.

What do YOU think about this strategy?

So is this clever or stupid

Has anyone done this before? Has it back fired on you?

Not sure. How many sub niches are you talking about? Can you just push the traffic with free blogs and sites that point to your main domain?

Also, have you considered sub domains for the spinoffs? Might work depending on the niche.

    Hi Justin,

I think it is a good idea because you can manipulate every keywords of sub-niches and your main domain could be an authority site soon because you will link to it. Having several websites to manipulate search results is not a stupid idea but you will need more contents and definitely lots of domains. If the niche is profitable then go for it.

BTW, I'm also in the process of doing it. Maybe I'll outsource it soon. Good luck.

    Best Regards,

    Ross
