The quickest methods are often the ones with the lowest open-rates and lowest numbers of sales.

With list-building (as with many other aspects of internet marketing), quality is far more important than speed.

Sorry, I don''t know. I would start with this thread, rather than with a WSO, myself: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982

Congratulations on your decision to build a list. You've just dramatically increased your chances of making money.

Agreed here too- it takes time to build this list, I would look at some paid advertising to get you started, and look to use social (facebook like) a giveaway to get it moving wider - have a look for "Amand Morrin facebook" as a search - his knowledge will save you a lot of time- and treats it like a business rather than a hobby....

Sorry ... ... I was alluding to the fact that a quantitative/speed-based approach to list-building typically results in ending up with a large but not-very-responsive list.

People who try to "opt in as many people as possible as quickly as possible" tend - in my opinion - to be the ones who end up with an open-rate of about 20%, sometimes telling themselves that "that's ok", not quite appreciating that if they'd started out differently, with a clear continuity-process in place (explained here), they wouldn't later be in the position of having put a lot of time/effort/energy/expense into building a list of the type that 80% of their own subscribers won't even open an email from them.

Time spent at the start understanding why and how lists work, and what their long-term objectives are, and on what sort of relationships the income derived from them is really based, and then starting to build them after taking all that into account and in accordance with it, really pay off enormously in long run.

I know that people very often stress the significance of "taking action", but in this list-building regard, I think that's often inappropriate. The reason I say that is that so much of the "action" I see people taking seems to me to be rather misguided and inappropriate, missing-the-point action. What matters more than "doing it quickly" is thinking it through at the start and setting off in the right direction.

Speed is the enemy of quality, and relevance, and direction.

If you need to travel from London to Paris, there's no point in setting off at top speed toward Edinburgh, however much more quickly you can leave London than the person heading South instead of North. You need to know first that Paris is due South of London, and being in a hurry to leave the train station makes it less likely for you to get on the right train. A clumsy analogy, perhaps, but you see what I mean?

I think you're being modest with that 20% Alexa. I'd say it's much lower than that

What type of list are you trying to build and why?

If it's "churn & burn" marketing get a WSO that talks about solo adverts and setting up generic squeezepages with optimizepress with headlines that promise instant success.

Sometimes a slower approach and looking a bit longer term will be better.

Do you currently have your own domain, hosting, and autoresponder account? Will you be promoting your own products / brand or just affiliate products?

Offering something for free if they join your list is always a good way to reel in people to join your list - off course you need to live up to what you say too!

Before you go out there and start driving traffic you need a system in place first otherwise you aint going to make sod all

The most basic of things you need is a squeeze page, a quality free offer and a OTO

Once you have these 3 elements you can then start to drive traffic to your squeeze page

ppc and solo ads are a great way to get the ball rolling

there is of course a lot more to list building than what i have laid out above however those are what you need to make a good start

nice said....with a squeeze page, a quality free offer and OTO, you need a good email series to maintain the relationship. You need to study your niche and get to know them, use their words to build up the bond. And do not spam them, you will lose them forever, quick.

by the way, to speed up the process, you can go to PLR site to find a PLR videos and ebook to use as a giveaway gift in exchange of their email...so you do not have to make it by your own. You will be amazed how damn good some of those PRL products are

      hope it helps

Best way to build a list:

1 - create landing page to allow distribution of content and capture of email
2 - develop and publish great content
3 - syndicate the content everywhere you can

If you are in the IM niche then I suggest that you use safe-swaps.com to buy solo ads.

in some peoples opinion, giving away something for free to build your list, will only give you
a list full of freebie seekers, it is better to offer something at a really low price,
    you may build your list
slower this way but,you know that if you offer is great, they will buy from you, simply because they
    have done it allready.

Hence the term OTO. Without a squeeze page your sending the traffic to a sales page. Nothing wrong in that but you'd be leaving a lot of money on the table if your not capturing that traffic.

