HI,
Just wondering if anyone still uses classified ads as a means of marketing your business? If so, any place that produces better results than others? This is a very time consuming task which in my opinion, to make it worthwhile, needs to receive some results.
For those who do use this method, approximately how many ads do you place in a day? Thanks.

Craigslist by far is the best. I use an expensive software, here is my results breakdown over the last 30 days by % sending traffic.

    Craigslist- 89%
All others (148 of them) 11%

Classifieds work very well for me. Craigslist is my best producer by far. But, I use classifieds for recruiting and not selling. So my results are not typical.

    • Our SEO agency gets great mileage out of Backpage, Locanto, Classifieds.com, and Ebay Classifieds. Free ads. Make them HTML, and host the images on a domain of yours or your clients. Solid results 90% or more of the time. Baboooom.

I use gumtree to post my ads but they tend to get rolled off to the back pages pretty fast, so the exposure may not be so good.

Craigslist is definitely a huge traffic source. Unfortunately they do not allow make money online types of ads. That does not stop people from flooding the Craigslist job section breaking their rules left and right. If you get around the flagging and ghosting you can make some serious money on Craigslist.

Don't even think of other programs. I am using Craigslist and that's the best one ever. Most of the traffics comes from there. You should take a look in Craigslist.

Craigslist. Just a year ago I sold my truck on there in under 1 hour for the price I wanted. I haven't used it for any kind of online marketing sales however.

Other than craiglist I have found that most free classified sites do provide a slight trickle of traffic but the visitors rarely convert. I think it depends on your niche and your offer though. I would suggest you try a few and test them yourself. You never know.

Craigslist is good for tangible items that you want to sell in your local area. They are the only classified ad site i recommend anyone using.

It seems you can not find Craigslist results from Google search. Do the craigslist block the google to index their page. If the ads do not show in google, people hardly can find your ads.

Free only. I think the only paid ads are in the Job classification and only in a few major cities.

Could someone clarify this please? If I place an ad on Craigslist for a service that I am offering, am I limited to just placing it in one city or metro area? Would my account be deleted if I placed multiple ads?

If you are planning to run a service, you will need to learn what PVA's and IP solutions are. It will take some learning and experimenting with Craigslist to figure things out. They change things almost every week or so, you have to stay on top of things. No they won't delete your account but your ads will possibly get flagged if they are similar or ghosted if your posting in areas where your phone number you verified your account with isn't from that area.

Hands down, do some researching. I work for a large firm for Craigslist posting so I know the ropes. I do the marketing for the most part, but honestly been in the game for about 2 years doing it myself. I went though 1000's of PVA's and its tough but doable. I outsourced at one time and found it exhausting because of all of the foreign countries have a hard time getting ads to stick. I then started a business of my own employing people from the U.S

That is how I landed my current job. I work for a company that does around 10k ads per day or more. They have 100s of clients and do the best work I know of. So if anyone is interested I would love to help you out with a marketing campaign on Craigslist. I have the best experience and so does every employee I work with.

Yea I'm a craigslist fan. It ain't like back in the day though when you could hit the big cities and get 800 hits in two hours. Though I'm sure theres services that provide that
