Optimizing Image Search?

So I have a blog that doesn't get much search traffic from Google. But I'm seeing some search traffic for images. Other than the image "alt tags", what else can I do to optimize images for search results? Does backlinking work too?

maybe you can install the plugin "sitemap for images", and create multiple images in one article with different keywords

      • Search engines can track pages / content through text, so add a text description to each image by learning to use alt tags
      • Rename the name of the image files so that it clearly reflects clear and simple words, separated by dashes, the actual description of the image contents.
      • Surround the image with content that is relevant and complimentary to the image subject.
      • The larger the images are, the better the chances of getting more Google Image Search originated traffic.

Fill in your alt tags with descriptive text, not just keywords (think long tail). Many people leave their alt tags blank so you'll have an instant competitive advantage.

    - make sure the file name reflects the image
    - add title to reflect image
    - add alt text
    - build some inbound links to the image
    - generate solid content to reflect the image

Let us say your keyword is orange juice.

BODY COPY Put "orange juice" in the body copy.

LSI Put LSI words {citrus, lemon, fruit} in the body copy.

IMAGE NAME Make sure to use "orange juice" in the image name. orange_juice.jpg

TITLE TAG Add "orange juice" to your title tag of the image.

ALT TAG Add "orange juice" to your alt tag of the image.

DESC Add "orange juice" to the description of your image.

LINK OUT Link out from the page using "orange juice" in the anchor copy.

LINK IN Link in to your page using "orange juice" in the anchor copy from a high ranking page.

    THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!!

Make sure your web site is about orange juice. That should be your main theme with lots of images. Tell people they can use your images as long as they link back to you. Google will notice your image is very popular, but give you the top slot as the originator of the image.

After this you will get a lot of traffic from Google images.

    1. Watermark your images
    2. Share them on Pinterest
    3. Set a frame buster to force users to your website instead of being stuck in G images
    4. Hyperlink the images to the page, (or at least to something useful)

Dont obsess over Google, there are 1,000,000,000,000 other websites to y'know.

Create an image sitemap. (The quality of this will most likely also increase if you make sure to use alt/title attributes on your images.) You should also be naming your images using meaningful words, preferably matching content

your images should be unique, not stolen images from google search or other photo sharing sites. You can put some texts or do little modification to make it fresh.
Image file name, alt tag and description should be relevant to the iamge.
