Is the dating info market still doing well?

Hey,

If you are in this market, you probably know the answer...

I have noticed that most of the Google Ads now are for dating sites, not info products. Is that a major shift in this market?

In the past, I used to make a nice extra bit of change in the dating advice niche. So I'm looking to get back in.

What has your experience been? I'm particularly interest in paid traffic.

  • I don't think the demand for information in this market will ever really go away, regardless of how high dating sites are bidding on Adwords.

    • It's an evergreen niche, there will always be big money in it. Sometimes trends go in and out of fashion, but yea, always a good niche.

  • Thanks, are you selling in this market? Where do you buy paid traffic?

I don't have any trouble with the bid prices - it's just that the lack of info-marketers in ads that bothers me.
  • It's not a market I'd want to go into myself JP, though I do realize how big it is. If I were you I'd deconstruct doubleyourdating.com's game plan.

  • The dating niche has grown and still has projected growth. Most infoproduct-selling marketers can't compete with the large dating websites on certain keywords, so many of them have simply stopped using Google for paid advertising (or have switched to the content network).

I used to spend a ton on Google Adwords until Google started slapping my keywords. When I had to change hundreds of ads to please Google, I decided it was time to tell them to pound sand. So yes, there was a major shift in that niche. A lot of marketers have left the niche altogether, but the smart ones simply changed their traffic sources (the ones with a comprehensive back-end strategy and built sizeable lists).

Most of the major players went over to other ad networks. There are still some on POF and Facebook, but with place like CPV Direct, Advertising.com, and the hundreds of other networks out there (new ones popping up all the time), there's no need to rely on Google for paid advertising anymore.

The serious players attend the Adtech conference / convention each year to network and find out about these new networks.

If you want to learn more about this stuff Google Jonathan Mizel and Amish Shah. They know their sh!t.

The funny thing is I bought your eBook some time back, just to ask you this very question! (you did promise a free consultation with each purchase)

And here you are giving me the answers...

  • The dating tips niche will always be around. People will always have their insecurities and therefore the shrewd marketer will always have a way to get into their wallets.

I was in the Dating niche, selling an ebook and made nice change from it too. Google Adwords became a pain in the ass, so I shelved that project too and went into more lucrative info markets.

I've noticed David DeAngelo [Eban Pagan] from Double Your Dating has changed his style a bit and now incorporates more video and social actions in his marketing.

I've also heard of a few marketers being very successful selling dating info products by advertising on Plenty of Fish, so maybe give that a try.

The dating niche has such demand that you can even sell eBooks with offline advertising. One of my direct mail mentors, used to make a killing by advertising a manual with dating advice in the lads mags for £19.95 - YEARS AGO!

  • Thanks Abul! I appreciate your help!

To be fair, I still get a couple of hundred dollars every month from my old sites.

So I'm gonna look deeper into this.