The FREE gift is just a lead and an opportunity to presell; relationship build; introduce yourself to your audience.

If you not capturing your leads how do you intend to follow up? #justsayin....

    Choose your weapon.

    B) A smaller list of 500 responsive buyers that is built up through establishing a meaningful relationship over a year.

I know that in my experices I would go for B. Even if you said smaller list of 250 responsive buyers which is 50% less, I would still take those numbers.

WHY? A list of freebie seekers is HO HUM ok, but a list of buyers, WHAM BAM THANKYOU MAAM! ha ha

I'm still wondering how you guys have your web pages set up. Sounds like just a micro site with a squeeze page on it. See I have a site but I don't want a squeeze page as a tab, or maybe I do. I mean I don't have any subscribers. AT ALL lol. I try though. I've tried everything, from free drawings for t-shirts to giving away free ebooks.

I think that the plain and simple fact is NOBODY GIVES A F$@#. Nobody cares about a free t-shirt, or free e-books or free this or that. It's very discouraging. I've tried everything except telling people I'll pay them 5 dollars to sign up.

My site is fitnessofthegods.com any advice will be greatly appreciated. Please PM me with ANY advice. Cause this is damn near impossible.

    1. Create an squeezepage with Autoresponder included.

    2. find a high traffic forum related to that niche and put an attractive signature with your squeezepage link.

    3. Build an quality post and traffic will flow for sure.

    4. You can also do ads swap and solo ads.

There are plenty of free opt in forms out there to choose from but I suggest you check out Aweber as it does it all.

Just get a PLR Product which you should be able to get for Free Then put up a opt in form on a website and collect the leads by giving people a Free USEFUL software or E-book. Free Videos work very well.

Please excuse the observation that in my opinion this is a simply dreadful idea, Mark.

Perhaps the single most important factor between marketers ending up with something like a 15%/20% open-rate for their emails among their subscribers and those with more like a 75%/80% open-rate relates to what's been used as the incentive for collecting their email addresses. That can easily give rise to a five-fold difference in income potential.

This represents - in email series terms - your important "first impression". As the saying goes, you don't get a second chance to make one of those!

The essential thing to do is to use it as part of your continuity process, ensuring that it's specifically designed to maintain attention and continuity, for all the reasons explained in such detail in this thread: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982

Otherwise you end up a few months later with a non-responsive list. The damage has been done at this early stage and can no longer be rectified.

It's essential for the "free report" (or whatever you call it) sent to your subscribers to be something of your own, which maintains your continuity and is specifically designed to dovetail with your email series. This is simply fundamental. "A PLR product which you can get free" does not do the job.

That is, in short, very characteristic of what all the people have done who, three/six months later, start off all the threads here with titles like "What Have I Done Wrong?". :p

I think getting PLR articles/product for free is fine, provided you use them only as a starting point to create your own free e-book. From my own experience with free PLR, I can easily condense a 400-500 word article into 30 words because 90% of it is fluff. If you really intend to get PLR, go for quality instead of free ones. Use the structure but rewrite everything and add solid informative content.

As a list building, here is a recent thread that I find very useful:
Zero To Hero In 30 Days Or Less Using Free Resources

    1. Get a website (domain and hosting)
    2. Get a free gift to give away (ebook, audio, video, email newsletter)
    3. Get an autoresponder account like AWeber
    4. Make a squeeze page (short html page) with a pitch for your free gift
    5. Add your Autoresponder form to the squeeze page
    6. Add follow up emails to your Autoresponder
    7. Send traffic to your squeeze page
    8. Be good to your list... (teach them, offer them quality stuff.. both for free and paid stuff..)
That's list building in a nutshell.

If possible, add a viral aspect to your list building like re-brandable PDFs
    and you're golden

List building is the most desired part in whole IM, which is (sadly) neglected by most of the marketers.

Offer something for FREE. It works like a charm and builds the list quite fast.
