Google keyword question

Hi Warriors,

Quick question.
When my main keyword string is three words and on my webpage and I would use "and" or "or" "the" and other words with less than three letters between those keywords, Will google see the difference?

Example: "opening door window" "I am opening the door and window".

The reason I wonder is because I remember something about words with less than three lettters not being used?

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Nathan,

Its because search engines regard those small words like "an" "of" "if" "at" as stop words so wont account for them on a search

Yep, based on everything I've read in SEO, and combined with my own experiences, Google does consider those to be "stop" words, as neild1 said, and are generally ignored from a pure ranking perspective.

Correct, those words do not count. However, "I am opening the door and window" will still not count as a phrase "opening door window", so for keyword density reasons you would still want to use the exact phrase in your copy at least a few times (depending on the lenght, between 1%..2%)
