Can I re-use my unique contents in new site and delete the old one?

Hi,

Let's say my site got penalty from improper backlinking strategy but all of my contents are unique. My ranking drop around #100 but still hit index.

To be clean up - Can I delete the existing site and migrate all of content to my new domain? Does it will be duplicate content with the existing site?

Now I have two choices to recover or create the new one.

Thanks,
Chirdpong

Yes, you can do that. I've done it before. Once you delete the content from the old site it will eventually get removed from Google's index.

Yes you can. After deleting everything including tags, make sure to update your sitemap and resubmit to google webmaster tools after posting the new content.

Yes, you can do it, but you have to stop all old pages from crawler,

after that you can use all old content to new site.

Or you can ask Google for a reconsideration. If your website has been hit by the recent updates and you know for a fact that your content is unique and is compliant to Google's policy, then try submitting a request for reconsideration to Google via your Google's webmaster account.

    Thanks all for info.

I will try to recover my site for a while. Then, if the improvement is not good as it could, I will migrate my old content to the new one.

    Cheers!

      Hey guys -

      Interesting topic!

This just made me wonder about something...

Say you do end up deleting your first site, BUT the following sequence of events have occurred:

      1. You create original unique site ...
      2. Someone steals and republishes your content ...
      3. You create a new site with content from original site ...
      4. You delete your original site

Will this cause the content thief to now have the "unique" content flag for indexing, while your new site would be classified as duplicate content, since their publish date is before your "new" site?

Duplicate content is only an issue if the same content is repeated on your site. If the same content appears on other sites then it is syndicated content. In the event someone copies your content, you should contact them to ask them to remove it. If they don't remove it then you should file a DMCA notice against them with the search engines.

Or the sequence should be like this?

        1. Delete the original content - waiting Google remove from index
        2. Use Copyscape or TBS check to ensure no one copy the content
        3. Migrate content to the new site

          That would be correct.

If Copyscape brings up some red-flags, then your best option would be to rewrite some parts of the article to maybe freshen them up a bit. However, don't get too bogged down with rewriting everything.

There are some people on here, who are of the opinion that a duplicate content penalty doesn't exist due to content syndication across the web, etc.

So there are no definite answers for you and what you have outlined, would be a reasonable process to follow to protect your own interests.

          Hope that helps

Yes you can. Google have a Remove URLs feature in Webmaster Tools so you can remove a site from the index. However, Google recommends filing a reconsideration request instead of starting from scratch. http://support.google.com/webmasters...answer=1269119

I suggest you request for google de-index first your site, before deleting the old site then use the content to your new site
